Device for the electrical connection of a printed circuit board arranged in a closed housing with external supply lines
In electronics, the task often arises of connecting switching or control parts, monitoring circuits, etc. to the apparatus that is to be influenced or monitored. The solution to this problem is complicated if the control and monitoring circuits are designed as self-contained units and the electrical elements are arranged on so-called pressure circuits. But this is precisely what is more and more the case. Solutions are known in which the conductor tracks of the printed circuits or prints are connected to the connection points located on the housing itself via soldering lugs and wires.
Other solutions provide for the connection of the print to the connection points by means of a plug connection. However, all compounds known up to now have serious disadvantages; either the connection requires a large amount of elements and is therefore expensive, or the amount of labor required for the wiring and the possibility of wire mix-ups are very great.
The subject of the invention is a device for the electrical connection of a printed circuit board arranged in a closed housing with external leads, which requires a very small amount of material and labor and thus results in a considerable reduction in price.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that a strip of electrically conductive material is designed at one end as a connection to the connection point of the outer feed lines and at the other end as a resilient pushbutton contact.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. It shows:
1 shows a housing with two connecting devices in a perspective view,
2 shows a connection device in elevation on a larger scale.
In the perspective view of Fig. 1, three walls of the housing are cut away so that the interior of the housing can be shown. Furthermore, only two of the eight connecting devices are shown.
In the following, the part 1 is referred to as the bottom, the part 2 as the side wall or connection wall, these designations indicating the position of the housing only for the graphic representation and for the assembly process; the position of use is arbitrary. The housing is made of plastic.
The so-called print circuit or print 3, which carries the circuit elements and their connections, is shown in dash-dotted lines in the assembled position. The inputs of the circuit of the print are located on the longitudinal side facing the side wall 2 and are designed as conductor tracks, as is generally customary. The base 1 has elevations 4, specifically so many that the number of gaps 5 between each two elevations 4 is at least as large as the number of print inputs. The connection points of the outer supply lines, which are connected in a manner known per se by means of clamping or soldering connections, are only marked by a center cross 7. In the example shown, connection lugs 8 are present, which lead through slots 6 of the side wall 2 arranged in pairs.
The connection between the print inputs and the connection points 7 is made by an element 9, the design of which is evident from FIGS. 1 and 2. This connecting element 9 consists of a strip of electrically conductive material, one end of which is angled and then bent back. The middle part 9b preferably forms an angle of slightly less than 900 with the part 9a, while the end 9c is bent back concavely to the angled part 9b. In Fig. 2, the starting position of the part 9c is shown in phantom and its position of use in solid lines. The part 9c is preferably slotted so that a double contact is created.
Two of the elevations 4 are each provided with a pin 10, which correspond to guide holes (not shown) in the printed circuit board and determine their position in such a way that the print inputs come to rest over the gaps 5.
During assembly, the connecting elements 9 are inserted and attached to the connection points 7. The print 3 is pushed onto the pegs 10 and the latter are thermally deformed in such a way that a head is formed which holds the print 3 in place on the elevations 4. During this process, the parts 9c are pressed together, as illustrated by the solid line in FIG. 2, and good contact is thus established between the print connections and the connecting elements.
The connection points 7 are preferably arranged in two rows. This requires two types of connecting elements 9 of different lengths, the end of the longer type being offset with respect to the main part. Furthermore, narrow guide ribs 11 are preferably provided on the inside of the side wall 2.
