la fig. 2a représente, vue en section transversale, une ligne coaxiale, capacitive, de grande puissance, selon une variante et la fig. 2b un détail agrandi de cette même ligne ; la fig. 3 représente, vue en coupe axiale, une ligne co axiale capacitive munie de sa prise ; les fig. 4 à 6 représentent, vus en coupe transversale, trois modes de réalisation de lignes coaxiales capacitives de moyenne puissance les fig. 7 et 8 représentent, vues en coupe axiale, deux lignes coaxiales capacitives de faible puissance selon deux modes de réalisation ;
tes fig.
Capacitive coaxial line The invention relates to a capacitive coaxial line, comprising a coaxial cable consisting of a conductor tube and a conductive core coaxial with said tube and internal to it, and a plurality of side-contact capacitors, arranged in the tube. space between the aforementioned tube and said core, each capacitor being in electrical contact with the tube and the core by its lateral contacts. Said capacitors with side contacts may be of the type described in Swiss patent N 479150 of May 2, 1968 of the holder.

your fig. 9 to 11 show various embodiments of coaxial capacitive lines comprising a coaxial conductor and capacitors with a diameter smaller than the distance between the core and the outer conductor of said coaxial cable; figs. 12 to 17 schematically show various embodiments of groupings of coaxial capacitive lines.
An important application of the capacitors as described in the Swiss patent N 479150 of May 2, 1968 of the holder appears in the realization of capacitive lines, of all dimensions and powers, obtained by inserting capacitors with side contacts between the core and the sheath. outside of a coaxial cable.
Various embodiments of such lines will be given. In fig. 1a to 3, preferred embodiments of coaxial lines of large diameter (50 mm to 1 meter), rigid and high power have been shown.
Figs. 4 to 6 illustrate embodiments of coaxial lines, preferably with a diameter between 20 and 50 mm.
Figs. 7 and 8 relate to very small flexible coaxial lines, of low power.
Fig. 1a schematically represents, seen in transverse section, a capacitive coaxial line according to the invention.
It comprises a coaxial cable composed of an inner core II and an outer sheath or tube 12. In the space available between sheath and core are inserted a plurality of capacitors such as 13, of cylindrical shape with lateral contacts, of such that the generators of the cylinder which delimits them are parallel to the axis of the coaxial cable and that each capacitor has at least one contact 14 supported on the core and one contact 15 supported on the sheath. The various capacitors are insulated from one another and held by intermediate pieces 16 made of an electrically insulating material.
The contacts, one of which is shown enlarged in fig. lb, include, inserted in a support of insulating material 19, a metal blade 17 pushed by a spring 18.
The space 20 left free between the capacitors 13, the coaxial cable I1-12 and the insulating parts 16 can advantageously, especially in the case of high power lines, be filled with an insulating material after having expelled the air therefrom, this material possibly being a gas such as sulfur hexafluoride, a liquid with insulating properties, a resin, ceramic, polyethylene terephthalate, a fiber, etc.
Depending on the length of the line and the desired power, two or more capacitors will be placed end to end, as shown in FIG. The, however, seen in axial section, a fragment of a line identical to that shown in fig. the.
The shape of the insulating supports 19 is chosen to have an asymmetrical shape and so as to fit into the intermediate pieces 16. In addition to good rigidity of the assembly, this circumstance makes it possible to avoid any possibility of reversing the direction of assembly of the. condensers; in the case of the use of electrolytic capacitors, a reverse polarity can indeed be dangerous when charging the line. The arrangement described also makes it possible, in the case of non-polarized capacitors, to position the lateral contacts of the capacitors tangentially to the internal core and to the external sheath of the coaxial.
The embodiment described above allows rapid assembly of a bank of high power capacitors.
Fig. 2a shows, in cross section, a coaxial capacitive line, according to an alternative embodiment and which differs from that of FIG. 1a, in that the capacitors are connected by means of serrations, such as 25 and 26, respectively fixed, preferably by welding, on the sheath and the core of the coaxial cable. Electrical contacts 15 and 14 are preferably leaf springs (eg beryllium bronze) fixed in insulating supports such as 19 and 27.
Fig. 2b shows, enlarged, the contact 15 and the den telure 25.
Different widths will preferably be chosen for the contacts of the same capacitor in order to avoid any risk of inversion during assembly in the case of the use of polarized capacitors.
Fig. 3 shows, seen in cross section, a capacitive coaxial line according to the invention. We can distinguish the various capacitors such as 30, arranged end to end in several rows, between the core 31 and the sheath 32 of a coaxial cable.
The end plates 33 and 34 keep the capacitors of each row clamped together; the flanges are separated from the end capacitors by parts made of solid insulating material, such as 35.
Each capacitor is in electrical contact, on the one hand with the core 31 by a lateral contact 36, on the other hand with the sheath 32 by a lateral contact 37.
At one end of the line is fixed a coaxial socket 39 of the conventional type.
An opening 40, allowing an insulating gas to be blown inside the line or to inject an insulating liquid therein, may be provided for high energy lines.
The various capacitors of the line are electrically connected in parallel and it suffices to increase the length of the line and correlatively the number of capacitors it contains in order to increase its power.
Fig. 4a shows, seen in cross section, a capacitive line of medium size; fig. 46 represents, seen in perspective, the type of capacitor used for making this line.
The capacitors used 50 are prismatic with a substantially trapezoidal base, so as to occupy as much as possible the space available between the core and the sheath of the coaxial cable. Note that the electrical contacts 51 on the side of the sheath 12 are two in number while there is only one contact 52 on the side of the core 11.
Contact 52 is a metal plate integral with the capacitor and a direct bearing on the core of the coaxial; the contacts 51 ensure, in addition to the electrical contact with the sheath 12, the positioning of the capacitor.
The shape of the capacitors makes it possible to occupy as much as possible the space available between the core and the coaxial sheath and thus to offer maximum power for a given volume of lines.
Fig. 5 shows, in cross section, an alternative embodiment of a coaxial capacitive line of medium size, in which the positioning of the capacitors 60 is ensured by their external contact 61 which has been produced from a flexible metal strip of large width doubly curved so as to form two wide flanges 63 and 64 having a wide seat on the sheath 12. The internal contact 65 is of the same type as in the embodiment of FIG. 4a.
Fig. 6 shows, in cross-section, an alternative embodiment of a medium power capacitive coaxial line, produced from capacitors 70 of cylindrical shape with a circular base, in which the electrical contact on the core is obtained using a ring 71 with elastic contacts such as 72 and welded to a lateral contact of the capacitor, as shown at 73, the electrical contact on the sheath 76 also being obtained using a ring 74, provided with con elastic tacts such as 75 and soldered to another side contact of the capacitor, as shown at 76.
The rings used in this embodiment allow rapid assembly and disassembly.
Fig. 7 shows, seen in axial section, a fragment of a coaxial line, according to an embodiment suitable for lines of very small diameter. The capacitors 80, provided with side contacts 81 and 82, are, on the one hand welded to the outer sheath 12 of the coaxial by their contact 81 and, on the other hand, welded by their contact 82 to a ring 83 threaded on the 1l core of the coaxial and welded to the latter. Excellent electrical contacts are thus obtained. The space 20 between the capacitors will preferably be filled with an insulating material.
Fig. 8 shows, seen in axial section, a fragment of a small-diameter coaxial capacitive line according to an alternative embodiment and which differs from the previous one in that the electrical contact of the capacitor with the core of the coaxial, as well as its holding in place , are provided by one or more elastic clamps, such as 85, integral with one of the contacts of the capacitor and threaded in a ring 83 enclosing the core. This arrangement makes it possible to save on welding on the core and gives good flexibility to the cable because the pinched contact on the core can allow a slight slip.
For the lines of small diameter, a vinyl dielectric will preferably be used between the capacitors, which ensures good flexibility thereof. The outer conductor of the coaxial will be covered with an insulating sheath. Figs. 9 to 11 show that it is possible to use capacitors with a diameter much smaller than the distance between the core and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable available.
Fig. 9 shows in cross section a line according to the invention, in which the capacitors 90 are pressed against the core 11 of the coaxial cable and are held there for example by a metal hoop 92 electrically connected to the outer conductor 12 of the coaxial.
In a variant, shown in cross section in FIG. 10 and in axial section in FIG. 11, the capacitors 100 are pressed against the outer conductor 12 of the coaxial and in electrical contact with it by a lateral contact 101 which may be of the type of that shown at 61 in FIG. 5. The capacitors are held in place by a metallic intermediate insulating ring 103 having a portion 104 resting on the core 11 and a portion 105 resting on the contact 107 of the capacitor.
Figs. 12 to 17 schematically represent various groupings of coaxial capacitive lines.
Fig. 12 shows a coaxial capacitive line consisting of several lines such as 200, connected in series by a single connecting cable 201.
Fig. 13 shows a line similar to the previous one but with several connecting cables.
In the embodiment shown in elevation in FIG. 14 and frontally in fig. 15, the lines are stacked on a support 204 and the single link cable 205 thus has a very short length.
Fig. 16 shows the assembly by means of male connectors 206, 206 'and female connectors 207, 207' of several flexible lines of small diameter 208, 208 ', 208 ".
The fia. 17 is a perspective view of a capacity bench, which does not differ from that of FIG. 14 only by the fact that the connection between the various capacitive coaxial lines is effected by means of several connecting cables 109, 109 ', etc.
