Assembly for driving a motor vehicle in particular for urban traffic Assemblies have already been produced for driving a motor vehicle, in particular for urban traffic, comprising at least one electric traction motor, at least one electric accumulator for supplying the engine, at least one dynamo and at least one engine for driving the dynamo, the generator set formed by this dynamo and this engine being of reduced power compared to that of the accumulator and traction motor.
Such assemblies make it possible to alleviate the drawbacks experienced by traditional vehicles when they are called upon to circulate in town: significant release of harmful gases, relatively intense noise, in particular when starting, high fuel consumption, in particular as a result. very unequal speeds to which the engines are subjected.
In these assemblies, the engine of the generator set runs continuously, whether the vehicle is stationary or running, and this even if the battery charge is sufficient to ensure the drive of the vehicle in good conditions, which has the disadvantages of unnecessary fuel consumption and annoying noise.
The present invention proposes to overcome these drawbacks and relates to an assembly for driving a motor vehicle, in particular for urban traffic, comprising at least one electric traction motor, at least one electric accumulator for the power supply. mentation of the engine, at least one dynamo and at least one engine for driving the dynamo, the generator set formed by this engine being of reduced power compared to that of the accumulator and of the traction motor.
This assembly is characterized by a device for the permanent control of the state of charge of the battery and by means which put the generator set into operation as long as this charge is less than a determined value. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a block diagram of the assembly forming the subject of the invention, in a particular embodiment.
Such an assembly comprises one or more traction motors M, electrically operated, with an overall power of about 1000 Watts for example, supplied with electric current from an accumulator battery A and through a rheostat R allowing the user to adjust the electric power directed to the motor.
The battery A will for example be dimensioned so as to provide the motor M with an autonomy of the order of three hours. It may be lead and in this case weigh about 150 kilos, or else cadmium or ferro-nickel, for a weight of about 60 kilos.
The charge of the battery A is ensured by means of a generator comprising a dynamo D whose shaft a is driven by an explosion engine Me with a displacement of the order of 50 to 80 cm3 for example and consequently of much less power than the M.
On the shaft a are also mounted a flywheel V ensuring satisfactory continuous rotation of this shaft as well as a starter d by which it is possible to start the engine Me.
A positive control device for this battery, AV, is connected to the terminals of the accumulator A, consisting of a combination of an ammeter and a voltmeter respectively measuring the intensity and the voltage of the current flowing through a calibrated resistance. This control device is arranged so as to direct a control signal to a relay Re on which depends the current supply of the starter and that of the spark plugs of the engine Me, which relay is energized from the moment when the battery charge A falls below a determined value, that is to say when the calibrated resistance of the AV device is only able to absorb a minimum limit power.
Of course, the power supply to the starter motor and to the spark plugs of the engine Me is automatically interrupted by the relay Re when the device AV notices that the battery A is again sufficiently charged.
In this way, the generator set formed by the engine Me and the dynamo D only runs for the time strictly necessary for charging the battery A which makes it possible, depending on the case, to save a relatively large quantity of gasoline and consequently of significantly reduce the production of harmful exhaust gases.
By this particular arrangement, the payload capacity of the battery will therefore always be kept at its highest level, without the user having to intervene, which makes the vehicle completely independent of the care of its driver or also of the absence of healthy.
Of course, provision can also be made to recover the kinetic energy of the vehicle, during braking, by appropriately modifying the excitation of the traction motor which will then turn into a dynamo, the current thus produced being sent into the motor. accumulator A.
For this purpose, it is planned to combine the rheostat R with a relay whose contacts r1 and r., Are intended to cut any connection between the accumulator A and the AV device, respectively the dynamo D. This cut takes place when the motor M works as a generator. In addition, the contact r., Connects this dynamo to a load resistor O.
Indeed, when "this motor produces current, it is possible that the voltage at its terminals becomes momentarily higher than that of the accumulator, or even that at the terminals of the dynamo D: it would follow that the rotor of this dynamo would be braked by the engine torque that it would develop while being driven by the Me combustion engine, so the generator set would tend to decelerate and it would then have to be restarted, either by the starter if the deceleration was too great, or by the Me motor itself if the rotation speed is sufficient.
It is to avoid this that the contact r has been provided. and resistor O: in fact, as soon as the dyna mo no longer sends current to the accumulator battery, it is on resistor O that the energy produced is directed so that the speed of rotation of the group generator will remain constant and there will be no need to restart it when the kinetic energy recovery phase is completed.
As a variant, the device AV could be formed by an integrating assembly carrying out the current-voltage product at any time and controlling the relay Re from the moment when this product is lower than the desired minimum value.
As a variant, means allowing the user to control the electric power absorbed by the traction motor and consequently the mechanical power formed by this same motor.
