Method and machine tool for cutting a series of grooves in each of the faces of a workpiece of polygonal section The object of the invention is a method for cutting a series of grooves in each of the faces of the invention. a workpiece of polygonal section, as well as a ma chine-tool for implementing this method.
The processes used up to now, in which the grooves are milled using machine tools with multiple cutters, of known type, do not allow total automaticity and sufficient precision in the cutting.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a linear divider and a circular divider are used, so that each operation of cutting a series of grooves in one of the faces of the workpiece, which is moved step by step by the linear divider, is followed by a rotation of said part by means of the circular divider for a new cutting operation in another face.
The machine tool for the implementation of the process defined above, a machine tool in which several parallel spindles whose axes are perpendicular to the axis of the milling table carry milling organs, is characterized in that a linear divider mounted on the milling table with an adjustable inclination with respect to the axis of said table, carries at one of its ends a circular divider and at the other end a tailstock provided with a tailstock, between which is mounted a mandrel on which is engaged the workpiece,
the ends of the spindles being arranged on an axis parallel to the axis of the linear divider and being mounted on a carriage integral with the milling table sliding vertically on a column integral with the frame and subjected to the action of a hydraulic piston arranged in a cylinder.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the machine tool for implementing the method according to the invention in FIG. 1 is an elevational view of this embodiment; fig. 2 is a plan view of the same machine ; FIG. 3 is a detail view showing the linear divider and the circular divider mounted on the milling table, and FIG. 4 is a view showing a detail of the drive member of the workpiece mounted on the circular divider.
The machine tool shown in fig. 1 and 2 is formed from known elements of milling machines, by a frame 1 carrying a horizontal milling table 2, sliding longitudinally with respect to the frame 1. The frame 1 has, on one of the longitudinal sides, a column 3 on which slides vertically, by means of guides 4, a carriage 5 carrying milling spindles 6 whose axis is perpendicular to the plane passing through the axis of the milling table 2. At the upper part of the carriage 5 are mounted electric motors 7 which each drive, by means of belt transmissions 8, two contiguous spindles 6.
On each of the milling spindles 6 is mounted a milling tool which consists in particular of a saw mill 24 of the thickness of a groove.
The carriage 5 is controlled by a piston arranged in a hydraulic cylinder 9 connected to a hydraulic control circuit of known type. This hydraulic cylinder 9 is used in combination with a reproduction device shown at 10, in which a copying roller 11 is moved by a jig 12, integral with the milling table 2 in its movements.
On the milling table 2 (fig. 2 and 3) is mounted a linear divider 13, the table 25 of which is controlled by a hydraulic device and capable of moving step by step in both directions of the arrow F. This divider 13 carries on the table 25, at one of its ends, an electrically controlled circular divider 14 and at the other end a tailstock 15 provided with a tailstock 16.
The workpiece 17 is engaged on a mandrel 18 mounted between a point 19 integral with the circular divider 14 and the tailstock 16. The point 19 (FIG. 4) is engaged in a part 20 fixed on the circular divider 14 , which carries a drive finger engaged in a housing 22 of the mandrel 18, against the action of a spring 23. The workpiece 17 is arranged between the divider 14 and the tailstock (fig. 2 and 3) with its axis located in a plane passing through the axis of the linear divider 13 and perpendicular to the surface of the milling table 2.
The axis of the linear divider 13 itself forms with the axis of the milling table 2 an angle equal to that formed by the grooves or the fins with the axis of the workpiece.
On the table 25 of the linear divider 13 (fig. 2 and 3) is also mounted a key 26 keyed on a shaft 27, pivotally mounted in a support 28 disposed in the middle part of the workpiece 17. The key 26 shown on fig. 3 in the released position is capable of coming into contact via its face 29 against one of the lower faces of the workpiece 17 in order to constitute a support for the latter during the machining operation. The key 26 is controlled by a hydraulic device and works in combination with a telescope 30 fixed on the table 25 of the linear divider near the rotary divider 14.
The jaws 31, 32 are capable of coming into a clamping position on the end of the mandrel 18 when the part 17 is arranged to be machined.
The operation of this machine tool is carried out as follows: the workpiece 17 being mounted via the mandrel 18 on the linear divider 13 by means of the circular divider 14 and the tailstock 15 as described below. above, and the spindle carrier 5 being in the upper position, the machine is in its starting position for a first machining operation.
The linear divider 13 is located, for example, on the right, while the circular divider 14 is at the end of the cycle, the milling table 2 at the end of work and the key 26 and the bezel 30 are in the open position.
When the automatic control device which is of a known type is actuated, using in particular in combination an electromechanical device and a hydraulic device, a series of operations results therefrom comprising successively the rotation of the key 26 which comes into play. contact with one face of the part 17 and the closing of the bezel 30 on the chuck 18, the rapid return of the milling table 2, the rapid descent of the carriage carrying the spindles 6 and the working feed of the milling table 2 .
When a first series of eight grooves such as 33 is cut, the milling table 2 returns by rapid return to its initial position and the spindle carrier 5 rises to an average position. During the rapid return of the milling table 2, a linear division to the left is effected by moving the table 25 of the linear divider 13 by a distance equal to the length of the fin. The cycle then begins again with the descent of the spindle carrier 5 and a new work advance. When all the grooves 33 of a face such as 34 have been cut, the machine is then in the end of work position, the linear divider being at the end of travel on the left.
The spindle carrier 5 is released vertically in order to reach a high position for which the longitudinal ribs such as 35 are liable to pass under the milling tools 24. The key 26 and jaws 31 are then loosened. , 32 of the bezel 30, so that the part can perform a rotational movement around its axis, at a determined angle, said rotation being controlled by the rotary divider 14, so as to present a new face such as 34 of the workpiece 17 for cutting the grooves.
The key 26 and the bezel 30 being again clamped against the workpiece 17, the cycle of cutting a series of grooves on a new face can begin again as described above. The rotation of the circular divider 14 continues in this way until all the faces having grooves inclined in the same direction, for example 33, have been cut.
The grooves inclined in the opposite direction such as 36 are cut on a machine tool symmetrical to that shown in the drawing.
During the machining operation, the spindle carriage 5 is subjected to the action of the reproducing device 10 so as to proceed with cutting the grooves according to the profile of the template 12 which can thus be modified at will. .
