Fig. 1 die geschlossene Stellung der Einspritzform, und
Fig. 2 dieselbe Form in geöffneter Stellung.
Injection mold for the production of plastic parts with an undercut inner profile
The demoulding of workpieces that are manufactured from plastic in the injection molding process and have undercut areas always poses difficult problems for the manufacturers of injection molding tools.
Shapes have become known which, through segmented parts, allow them to be folded inwards. Also known is the pressureless casting of plastic parts in molds made of silicone rubber.
In these shapes, very complicated parts (e.g.
Copies of statues) with undercuts can be easily demolded.
The production of grooves for the seals of plug-in couplings of pipelines is known. A rubber ring profiled to match the sealing groove is placed on the cylindrical core of the injection mold and encapsulated with liquid plastic. For demolding, the cylindrical core is extended axially and the molded part is removed. Then, in a very laborious operation, the overmolded rubber ring has to be peeled inwards out of the molded part with the help of metal hooks. In this relatively coarse and lengthy operation, the rubber ring is often injured and valuable working time is lost.
The present invention is intended to remedy the disadvantage mentioned and to enable a simplified production of undercut inner profiles in injection molded parts. The invention comprises an injection mold for producing a plastic part with an undercut inner profile, consisting of at least two mold halves and an elastic, annular core part, which has the shape of the undercut to be produced. It differs from the previously known designs in that the elastic, ring-shaped core part is arranged longitudinally displaceably on a conical second core part, the second core part in turn being longitudinally displaceable relative to a third core part forming a counter-support.
Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the device according to the invention, namely show
1 shows the closed position of the injection mold, and
Fig. 2 shows the same shape in the open position.
According to FIG. 1, the two mold halves 1 and 2 form the outer profile of the molded part 3. Inside the mold, an inner core 4 with a conical tip 5 and a cover 6 and a tie rod 7 are arranged. After the mold halves 1 and 2 have been closed, the inner core 4 is brought from the starting position into the working position. The bolts 12 are spacer bolts which define the position of the inner core 4 with respect to the mold halves 1 and 2. A stop, not shown, of the feed drive for the inner core 4 can also occur in place of the spacer pins 12.
The expansion ring 9 made of elastic material and provided with an inner cone 8 is supported on the latter when the inner core 4 is advanced relative to the cover 6 and is thereby expanded. For a better explanation of the method, FIG. 2, which shows the injection mold in the open state, should be referred to. The mold halves 1 and 2 together with the core part 4 have been extended upwards. The elastic extension ring 9 has moved axially on the conical surface 5 up to the tip of the core part 4 and is extended radially inward out of the molded part 3 by its own elastic restoring force. The expansion core 9 leaves a groove 10 with undercut profiles in the molded part 3.
1 and 2 also show the sprue channel 11 through which the plastic enters the mold cavity. The mold can of course be opened in any direction. The indicated direction up is for purely graphic reasons. Of course, many other outer profile shapes, not shown, are possible for the expanding ring 9. However, the inner profile must be a cone.
For complete removal from the mold, the core according to FIG. 2 can be pulled even further out of the lower part or out of the molded part 3.
In the injection mold according to the invention, the selection of the material of the expanding ring 9 and the design of the surface of the cone 5 play a very important role. For the expanding ring 9, a rubber-elastic material with a coating of PTFE should preferably be used. The core of the same can for example consist of natural rubber or a synthetic elastomer. The surface of the cone 5 should preferably be provided with a thin-walled P'I'FE coating. Reinforced polyfluorocarbons can also be used.
The advantages of the invention are primarily to be seen in the fact that undercut sections of plastic parts can be produced with simple means with little structural effort and with the exclusion of laborious manual labor.
