In diesen zeigen

Method and device for deep-drawing hollow bodies made of plastic film
The invention relates to a method for deep-drawing hollow bodies made of plastic film. A hollow body is referred to as a deep-drawn hollow body, which has a great depth compared to a dimension of its cross-section which is transverse to its depth.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a section of heated plastic film is cooled at predetermined points; that this section is preformed by means of a die arrangement and that the preformed section lying on the die arrangement is transferred to a die arrangement, whereby it assumes its shape, the cooled areas of the film ensuring that the wall thickness of the transferred section of the film is essentially uniform .
The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method. This device is characterized by two frame parts which are suitable for holding at least one section of heated plastic film between one another; at least one punch and one die arrangement, which lie on opposite sides of the frame parts, means for cooling the film at predetermined points of said section; Means for applying the section to the die assembly to thereby preform the section; and means for drawing the preformed portion from the punch to the die assembly.

In all figures of the drawings, the same parts are provided with the same reference numerals. The drawings explain the process of producing deep-drawn hollow bodies made of plastic using pressure-resistant cigar boxes with hinged lids. The device generally comprises a tool arrangement 2 which is arranged on a slide 3 which is mounted so as to be movable to and fro on an elongated support structure 4. When this support structure is arranged in the vicinity of the outlet opening of an extruder 6, it forms a path along which the tool assembly 2 is moved to and fro towards the outlet opening and away from it.
Drive rollers 8 and 10 are also provided, which calibrate the plastic film that emerges from the aforementioned outlet opening. These rollers 8 and 10 are also used to move the plastic film forward along a path 12 formed by the support structure 4. Hydraulically actuated means are provided on the carriage which close the tool assembly for the purpose of performing a deformation process on part of the heated film. Means indicated at 14 serve to move the closed tool arrangement forwards along the said path in a direction away from the outlet opening and at a speed which approximately corresponds to the outlet speed of the plastic from the outlet opening.
Means are also provided on the slide which separate the tool arrangement from the part made of plastic film after the tool arrangement has been moved over a predetermined distance so that this part retains the shape given to it by the deformation, and which the tool arrangement quickly return to the starting position along said path, in which the tool assembly engages a subsequent part of the film.
In particular, the device comprises a conventional extruder 16 with a heating chamber 18, an AUL dispensing container 20 for feeding powdered plastic to an inlet opening of the heating chamber, and a screw (not shown) for conveying heated material out of the chamber and for pushing it out Material through an extrusion die forming the outlet opening 22 of the extruder to form a film. This outlet opening is provided in the upper part of the extruder, and the extruder is arranged such that the extruded film moves vertically downwards from the nozzle along the path 12.
The device acts on successive parts of the heated plastic film emerging from the extrusion press. For this purpose a frame 24 is provided which consists of two identical, rectangular parts 26 and 28 which are arranged on opposite sides of the path on which the heated plastic film travels through the device. The parts 26 and 28 of the frame 24 are each mounted at their corners on a piston rod of pneumatically operated piston drives, not shown, the cylinders of which are mounted on side plates of the slide. As a result, the frame parts 26 and 28 can be moved back and forth together with the carriage 3 in the longitudinal direction of the device.
The frame parts 26 and 28 are also transversely to the film between an inner position in which the frame parts correspond to one another and clamp part of the heated film around the entire circumference of this part, and an outer position with the aid of the pneumatic piston drives assigned to them Movable position in which the frame parts are on opposite sides of the film at a small distance from this.
The tool assembly 2 carried by the vertically movable slide 3 has a punch assembly 30 and a die assembly 32. These parts of the tool assembly are arranged on opposite sides of the path 12 on which the heated plastic film travels through the device. The punch assembly 30 and the die assembly 32 each consist of 24 sets of elements, which are arranged in four horizontal rows one above the other and occupy an area whose width is essentially the same as the width of the frame parts 26 and 28, while the height of the flax essentially corresponds to half of the vertical height of the frame parts.
Each of the parts 30 and 32 of the tool arrangement is carried by a vertically arranged pressure plate 34 which in turn is mounted on the piston rod 38 of a horizontally arranged hydraulic piston drive, the cylinder of which is attached to the slide 3. Each die element 40 of the die assembly 32 is internally formed with cavities 42 and 44 which extend forwardly from the rear side of the element and determine the shape of the body 46 and the lid 48 of the flameproof cigar box with a hinged lid. According to Fig.
1 and 2, this known cigar box has a box body 46, the overall depth of which is somewhat greater than the length of the longer side of the rectangular cross-section of the box body. On the end face and on the sides of the box 46, the box body is offset at 50 for receiving the hinged lid 48, which is hinged to the free edge of the rear side of the box body 46 with a hinge 52. The edges 54 of the recessed portions of the side walls of the box body extend upward and backward from the lower edge 56 of the recessed portion of the front wall of the box body, as shown in FIG.
When the hinged lid is closed, the edges 56 and 54 of the recessed parts of the front wall and the side walls of the box body engage on complementary edges 58 and 60 of the front wall and the side walls of the hinged lid.
The frame parts 26 and 28 are formed in the middle of their vertical height with a horizontal cross piece 62 each, which divides the frame part into an upper and a lower rectangular frame field. The lower rectangular frame field of the frame part 28 on the opposite side of the path of heated film from the die is further subdivided by vertical and horizontal elements 64 and 65 so that an arrangement of twenty-four rectangular recesses 66 is present in four rows one above the other. When the stamp arrangement 30, as will be described in more detail below, is placed laterally on the heated film, each stamp element penetrates one of the recesses in the lower frame field of the frame part 28 on the side of the web opposite the stamp arrangement.
The lower frame field of the frame part 26 on the side of the film facing the stamp arrangement forms only a single recess 68 which is delimited by the central cross piece 62, the lower cross bar and the lower halves of the vertical side bars of the frame part 26.
The rectangular upper frame fields of the two frame parts are designed similar to one another and each have four horizontally extending groups of strips arranged at vertical intervals from one another. The strips 70 of the two upper frame fields lie opposite one another on opposite sides of the vertical path 12 of the heated film.
Each group of ledges 70 has an upper ledge 72 which faces the path of heated film a tapered edge 74 and a lower ledge 76 which faces the path of heated film by a series of six pairs 78 of rectangular, flat support surfaces.
11, each pair of supporting surfaces 78 is formed by a U-shaped part 80, the bow 82 of which is screwed to the strip 76, while the legs 84 of the part 80 taper away from the bow 82 and at their ends remote from the bow 82 the rectangular support surfaces 78 form.
When the frame parts 26 and 28 engage the film, the strips 70 touch the film along the edges 74 and on the support surfaces 78 and cause local cooling of the film and an increase in the streakiness of the film at the cooled points. When the film has been deformed with the aid of the punch assembly 30 and the die assembly 32, the punch assembly and the die assembly and the frame parts 26 and 28 are peeled off from the film. In the subsequent deformation process, these parts are reattached to the film, so that that part of the film that was arranged between the strips 70 of the upper frame fields during the first deformation process and was cooled by them is placed between the lower frame fields after the renewed attack. is tensioned.
In this position, each part of the film which is located in one of the twenty-four recesses 66 of the lower frame field 28, which is on the opposite side of the film from the die assembly 30, has three locally cooled parts, namely one horizontal, elongated, locally cooled - th part and below it two horizontally spaced apart, locally cooled, small rectangular surfaces.
As will be described below, the forehand is supported. e. In the horizontal, elongated, locally cooled part, the wrinkle-free deformation of the film on each element of the stamp arrangement, while the locally cooled, small rectangular surfaces contribute to the fact that the film is transferred from the stamp arrangement to the Matrix arrangement has a substantially uniform wall thickness.
The surfaces of the parts 80 and d of the strips 70 facing the film are coated with a material such as Teflon, for example, so that the film cannot stick to the strips.
The die elements 40 of the die arrangement 32 are arranged on the front side of the device and each have a front member 90 which is rectangular in cross-section and which is fastened with screws to the rear side of the vertically arranged, horizontally reciprocating press plate 34. As stated above, this press plate is moved by a hydraulic piston drive. Two complementary parts 92 and 94 are arranged on a rear surface of the front link. The part 92 is fastened to the front member 90 with screws, not shown, for example.
The part 94 is fastened to the piston rod of a piston drive, not shown, the cylinder of which is mounted on the rear side of the vertically arranged pressing plate 34 to which the front link 90 of the die element is fastened. The actuation of the pneumatic piston drive moves the two complementary parts 92 and 94 and the parts attached to these com plementary parts, described below, a little apart or together. The separation of the complementary parts 92 and 94 takes place at the front to back, i. H. in the longitudinal direction of the punch element, extending surfaces 96 and 98 of these parts.
Separation is necessary because the stamping element is undercut for forming the stepped parts 50 of the box and therefore a separation is expedient to facilitate the ejection of the finished box from the stamping element. However, the separation is not absolutely necessary.
VV; When the two main parts are in contact with one another, they form a vertical, stepped, rear surface 100. In the rear, flat part 102 of this stepped surface, the forward cavity 44 is formed, and in the front end 104, the cavity 42 is formed. These cavities correspond to the parts of the box body and the hinged lid of the box that are remote from the mouths. The cavity 42 corresponding to the box body is arranged partly in one of the two complementary parts and partly in the other complementary part.
On the flat part 102 of the stepped surface 100, in which the cavity 44 is formed, which corresponds to a part of the hinged lid of the box, a part 106 is mounted which determines the shape of the mouth of the hinged lid and for this purpose with cutting on three sides 108 and is formed on the fourth side with a flat part 110 which forms part of the hinge 52 which connects the hinged lid to the box body.
On the flat part 104 of the stepped rear surface 100 of the two complementary parts 92 and 94, in which the cavity 42 is formed, which corresponds to the part of the box body 46 remote from the mouth, two sets of parts 112 and 114 are mounted, which together the mouth part of the Schach telkörpers 46 form. Set 112 is attached to part 92 and set 114 is attached to part 94. Each of these sets of parts is undercut on its inner surface corresponding to the stepped part 50 of the box body touched by the hinged lid 48.
That set 112, which is attached to the part 92 in which the cavity 44 corresponding to the hinged lid is formed, has in its rear surface a flat part 116 which has the same extent as the flat part 110 of the part which is the mouth of the hinged lid corresponds. These flat parts with the same expansion together form the joint that connects the hinged lid and the body of the box to each other.
The two sets 112 and 114 not only form the hinge, but are also provided with cutting edges on their rear edges which together correspond to the mouth of the box body. For this purpose, cutting edges 118 are provided on the sides of the box body which, apart from the depth of the box body, are directed. On the part of the box body adjacent to the hinged lid, two oppositely inclined cutting edges 120 are provided, each connecting one end of the sheath on the side of the box body to one end of the flat part 116 forming the hinge.
On the remaining side of the box body three cutting edges 122, 124 and 126 are provided, two of which, namely 122 and 124, are inclined opposite to one another and each of which at one end with one end of a sheath 118 on the side of the box body and at the other end to one end of the sheath 126 connected to said remaining side of the box body which extends transversely to the depth of the box.
A plurality of channels, not shown, are formed in the die element and lead into the interior of the cavities 44 and 42 which correspond to the lid and body of the box. Air from a source of compressed air can be discharged through these channels into the cavities and sucked off from them with a vacuum pump.
The compressed air source and the vacuum pump are selectively connected to the ducts leading to the cavities 42 and 44 by a piston valve.
The piston of this slide can be moved from a neutral position into positions in which the compressed air source or the pump is connected to the channels. The movement of the spool is controlled by microswitches that are on. selected locations of the path of the downward moving carriage 3 are arranged.
Each punch element of the punch assembly 30 consists of an assembly which has a rear member 130 which is rectangular in cross section and which is fastened on the front surface of the vertically arranged pressing plate 34, which is horizontally movable to and fro and, for this purpose, one horizontally from the piston rod geordneben piston drive is carried. The cylinder of this piston drive is attached to the slide 3. The rear part 130 of each stamp element is provided with an electric heating cartridge.
Mounted on the front surface of the rear member 130 of the punch element is a member 132 which is formed on its front surface with a solid protrusion 134 having inclined side surfaces 136 which the cutting edges 108 and 118-126 of the die element engage when the punch element is complete is inserted into the die element.
The solid projection 134 has a forwardly facing surface 139 with a flat part 138 and an inclined part 140. The inclined part carries a first punch pin 142, which has a rectangular cross-section and during the closing movement of the punch element and the die element in the hinged lid cavity 44 of the stamp element is arranged. The flat surface 138 carries a second punch pin 144, which also has a rectangular cross section and, in the closed position of the punch and the matrix element, is arranged in the cavity 42 of the matrix element, which corresponds to the box body.
When the stamping elements engage the film in such a way that each of these elements protrudes through a recess 66 in the lower frame field of the frame part 28, which is arranged on the side of the web 12 of the film opposite the stamping elements, the horizontal, elongated, locally cooled parts extend which were cooled during the immediately preceding deformation process with the help of the edges 74, parallel to and between the two punch pins 142 un; d 144 defs assigned to SbempeLelements.
The cavities in each die element have considerably larger dimensions than the two punch pins on each punch element. In the closed position of the elements, each ram pin is arranged in such a way that its side surfaces are arranged at approximately the same distances from the corresponding side walls of the cavity.
As in the die element, channels are also provided in the punch pins 142 and 144 of the punch element, through which air can be supplied to the interior of the plastic hollow body located on the punch element and sucked off from it. For this purpose, a compressed air source and a vacuum pump are connected to the channels in the stamp pins 142 and 144 via a piston valve. The piston of the slide can be moved from a neutral position into Stel lungs, in which it connects the channels in the plunger pin either with the compressed air source or the suction pump. This movement of the piston is controlled by microswitches that are actuated by the carriage 3 at selected points of its downward movement.
Between those surfaces of the punch element on which the two punch pins are provided, there is a flat surface 148, which is arranged in the closing position of the punch element and the die element at a small distance from the flat parts 110 and 116 of the die element with the same extent, so that the Articulation 52 can be formed between the box body and the hinged lid.
In operation of the device, the hot plastic film emerges from the outlet opening 22 of the nozzle of the extruder 6 and then passes between the horizontally arranged rollers 8 and 10, of which it is moved vertically downwards along the path.
The rectangular frame parts 26 and 28 move downwards with the slide 3 at the speed of the film and are then moved sideways by means of their pneumatic piston drives so that they clamp part of the hot plastic film between them. In this phase, the upper part of the clamped part of the film is locally cooled by the parts of the rods 70 which are in contact with the film. Then the punch assembly 30, which moves downwards together with the die assembly 32 at the same speed as the film, is actuated by the hydraulic piston drive assigned to it and located on the slide 3 and moved laterally against the lower part of the clamped film part.
This lower part had been cooled locally during the previous work cycle. During this movement, the second punch pin 144 of each punch element displaces the plastic film sideways through the corresponding recess 66 of the twenty-four recesses in the lower frame so that a generally pyramid-shaped cavity is formed in the plastic film above each punch element 30, which as a result the application of the film to the front peripheral edges of the stamp element is closed. The heating element arranged in the steering element heats the steering element so far
that a considerable local heating of the foil by contact with the empel element is prevented. At this point in time, air is sucked out of the closed cavity through the channels provided in each stamp element 30, so that the film part is sucked downward against the two stamps 142 and 144 and thus adapts itself fully to the shape of the stamp element.
During the evacuation of the cavity, the movement of the film to be guided to the stamp element is controlled in such a way that the formation of undesired wrinkles is prevented, because the locally cooled, elongated part is present in the film that leads to the stamp pins 142 and 144 of the Stamp element is parallel and is located between them. The piston drive located on the slide 3, which causes the die element 32 to move sideways, is then actuated in such a way that the die arrangement 32 reaches the closed position opposite the punch arrangement.
The fact that the film was pulled against the stamp element before the die element executes its sideways movement ensures that a maximum amount of plastic film material of essentially uniform thickness enters the cavities of the die element.
The next step in the process consists in transferring the deformed parts of the film from the punch elements to the die elements. For this purpose, compressed air is introduced into the channels of the punch element and air is simultaneously sucked out through the channels of the die element. The pressure difference generated in this way on opposite sides of the deformed parts of the film has the effect that the film is detached from the stamp elements and adapts to the shape of the cavities in the die elements.
In this part of the process, the compressed air that is supplied by the stamp element causes the plastic in the deformed and transferred parts to harden. During the transfer of the deformed parts of the film from the stamp elements to the die elements, the two localized cooling elements associated with each stamp element prevent , rectangular parts of the film a considerable weakening of the wall thickness in the area of the corners of the second punch pin 144, so that the transferred film parts have a uniform wall thickness.
In this phase of the process, the shaped boxes are cut off from the film material surrounding them and the piston drives are actuated again, which cause the punch and die assembly to move sideways, so that this assembly is even more closed and therefore the punch and press plates 34 carrying the die assembly. As a result, the cutting edges of each tool element penetrate the film.
After the boxes have been cut from the surrounding film material, the tool elements 30 and 32 and the frame parts 26 and 28 are moved into the retracted position by the piston drives assigned to them, which are arranged on the slide 3. As a result of the undercut in each die ssitemjant, that separated box is now in its die element. To eject the boxes, the two complementary parts 92 and 94 of each die element are somewhat separated from one another by actuating the vertically arranged piston tr. Zs provided for the serl-s weck.
The air is then introduced through the channels into the cavities 42 and 44 of each die element, so that the shaped boxes are blown out of the associated die elements and arrive on a chute 200 (see FIG. 4).
Finally, in the method, the tool elements and frame parts arranged on the carriage 3, which were moved from heat during the method with the film, are quickly moved back to an upper part of the machine. The parts 92 and 94 are then closed with the aid of the pneumatic piston drive assigned to them, whereupon the work cycle can be repeated.
In the following working cycle, that part of the film that has been locally cooled in the working cycle described is between the lower frame fields, the frame parts and between the punch and die arrangements. The plastic film from which the boxes have been separated is moved vertically downwards by WaiteceAntnfebsroHan in the lower part of the supporting structure, then granulated and conveyed up to the entrance, the extruder.
The arrangement and operation of the hydraulic rule system of the device is not the subject of the present invention. This system also causes the frame parts 26 and 28 to close against the film, the evacuation of the closed cavities formed in the film by means of the stamp element, the separation of the complete entary parts 92 and 94, the opening of the frame parts 26 and 28 and the closing of parts 92 and 94. All these operations in the working cycle are initiated by microswitches which are actuated during the downward movement of the slide in predetermined positions of the same and control the function of associated piston valves.
The invention can of course also be applied to other deep-drawn objects, for example for the production of milk bottles.
