Process for the preparation of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) It is known that in the reaction of 1-phenyl-4,5-dibromopyridazon- (6) with methylamine, dimethyl or Diethylamine contains the 1-phenyl-5-bromopyridazone- (6) substituted in the 4-position by the corresponding amino groups (Annalen der Chemie, Volume 518 [1935], pages 296 to 297). The reaction is carried out in solution at about 100.degree.
Anhydrous alcohol is used as the solvent.
It is also known that 4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) is obtained by reacting 4,5-dichloropyridazon with an anhydrous, saturated alcoholic ammonia solution at 150 to 160 C ( Chem. Pharm. Bull [Jap.] 6/4, p. 331).
According to the Journal of Organic Chemistry Volume 23 [1958], page 1537, the same reaction is also carried out in the presence of anhydrous alcohol at 185 ° C.
A major disadvantage of this method of working is that you have to work in anhydrous alcohol. Another disadvantage is the moderate yield despite very long reaction times. The specified reaction times are up to 60 hours.
It has now been found that 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) is obtained in almost quantitative yield and much shorter reaction times if 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) is obtained with aqueous ammonia at temperatures between 90 and 130 C, preferably between 105 and 120 C, optionally under increased pressure.
In the process according to the invention, one obtains in short reaction times - the reaction times are generally between 30 minutes and 2 hours from the practically water-insoluble 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) an equally practically water-insoluble, pure one 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazone- (6). Another advantage of this process is the purity of the reaction product, since under these conditions practically no undesirable byproducts are formed.
If 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) is reacted with ammonia in the presence of an organic solvent such as methanol, the product is dark in color and contaminated by resinous additions. The melting point is then 170 to 185 C. When working in the presence of water, you immediately get a crystalline pale product without resins, with a melting point between 190 and 200 C.
The process can be carried out at normal pressure or elevated pressure. It is expedient to work at a pressure between 4 and 12 at. But you can also work at higher pressures, e.g. B. work up to 50 at. Depending on the reaction temperature, the pressure is given by the intrinsic pressure of the reaction material. You can set a higher pressure by forcing in a gas such as nitrogen or ammonia.
The aqueous ammonia can be fed to the reaction vessel as a concentrated aqueous ammonia solution. However, liquid or vaporous ammonia can also be introduced into the aqueous suspension of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazone (6). As a rule, the concentration of ammonia in the conversion mixture is between 80 and 310 grams per liter. One can also use higher ammonia concentrations, e.g. 350 to 500 grams per liter of conversion mixture work.
Finally, the process can also be carried out at low concentrations. However, at least twice the molar amount of ammonia, based on the 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) to be converted, must be used in order to obtain 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloro in good yields. pyridazon- (6) to succeed.
Known catalysts such as copper or its salts can be added to further accelerate the reaction. Suitable copper salts are e.g. B. Kup ferchlorid, copper sulfate or copper acetate. The catalysts can be used in amounts of 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the reaction solution. Additions of surface-active substances such as alkylaryl sulfonates, polyethylene oxides, fatty alcohol sulfonates or other surfactants facilitate the implementation.
They can be used in amounts of 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the reaction solution.
The process can be carried out discontinuously or continuously.
1-Phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) can be used directly as a herbicide. It is also a valuable intermediate for the production of dyes.
The parts given in the examples are parts by weight. They relate to parts of volume like kilograms to liters.
Example 1 10 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) are suspended in 100 parts of concentrated aqueous ammonia and shaken in an iron autoclave at 130 ° C. for 2 hours. This results in a pressure of 11at. After cooling, the suspension obtained is filtered and washed with water. 9 parts of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) are obtained.
Example 2 In a stirred tank with a capacity of 500 parts by volume, 40.4 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazone- (6), 200 parts by volume of concentrated ammonia and 100 parts by volume of water are added for 2.5 hours 125 to 128 C. The pressure is 7 atm. After cooling, letting down the pressure, filtering and drying, 36 parts of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) with a melting point of 190 to 195 ° C. are obtained.
According to an ultra-red analysis, the purity of this product is 98 to 99%. Example 3 200 parts by volume of concentrated aqueous ammonia are placed in a stirred tank with a capacity of 500 parts by volume.
After heating to 100 ° C., 40 parts per hour of a suspension of 5 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloro-pyridazon- (6) in 35 parts of concentrated aqueous ammonia are pumped in. The temperature is increased to 120 C.
The pressure is between 5 and 6 atmospheres. After an hour you begin to continuously withdraw enough suspension from a riser pipe equipped with a valve that the level in the kettle is maintained.
After filtering through a suction filter, rewashing with water and drying, 42 parts of 1-phenyl-4-ammo-5-chloropyridazone (6) are obtained in 10 hours, which according to ultrared analysis still contains 1 weight 531 'of starting material. The product also contains 92% by weight of 1- phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) and 7% by weight of 1- phenyl-4-chloro-5-aminopyridazon- (6)
.
Example 4 One works in a circulation apparatus with a volume of 100 parts by volume, which is provided with a ship-shaped stirrer which pumps the suspension around.
At a temperature of 120 C, a pressure of 6 atm is set using gaseous ammonia. 50 parts of a suspension of 1.5 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazon- (6) in 3.5 parts by volume of water are pumped in every hour. The corresponding amount of reaction suspension is withdrawn by means of a valve that opens and closes periodically.
After spinning on a peeler centrifuge who obtained after 10 hours of operation 125 parts of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazone (6).
Example 5 0.74 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloropyridazone (6) and 4 parts by volume of concentrated aqueous ammonia are placed in a stirred autoclave with a capacity of 8 parts by volume. It presses on cold 3 atmospheres of nitrogen, heated to 100 ° C. and kept at this temperature for 2 hours.
After slow cooling and letting down, 0.624 part of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) is obtained by filtration.
Example 6 100 parts by volume of aqueous concentrated ammonia are placed in a stirred tank with a capacity of 300 parts by volume.
After heating to 110 ° C., 40 parts per hour of a suspension of 5 parts of 1-phenyl-4,5-dichloro-pyridazon- (6) in 35 parts of concentrated aqueous ammonia are pumped in. So much gaseous ammonia is injected into the gas space of the boiler that a total pressure of 7 atmospheres is maintained. It is stirred intensely.
This boiler is connected to a second boiler of the same size and equipment by means of a riser pipe, which is provided with a valve that opens and closes periodically. A pressure between 5 and 6 atmospheres is set in this second tank. The temperature is kept at 120.degree. 30 minutes after the start of the introduction of the suspension, reaction product is pressed into the second kettle via the discharge valve of the first kettle which is coupled to a level control. The discharge from vessel 2 is the same as for vessel 1 and begins 60 minutes after the start of pumping into vessel 1.
The discharge suspension, which contains a lot of ammonia, is let down in an evacuated vessel and poured onto a suction filter via a barometric drain. The ammonia sucked off under reduced pressure can be returned to the reaction.
Within 20 hours, 85 parts of 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloropyridazon- (6) are obtained, which according to the ultrared analysis no longer contains any starting material.
