Le moteur électrique selon l'invention peut être équipé d'un circuit de commande électronique établi selon le schéma de la fig. 15. Ce circuit à semi-conduc teur comprend: - un pont 39 de diodes au silicium qui redresse le courant monophasé du réseau 40; - une diode contrôlée ou thyratron solide 41 ali mentée par la sortie dudit pont pour fournir le courant de commande du moteur électrique M; - un dispositif limiteur 42 disposé dans le circuit d'alimentation dudit moteur et qui débite un signal sur sa sortie 43 si l'intensité du courant débité par la diode contrôlée 41 dépasse une limite prédéterminée; -un dispositif 44 branché aux bornes 45 du moteur M (aux bornes des balais 29) pour débiter une tension sensiblement proportionnelle à la vitesse de rotation du moteur;

Electric motor with commutator The object of the invention is an electric motor with commutator, which is more especially intended to operate in a wide range of rotational speeds and which is suitable in particular for controlling the spindles of machine tools, for machines. household appliances, typewriters and calculators, etc.
The object of the invention is above all to make this engine capable of responding better than to date to the various requirements of practice, in particular as regards both its reduced inertia and its ease of balancing and adjustment of the speed. 'air gap and its ease of assembly, in particular for the control of the aforesaid pins.
In order to clearly establish the interest and the technical progress of the invention, the conditions currently required of commutator motors for driving machine tool spindles, in the various mechanical, electrical or electronic techniques, are recalled.
Given the need to avoid transmissions by belts, gears, etc., these motors must increasingly be mounted directly and concentrically on their support shafts, in particular on the spindles of machine tools. They must adapt to a wide range of speeds and be able to rotate at high speeds, said range varying for example from 150 to 7000 revolutions.
The engines must, on the other hand, present a high torque at low speed and be able to be controlled by an electronic control, in order to allow a number of revolutions previously imposed that the engine must maintain despite the variable stresses which oppose it.
The motors must also, in the event of intervention of a force greater than the torque available to the motor, be able to stop without raising the heating temperature until the moment when the cause which obliges the motor to stop is suppressed, allowing the engine to free itself, in which case the engine must be able to resume the exact number of revolutions which had previously been displayed by its electronic control.
A large number of applications of these motors also require the total absence of vibrations and a very low inertia of the rotating parts allowing the variation, with extreme speed, of the number of revolutions.
On the other hand, the size must be as small as possible. Among the other requirements, there is that of limiting and maintaining the precision of the motor shaft. This results in the need to evacuate the heat before its level has reached a value which may disturb the tolerances of the coupled rotating parts.
Known motors do not meet the requirements mentioned above.
These motors have high inertia and have a heavy manifold, making them unsuitable for high speed use, while disc-shaped rotor motors with printed circuit boards, which have low inertia, lack stiffness at high speed. low speed.
In addition, conventional motors will not allow adjustment of the air gap. As for the rotor-disc motors in printed circuits, they require a relatively high current intensity because they tolerate only a low voltage.
Conventional engines cannot be dynamically balanced, they have too much inertia when starting and when changing speeds; their small diameter shafts cannot provide sufficient housing for the drive spindles or the passage of bars; their weight is too great, and their manufacture long and expensive.
Printed circuit motors have a very light rotor, but easily deformable and do not withstand high loads; they cannot be considered beyond the small powers.
On the other hand, the design of the printed circuit makes it necessary to work at low voltage, for lack of sufficient coil length. This causes big faults in the feed and, consequently, a low efficiency.
Their manufacture uses techniques that are not very industrialized and expensive.
The only type of motor which eliminates some of these drawbacks is that which is based on a hollow cylindrical rotor of thin thickness, carrying inside an iron cylinder intended to close the magnetic circuit obtained by a conventional stator.
This motor nevertheless has the drawback of not allowing manufacture above small powers, this being due to the cylindrical shape of the rotor which is not resistant to centrifugal and torsional stresses.
In addition, the rotor cannot be easily de-molded, having no relief, and its air gap is not adjustable, but it must be obtained taking into account the machining precision between rotor and stator.
When the known motors are manifolded, they furthermore have the shortcoming of using molded or mica-insulated manifolds which are excessive in weight and difficult to manufacture.
The electric motor with collector which forms the object of the invention aims to remedy the difficulties indicated in the above. This motor is likely to lend itself to many applications, such as machine tools, household appliances, typewriters and calculators, etc.
The motor according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a rotor comprising a hollow conical mantle formed by the armature winding embedded in a plastic coating, a blade collector and a sheath. axial extending inside the mantle and, on the other hand, a stator consisting of a frame, a brush holder device, a portion of the frame external to the conical mantle of the rotor and carrying the induction poles and a reinforcement portion internal to this mantle, this internal reinforcement portion being free to rotate with respect to the external reinforcement portion and with respect to the rotor, or angularly integral with the external armature portion or of the rotor.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, various embodiments of the engine which is the subject of the invention.

The collector motor shown in fie. 1 and 10 comprises: - on the one hand, a rotating part A constituted by a conical rotor 1 (fig. 2) with an armature winding 2 (fig. 6), and by a collector 4 with blades 5 (fie. 2), the whole embedded in a plastic coating 6, being made integral with a cylindrical sleeve 3.
- on the other hand, a fixed part B comprising, in addition to a casing 7 (fig. 10) and a brush holder 8 (fig. 3 and 4), a frame portion 9, external to the rotor 1, carrying the induction poles 10 (fie. 5), and a portion of internal reinforcement 11, free on the sheath 3.
The conical rotor 1 (fie. 2), about 2 mm thick, comprises armature coils 2 (fig. 6) in copper, shaped and connected to the blades 5 of the manifold 4 by conductors 12. The coils 2 and the conductors 12 are embedded in a mass 6 of a plastic material (such as the synthetic resin known under the trademark Araldite) insulating from an electric point of view and resistant from a mechanical point of view. . The construction of the conical rotor without ferromagnetic material gives it great lightness, and therefore low inertia, which allows rapid changes in speed of rotation. Its conical shape also gives it great rigidity, further increased by the peripheral ring 13.
In addition, the conical shape of the rotor 1 allows easy adjustment of the air gap, by longitudinal displacement of the rotor between the two portions 9 and 11 of the stator B.
The collector 4 (fie. 1 and 2) also has a small thickness (of the order of half a centimeter) and does not include any ferromagnetic element, so as to have low inertia. It comprises a series of copper blades 5 embedded in the same mass 6 of plastic material as the induced coils 2.
The manifold 4 is formed, for example, by stamping, creeping or extrusion of a blank, with slots or connection holes for the conductors 12 of the coils which will advantageously be executed on an automatic winding machine. Before pouring the plastic material, slots 14 delimiting the blades 5 are made in the blank in the blank, these slots however not extending over the entire length of the blank, in order to maintain the cylindrical shape (fig. 12 and 13).
In a first mode of manufacture, illustrated in FIG. 12, the portion without slots of the blank constitutes a central portion 15, and the corresponding slots of the lateral portions 16 and 17 are extended in this portion 15 after the casting and setting of the plastic 6. In a second embodiment, illustrated in FIG. 13, the portion without slits constitutes the end IS which will be cut after casting and setting of the plastic material.
To produce very long collectors that can rotate at high speed, it is also possible to provide a V-shaped groove 19 arranged in the middle of the manifold (fi-. 14) and place in this groove an insulating and solid wire 20 (eg in a superpolyamide) which, embedded in the cast resin, will increase the resistance of the collector to centrifugal force.
The metal sleeve 3 is made integral with the other elements of the rotor as a result of the taking of the plastic material which is molded directly on the sleeve and which penetrates into grooves 74 formed around the periphery of the sleeve. It is this rotating sheath 3 which transmits the torque to the member to be dragged, a machine tool spindle, for example. The fact that it is hollow makes it possible to mount said member coaxially inside the sleeve, which is very advantageous for example for producing spindle motors (FIGS. 1 and 10).
The rotating assembly A is thus constituted by elements joined together when the plastic material 6 sets. This part A is centered and balanced when it leaves the mold. It is also very light and rigid, which allows a high speed of rotation as well as a rapid variation of this speed.
Part B includes, housed inside the broken car 7, the stator 9, 11 and the brush holder 8.
The outer frame portion 9 of the stator (FIGS. 1 and 10), the position of which in the frame 7 can be modified, is made of soft iron or of laminated sheet. The induced field is produced by radial permanent magnets 10 housed in shoes 21 and coated in a mass 22 of resin pierced with longitudinal channels 23 of the tines to receive magnetizing wires (not shown), able to ensure magnetization and possibly to control speed by adding or subtracting an auxiliary magnetic field from the main magnetic field created by the permanent magnets 10.
The internal frame portion II of the stator (fig. 1) is made like the external portion 9 of soft iron or laminated sheet. It is mounted either free on the sleeve 3, or fixed relative to the carcass; in the first case, a wall can be provided between the sleeve and the outside of the cone of the rotor to improve the rigidity of the latter.
In a variant shown in FIG. 7, the outer portion 9 of the stator is formed by U-shaped sheets (obtained by bending, profiling, sintering, etc.), juxtaposed so that their wings 91 constitute poles receiving windings 92 and carrying the pole pieces 21 .
In another variant, shown in FIG. 8, the outer portion 9 comprises a rolled tube welded at 93, on which laminated poles 94, 21 are mounted. In a variant of the latter arrangement shown in FIG. 9, the annular part of the stator is formed by cut segments.
The various sheets or other elements of the magnetic field are established using known materials, preferably ARMCO iron or using ferrite. The brush holder (fig. 1, 3 and 4) is of very simple and inexpensive construction, being made from commercially available profiles. It consists of a support plate 24 on which are fixed two pairs of profiles 25, of U-shaped cross section. Each pair of profiles constitutes, with a metal plate 26 and an insulating plate 27, a cage for a brush. 29. The ability to adjust the position of the irons 25, assembled on the plate 24 by screws, allows smooth mounting of the brushes in their cage, exact and without play.
Two hairpin springs 30, mounted on axles 31 fixed on the plate 24, apply the brushes 29 with the desired pressure on the collector 4.
The sleeve 3 rotates in rolling bearings 32 carried by the ends 33 of the frame 7 (FIG. 10). The 32 bearings are housed in 34 bushings fitted with 35 grooves allowing the passage of the cooling air. In fig. 10, arrows show the circulation of cooling air which enters, at 36, through the grooves 35 of the left-hand ring 34 , cools the bearing front and the brushes 9, passes between the rotor 1 and the external portion 9 of the stator, then in the wheel of a turbine 37 carried by the ring 13, before to cool the rear bearing and exit at 38, to a temperature approximately 5 to 10 higher than the temperature of the air drawn in at 36.

The use of this form of drive neck makes it possible to lighten the tower part of the motor and to reduce the bulk in the axial direction as well as the inertia.
The molded plastic part is shaped so as to leave the collector complete freedom for its expansion in two directions, namely: axially towards the front face 55a intended for contact with the brushes, and radially, towards the peripheral face 55b. The windings 54a are connected in any known and necessary manner to the blades of the collector 55.
At the other end of the rotor 54, the plastic material 54b directly forms, by molding, fins 54c ensuring the circulation of the air and, consequently, the ventilation. tilation and cooling. We thus integrate. the fan to the rotor, simplifying manufacture and assembly.
This provision does not exclude the use of an added additional fan, if special working conditions so require. On the other hand, the dynamic balancing of the finned rotor can be achieved by removing and / or possibly adding material to the fins.
With the rotor 54 is molded directly, in one piece, an axial sleeve 54d which is internally reinforced, for example in the form of a thin metal sleeve 56, or in any other way: metal net, rods, etc. Interior 54e bearing surfaces on the central shaft may be directly formed by the insulating molded material, inside the sleeve 54a.
The stator comprises a part 59 located outside the conical rotor and an internal part 60, which closes the field. The internal part 60 is extended beyond the rotor by a wide flange 60a, which is secured peripherally to the external fixed part 59 by screws 61 screwed into support sectors 62, in solidarity with part 59.
In a variant not shown, the internal iron may be mobile and integral with the rotor. In this case, the internal iron integrated in the rotor rotates with the latter. This arrangement involves an execution of the internal iron in laminated soft iron, in order to eliminate disturbances.
In the motor described, the internal iron which closes the field can therefore be produced in three ways: - being free with respect to the stator and the rotor, and mounted on bearings, as in the embodiment shown in fig. . 1; - By being fixed and connected to the stator as in the embodiment shown in FIG. 17; - By being integrated into the rotor, and therefore mounted so as to rotate with said rotor, which implies an execution in laminated soft iron.
The bearings necessary to support the axial shaft can be mounted either on lateral flanges of the stator, or inside the iron intended to close the magnetic field when this iron is fixed and integral with the stator (bearings 78 </ I> in fig. 17).
We know the difficulties of access to the brushes and adjustment of the brushes, the checks, cleaning and replacement which are required in a relatively frequent manner. The arrangements made on the engine shown in FIG. 17 remedy the usual drawbacks. In this motor, the brush holder device comprises mainly two members, namely a support 63 having slides and a brush holder slide 66 (FIG. 17). These two elements are preferably made of molded insulating material.
The support 63, of general circular shape. adapts to the fixed peripheral part 50 of the stator, to which it is fixed by means of screws 64 (fig. 17). The support 63 has for this purpose oblong openings 63a for the passage of said screws (fig. 21), so as to allow angular adjustment of the brush holder assembly, in order to find the plane. exact switching.
The support 63 has parallel slides 63b open at one end, and closed at the other end by a transverse partition 63c. On the slides 63b </ I > Retaining plates 65 are attached and fixed, the underside of which has a sloping edge 65a.
The support 63 has, again in the central part, a large circular opening 63rd for the free passage of the rotating axial sleeve 54d integral with the rotor , and also so as to completely free the front face of the collector 55. The edge of the opening 63e is sloping and comes in close proximity to the reader neck 55 to retain the brushes when the slide.
The brush holder slide 66 is slidably adjusted, by its angled edges 66a, between the slides 63b, by resting, with the strictly necessary and adjustable play, between the sloped faces 65a of the plates 65, and the sloped faces 63d at the base of the slides 63b.
The slide is axially open at 66b to be freely engaged around the sleeve 54b. The slide also has four carefully positioned 66e housings. , the bottom of which is open, and in which are placed the brushes 67 which come to rest against the collector 55.
The 67 brushes are held firmly and resiliently against the collector by the free end 68a of leaf springs 68 each wound in a spiral axis 69 mounted between bearings 66d of the slide. The inner end of the springs 68 is fixed to the axle 69 and the latter is fixed in relation to the bearings 66d, by means of screws 70, so as to adjust and obtain the necessary judicious pressure on each of the brushes 67 in the direction of the collector 55.
The connections are made by means of conductors 71 which alternately connect the brushes to terminals 72, from which conductors 73 ensure the connection with contact blades 74. The blades 74 are fixed near the end of the slide which, during assembly, comes close to the partition 63c of the support. The partition 63c carries elastic grippers 75 twice folded, between which the blades 74. With the grippers engage with elastic friction. > 75 are connected the conductors 76.
When the slide is in place, the continuity of the electrical circuit is thus ensured directly and under good conditions, while having the possibility of removing the brush holder slide instantly and at will.
The slide 66 is positioned with precision along the slides 63b by means of stop balls 77 cooperating with the depressions presented by the edges 66a </ I > of the slide. Locking screws can also be provided to lock the slide.
A quick replacement of the brushes can be obtained by removing the slide and immediately replacing it with another standard slide, fitted with its brushes. We can then proceed in the workshop, on a special bench, to check the brushes of the removed slide, to their replacement, to cleaning, to the pressure adjustment, with great precision, while having the necessary time, in all convenience, without immobilize the motors which continue to operate.
The electric motor according to the invention can be equipped with an electronic control circuit established according to the diagram of FIG. 15. This semiconductor circuit comprises: a bridge 39 of silicon diodes which rectifies the single-phase current of the network 40; a controlled diode or solid thyratron 41 supplied by the output of said bridge to supply the control current of the electric motor M; a limiting device 42 arranged in the supply circuit of said motor and which outputs a signal to its output 43 if the intensity of the current supplied by the monitored diode 41 exceeds a predetermined limit; a device 44 connected to the terminals 45 of the motor M (to the terminals of the brushes 29) to supply a voltage substantially proportional to the speed of rotation of the motor;
a device for displaying the desired speed which is constituted, for example, by a potentiometer capable of bbiting an imposed voltage proportional to the displayed speed; - a differential amplifier 47 or a similar device receiving on its two inputs 48 and 49 respectively the voltage imposed by the device 46 and the voltage substantially proportional to the speed of rotation and amplifying the error voltage equal to the difference between the two input voltages for delivering an amplified error voltage, this amplifier also being controlled by the output signal of the limiting device 42,
in order to reduce the output voltage in the presence of said output signal indicating an overshoot of the current applied to the motor M; a unijunction transistor 61 controlled by the amplified error voltage and in turn controlling the diode 41.
The control device of FIG. 15 thus ensures the automatic and very rapid adjustment of the speed of rotation of the motor M to the speed displayed in the positive device 46, it being understood that any other electronic device could be used for the same purpose.
When we want a very wide range of rotational speeds of the motor M and great stability of the actual speed of the latter despite variations in the voltage of the network and / or the resistive torque to which the rotor of the motor is subjected, it is possible to modify the portion to the right of the vertical ZZ of FIG. 15, as illustrated in fig. 16.
In this variant, the voltage proportional to the speed of rotation of the motor M is given by a tacho dynamo 44a whose rotor is driven (with or without reduction) by the rotor of the motor M (link shown in 52). The voltage supplied by the tachometer, being influenced neither by the own resistance of the motor, nor by the characteristics of the control circuit, is strictly proportional to the speed of rotation of the motor M. This voltage is displayed by the tachometer 53 .
The electric motor which is the subject of the invention has, compared to electric motors of the same type already in existence, numerous advantages, in particular the following: - lightness and balanced shape of the rotating parts, with very reduced inertia, - robustness, in particular good resistance to torsion and centrifugation, - reduced size, - absence of vibrations at all speeds and silent operation, due to the lightness of the rotating masses and the possibility of perfect static and dynamic balancing, - acceleration and very rapid deceleration, - lower overall weight than current motors of similar type, - very wide range of speeds, - armature reaction is low, - design allowing power extrapolations,
- the winding allows the use of sufficient voltage, and the faults of printed circuit motors which work at low voltage are avoided, - absence of generally deformable side plates, which distorts the alignment of the shafts, - the stator rests on a resistant frame, without influencing the spindle supports, - the large diameter of the rotor and its very reduced thickness allows a large internal diameter for the use of resistant spindles or the passage of large diameter shafts, - the air gap between stator and rotor is very easily adjustable, and with extreme precision, by the axial displacement of the rotor,
- the relief of the conical rotor makes it possible to apply the technique of molding and polymerization of resins under excellent conditions, with the aim of obtaining a monolithic rotor, - the design allows an advantageous industrial execution in very large series of various parts or parts of the engine, - the engine still has excellent efficiency and a cost per use which is lower than that of comparable engines known and in use today, - possibility of coupling the engine directly to a spindle drive, using the same bearings for the spindle and the motor, - regularity of rotation at low speed to avoid any flexible coupling between the rotor and the spindle.
