Fig. 1 einen Zuschnitt zur Herstellung einer Pappschachtel,
Method and device for producing and / or closing cardboard boxes or the like
The invention relates to a method for producing and / or closing cardboard boxes or the like by gluing the box parts to be connected to one another, in particular the overlapping flaps of the blank from which the box is obtained.
The method according to the invention consists in that for gluing the parts of the box that are to be connected to one another, a heat-setting adhesive that is solid and non-adhesive at room temperature, in particular a hot melt adhesive or a thermoplastic synthetic resin adhesive or the like, is used and the parts to be glued are used The box can be heated to the adhesive and setting temperature of this adhesive using light pressure.
The technical progress achieved with this process consists primarily in the fact that the manufacture of the box z. B. from a prepared cardboard blank and / or the filling and subsequent closing of the cardboard box can be carried out much cleaner than before and the contents or the folding, filling and closing machine can be soiled by the previously customary, cold-setting, liquid adhesives is avoided. The gluing process is also much faster, since the setting time of the hot glue can be significantly reduced in relation to that of the cold glue. It is also possible with the method according to the invention to obtain adhesive points that are continuous and uniform in area, which ensure a complete sealing of the box.
Another essential advantage of the method according to the invention is that the boxes or cardboard blanks delivered by the manufacturer of the cardboard boxes to the consumer of the same can already be provided with a dry, solid adhesive layer or adhesive film on the predetermined adhesive areas, which is fixed during storage and handling the boxes or the cardboard blanks in no way have a disruptive effect, even in the case of moistening, and only gains its adhesive properties when heated to the required temperature.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the hot-setting adhesive, which is solid and non-sticky at room temperature, can be applied in the form of a solution, dispersion, emulsion or in powder or paste form by any printing process in place of the printing ink on the parts of the cardboard box or the parts to be glued Turn the cardboard box blank applied. The advantage achieved is that the adhesive, if desired, also in the course of printing the cardboard box blank, for example in the same operation. B. by the last pressure roller of a time or multi-roller rotary machine can be applied.
Lettering, gravure, flat and screen printing with a flat or cylindrical printing form can be used to apply Ides adhesive.
Rotogravure printing has proven to be particularly advantageous because it enables fairly high application speeds of Ide's adhesive on the one hand and, on the other hand, due to the scraping off Ide of excess adhesive by the squeegee from the gravure cylinder, a clean and economical way of working.
The device for carrying out the method according to the invention can consist of a preferably automatic.
There are filling and closing machines in which the usual glue containers and glue application devices are absent or switched off and which is characterized by the arrangement of heated pressing devices for temporarily heating and pressing the cardboard box parts to be glued.
Further details and explanations of the present invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it:
1 shows a blank for the production of a cardboard box,
FIG. 2 shows the cardboard box formed from the blank according to FIG. 1, but still open at both ends, in a diagrammatic representation.
3 and 4 the closing of the upper end of the box after the box has been filled, in a diagrammatic representation,
5 to 17 show various printing processes which can be used to apply the adhesive to the cardboard compartment blank according to FIG. 1, in a highly schematic representation.
The blank 1 shown in FIG. 1 for the production of cardboard boxes can be provided with any one or more multicolored imprints on its outer surfaces 2 to 7. The flaps 8 to 14 of this blank, on the other hand, are provided with a covering or film made of heat-setting adhesive that is solid and non-sticky at room temperature. In particular, hot melt adhesives or adhesives based on thermoplastic synthetic material or the like come into consideration.
The box 101 is formed by folding the cardboard blank 1 and gluing the flaps 8 to the blank part 2, as shown in FIG. To glue the parts 2, 8, they are pressed together and temporarily heated to the temperature at which the plastic covering of the flap 8 becomes sticky and sets. Depending on the adhesive used, the contact pressure of the parts 2, 8 to be bonded can be maintained for a certain period of time, even after the heating has ceased, until a secure and firm bond is achieved.
In a similar manner, the one generally lower end of the box 101 is then closed by laying, pressing, heating and gluing the blank flaps 12, 14, 9, 7.
After the box 101 has been filled, the other, generally upper end of the box is finally closed by laying, pressing, heating and gluing the blank flaps 11, 13, 10, 6, as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4.
The sealing of the second, generally upper end of the box and preferably also of the first, generally lower end of the box, can be carried out by the filling and closing machine for the boxes. This machine can have any structure that is known per se and is therefore not shown in more detail. The devices for applying the liquid, cold-binding glue previously used in such machines can, however, be omitted entirely or switched off.
After the filled box 101 has passed through the folding devices, which simply place the closing flaps 11, 13, 10, 6 of the upper end of the box on top of each other (Fig. 3), these flaps are pressed together by a heated pressing device and temporarily heated to the setting temperature of the adhesive , e.g. B. by passing the box 101 under a heated press 15 (Fig. 4). The machine can then have further pressing devices which maintain the contact pressure on the closing flaps 11, 13, 10, 6 of the box 101 lying on top of one another and now glued to one another for a certain time.
In the same way and with a similar device, the filling and closing machine for the cardboard boxes can also close the lower end of the box by gluing the closure flaps 12, 14, 9, 7, generally before the box is filled.
It is of course possible to only finally close the cardboard box 101, that is to say just close the upper end of the box according to the method according to the invention with the aid of its hot-setting adhesive, e.g. B. in the filling and closing machine of the boxes.
The closing flaps of the other end of the box and / or the side parts 2, -8 of the cardboard blank 1 can also be made using other, conventional, i.e. H. liquid or cold-binding adhesives can be connected to one another in other ways, for example by means of seams, staples or the like.
It is possible to use Ida's method according to the invention not only for producing and / or closing cardboard boxes, but also for labeling the same. For this purpose, the cardboard blank 1 can be used not only on its parts to be connected to one another, but also on at least one outer surface, e.g. 3 or 5, in the area of the label to be applied, a covering of heat-bonding adhesive that is solid and non-adhesive at room temperature, in particular hot-melt adhesive or the like.
point. The Nas-Etiett is then pressed against this adhesive coating after or with simultaneous heating of the same. It is of course possible to provide the label with a heat-binding adhesive layer as well, or only.
The application of the adhesive to the corresponding, precisely defined and limited areas of the cardboard blank 1 is preferably carried out according to any printing process and by means of any printing press operating according to the selected process. A solution or emulsion or liquid dispersion of the adhesive is used instead of the printing ink. It is also possible to apply the adhesive in powder or paste form.
To apply the adhesive 16 to the cardboard blank 1, for. 5 and 6, a letterpress process can be used, e.g. H. a method in which the parts of the printing forme 17 that are to be imprinted are raised. However, a planographic printing process is also possible in which the printing parts of the printing forme 18 lie in the same plane or surface as the non-printing parts (FIGS. 7 and 8). Either a direct planographic printing process (stone printing or the like3 or an offset printing process) can be used.
The gravure printing process has proven to be particularly advantageous in which the printing parts of the printing forme 19 are recessed and in which the excess adhesive 16 is wiped off the printing forme 19 by a doctor blade 20 (FIGS. 9, 10 and 11).
Finally, screen printing processes have also shown good results; H. Process in which the printing is carried out using a printing form that consists of a stencil made of an adhesive-permeable material. In FIGS. 12 to 14, such a through-printing process is illustrated, in which a stencil 21 made of silk or similar material is treated in such a way that it is receptive or permeable to the adhesive only at the desired locations.
This silk template 21 is soaked or coated with the adhesive 16, and this is then transferred to the cardboard blank 1 by means of a press roller 22 or the like. In this case, the adhesive can also be very viscous and even paste-like or powder-like.
Another print through process is illustrated in FIGS. 16 and 17. In this case, the liquid adhesive 16 is sprayed onto the cardboard blank 1 with the aid of a spray nozzle 24 or the like through a template 23 or the like.
Both flat printing presses and rotary machines can be used to apply the adhesive to the P, app-cut 1. The rotary machines are preferable because they allow higher working speeds. 15 shows a rotary machine in which (the adhesive 16 is removed from the container 25 by the rollers 27, 28, 29 and transferred to the drum 26. The drum 26 in turn transfers the adhesive to the cardboard blank 1, whereby it cooperates with the counter roller 30.
The application of the adhesive to the cardboard blank can take place at any point in time before or after the single or multi-colored printing of the outer, visible bottles of the blank 1, in particular the sections 2 to 5 thereof. Preferably, however, the adhesive is applied in the course of printing the cardboard blank 1, for example in the same operation. When using rotary printing machines with several printing cylinders, z. B. Apply glue to the last cylinder instead of paint.
The applied adhesive can form a continuous film on the relevant surface.
However, the adhesive is preferably applied in the form of a fine grid.
