Zinc alloy and its use The common zinc alloys with content of A1 up to 10%, Cu up to 1%, Mg up to 0.05 0/0,
The remainder of the fine zinc meets the requirements placed on them and can also be used well as injection and die-cast alloys. However, a problem with these alloys that has been known for years is their strong tendency to scratch, which increases considerably as the temperature rises and which is extremely disruptive during processing in mass production.
Furthermore, Zn alloys are known which consist of 20-75% A1 and can also contain Cu, as well as contents of traces up to 10% <RTI

Zinc alloys no different. Behavior given.
In the oxidation of Be, Be oxide is formed with a significant increase in volume. One cc of Be gives 1.7 cc of Be oxide. When the Be oxidizes on the surface of a liquid alloy containing Be, a very dense,
Be-Oxyd skin, which inhibits further oxidation. Comparative investigations with the known zinc alloys contain, surprisingly, do not show the effect that would be expected of Be, namely the cessation of the oxidation and the formation of an oxide skin that prevents scratching.
The present invention relates to a zinc alloy containing 0.1 to 10% aluminum, 0.05 to 1% copper and 0.001 to 0,
1% beryllium and / or zirconium and / or hafnium, characterized in that it contains the total content of the impurity elements lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, cadmium, silicon, arsenic, antimon, Tin, boron, phosphorus, carbon, iron,
Cobalt and nickel does not exceed 0.005%. The alloys according to the invention preferably contain 4-7% Al, 0.1-0.5% Cu, 0.002-0.004 Be, the remainder fine zinc, with the above.
Accompanying substances may practically not be present. The Be can be completely or partially replaced by Zr and '/ or Hf :.
As a result of the scratching which can be avoided according to the invention, alloys can be produced which have higher mechanical properties and also have improved resistance to all types of corrosion. A further advantage is that the metal losses are significantly lower when the alloys according to the invention are melted.
In particular, however, as detailed tests have shown, the alloys according to the invention can be used particularly favorably as injection and die-casting alloys. Because of the Be content, the alloys are not only particularly thin and consequently ge an acceleration of the production, but also allow the production of casts with reduced microporosity and fewer non-metallic inclusions, eg. B.
Oxides or the like, in the casting. The consequence of the reduced microporosity, especially on the surface of the castings, brings with it an improved corrosion resistance of metallic coatings produced by electroplating. This is of particular importance because up to now, die-cast or injection-molded parts could only be galvanically metallized with difficulty. H. only a low adhesive strength of the metal coatings could be achieved.
The invention can be carried out, for example, by using not only a particularly pure fine zinc to produce the alloys, but rather. A high-purity Al is also used as an alloy metal and, finally, electrolytic copper is also used.
However, depending on the level of the Al content, it is also possible to use lower Al grades as alloy components. You can, for example, alloy a primary aluminum of 99.5 with an Al content of 1%,
whereas a purer Al should be considered for higher Al contents. For example, with an Al content of 10%, an Al with a purity of at least 99,
9% A1 can be used as alloy metal.
Exemplary embodiment In a die-casting company, 100 kg per machine of a fine zinc alloy with 4% Al, 1% Cu and 0.05% Mg are processed into die-cast parts each weighing 10 grams in 8 hours. The total dross attack is 4 kg.
The same alloy, however, Mg-free and melted from components of high purity, with an Al content of 4%, but with a Be content of 0.004%, resulted in a dross accumulation of 0.4 kg with 10.0 kg of starting material.
Here, an Al was used as an alloy component, which had a purity of 99.8% Al. The alloy was spectrally pure with regard to the above. not permitted admixtures.
