Description

  Bande transporteuse

  Conveyor belt
It is known that the conveyor belts of conventional design, such as, for example, those whose reinforcement is made of textile and whose coverings are made of an elastomer such as rubber, do not withstand temperatures much higher than 1000 C.

Beyond that, coatings and reinforcements deteriorate very quickly.

The present invention aims to achieve a conveyor belt capable of withstanding temperatures of the order of 200 to 3000 C without undergoing significant degradation and without these excellent characteristics affecting in particular its strength and its flexibility, both longitudinal and transverse. , are altered. Such a belt can find its use wherever hot materials have to be transported. Mention may be made, as an example, of cement factories and ore agglomeration facilities.

The conveyor belt according to the present invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one sheet consisting of a fabric comprising glass fibers associated with asbestos.

An embodiment of the object of the invention will be described by way of example, with reference to the single figure which schematically represents a longitudinal section of the fabric used in the strip.

The fabric used weighs 4.8 kg / m2 and has a thickness of 8 mm.

The strings of strength 1 as well as the wefts of strength 2 are made of glass fibers.

The frame elements 3, considerably larger than the elements 2, are made of asbestos.

The binding yarns 4, arranged in the direction of the warp, are made of glass fibers.

This fabric was impregnated with a fluid silicone varnish so that, after evaporation of the solvents from the ver nis, 2 kg of silicone resin are deposited per m2 of fabric. This resin has the property of adhering to organic materials, in this case asbestos and fiberglass, the sizing of which has not been removed.

As the asbestos elements retain a large amount of varnish, the impregnation rate is relatively high.

The assembly has excellent characteristics both in terms of mechanical qualities and that of resistance to high temperatures.

It goes without saying that other impregnation mixtures having equivalent advantages could be used. Thus, it is possible to use mixtures based on elastomers which are resistant to high temperatures, such as fluoroelastomers, silicone elastomers or butyl rubber.

The strip thus obtained has characteristics of mechanical strength, of longitudinal and transverse flexibility and of stapling equivalent to those of conventional strips.

A fabric where asbestos is combined with glass fibers can also be used to form a conveyor belt screen.

In this case, it is advantageous to impregnate only the upper face of the fabric, the other face being intended to adhere to a layer of mixture based on elastomer.

Such a fabric can also be used to constitute a carcass comprising several superimposed plies.
