Fig. 1 einen Grundriss der Vorrichtung,
Fig. 2 einen Vertikalschnitt gemäss Linie II-II in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 ein Schema der Wirkungsweise der Vorrichtung.
Device for uninterrupted processing of foundry sand
The present invention relates to a device for the uninterrupted processing of foundry sand using a rotatable drum closed on one side, the axis of which is inclined and the drum length of which is smaller than the drum diameter.
It is known that the foundry sand in the immediate vicinity of the casting is heated to a very high level in the case of cast molds. As the distance from the casting increases, the temperature of the foundry sand falls.
In the distant sand layers, in which the temperature of the foundry sand reaches or falls below the condensation temperature of the water vapor, an over-wet sand layer is formed.
When unpacking a mold, therefore, in addition to hot sand, which is completely dry, there is also sand at a relatively low temperature that is heavily over-moistened. The heavily over-moistened part of the foundry sand tends to form lumps of various sizes when it is mixed by pouring it over with the dried-out sand, which has a water-repellent effect. However, since the foundry sand is as lump-free as possible, with uniform moisture and temperature, it is of particular importance for further processing, a wide variety of means were used to achieve this desirable leveling out. Attempts to accomplish this task with a paddle mixer were unsuccessful.
The use of vibrating chutes, which guide the sand onto a transverse conveyor belt, also did not give satisfactory results. Mixing drums which are open on both sides and whose length is greater than their diameter, in which the sand is fed in on one side and leaves the drum at the other end, show insufficient mixing action.
A device for mixing granular material is also known, which consists of a rotating, open-topped mixing bowl, which can be tilted with its axis of rotation and lin which a rotating mixing tool is arranged eccentrically to the axis of the mixing bowl. This device achieves the purpose provided by the present invention only with the aid of a mixing tool. However, mixing tools are subject to great wear.
Depending on whether heavy or lighter casts are being made, the unpacked foundry sand is either very hot or less hot. If the foundry sand is to be cooled in a subsequent device, prior moistening cannot be avoided. When moistening larger amounts of foundry sand, the difficulty of forming lumps of different sizes is even more pronounced than when comparing unpacked foundry sand. This is where the poor wettability, which results from the water-repellent properties of dry sands, has a particular effect.
Furthermore, in the foundry it is inevitable that molds that have not been poured have to be unpacked. The resulting foundry sand is not hot, but cold and not dry, but damp. This sudden change in the properties of the foundry sand was attempted to be mitigated by installing silos.
All the disadvantages described can be remedied by the present invention, a rotatable drum closed on one side being used, the axis of which is inclined to the horizontal and the drum length of which is smaller than the drum diameter. The invention differs from known designs in that the drum axis has an inclination of 5 to 300 to the horizontal; further drive means are provided which give the drum a speed at which the filled bulk material falls partially in free fall through the drum.
In the drawings, an embodiment of a device according to the present invention is shown. Show it:
1 shows a floor plan of the device,
Fig. 2 is a vertical section along line II-II in Fig. 1,
3 shows a diagram of the mode of operation of the device.
An inclined drum 1 (FIGS. 1 and 2) with a base 2 and a shaft 3 is rotatably mounted in the bearings 4. By means of a motor 5, the drum 1 can be set in rotation via a gear 6 and a chain drive 7. On the open side of the drum 1 there is a drum rim 8, the height of which determines the amount of sand filling 9. A conveyor belt 10 is used for the continuous supply of the foundry sand and a conveyor belt 11 for the continuous removal of the foundry sand exiting over the drum rim 8. A pipe 12, which has a nozzle 13 at the end, is used to supply water or also simultaneously clayey binders and coal dust or other substances, for example in the form of slurry. 14 with an adjusting device is referred to, with which the inclination of the drum axis can be changed in a known manner.
A heating device 15, with which the rear side of the drum 1 can be heated, is designed as a radiation body. With the handwheel 16, the gear 6 can be changed continuously in order to set the correct speed of the drum 1 can.
3 shows the operation of the device according to the invention. The speed of the drum 1 and the inclination of the drum axis are partly dependent on the type and composition of the foundry sand to be processed. With the correct speed and inclination of the inclined drum, which is closed on one side, the circulating foundry sand is divided into three.
A part 17 of the poured foundry sand slides back like an avalanche after the angle of repose is exceeded. Another part 18 of the foundry sand takes the path along the drum base 2 back to the starting position and meets with the sliding part 17 in the lowest part 20 of the drum shell 1. A third part 19 of the foundry sand, which moves with the drum shell 1 in its vicinity , is carried beyond the angle of repose and arrives as sandy rain, d. H. in free fall into parts 17 and 18 of the foundry sand. This process causes an extremely intensive and rapid mixing of the amount of sand in the drum. The foundry sand prepared in this way is continuously discharged onto the conveyor belt 11 during the rotary movement via the drum edge 8 lying below (not shown in FIG. 3).
In the example according to the present FIGS. 1 to 3, water is introduced into the sand through the pipeline 12 by means of a nozzle 13. This admixture can also take place automatically depending on the state of the outgoing sand.
It is expedient to design the drum base 2 to be conical in the direction of the shaft 3. This arrangement results in an intensive mixture of the sand part 17 with the sand part 18 (FIG. 3), the poured-in foundry sand. To prevent the foundry sand from sticking to the inside of the drum, e.g. B. to prevent the drum bottom, it is useful to arrange a heating device for heating the drum.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, only the drum base can be heated by thermal radiation. Parts of the drum that are not heated can expediently be provided with thermal insulation 20 according to FIG.
In order to increase the mixing effect, it is advisable that the angle a (see Fig. 1), which a cell line of the conical drum base 2 includes with a plane perpendicular to the drum axis 3, is selected to be greater than the angle of inclination p to the drum axis 3 a horizontal plane.
With the device according to the present invention, it is possible not only to store the water that is required for subsequent cooling of the foundry sand, but also the entire amount of water that the foundry sand needs for all processing operations, the clayey binder, coal dust or other substances the same facility in which the temperature and humidity of the foundry sand is balanced. As a result, the kneading mixture, which is expensive in itself, can be carried out in a shorter mixing time in sand preparation. The device has the further advantage that sudden changes in the properties of the sand, for example due to molds that have not been poured, are strongly attenuated and can therefore be regulated more precisely and automatically.
