Handle for shovels, spades or similar devices
The invention relates to the handle of shovels, spades or similar devices. The handles at the upper end of the handle of such devices are approximately T-shaped or D-shaped. This T-shaped or D-shaped handle is usually made of wood.
In the case of the D-shaped or approximately D-shaped handles, the handle and the handle consist of one piece or they are made in such a way that the upper handle end is split and with a cross piece inserted in between, which forms the actual handle, is provided. In the case of the T-shaped handles, the handle piece that forms the crossbar of the T is either placed on the upper end of the handle or also consists of one piece with the handle. The D-shaped or approximately D-shaped handles, which are formed with the wood of the handle, are relatively expensive and complex to manufacture.
In addition, if the handle breaks, the handle is lost and a new handle with a handle must be procured and attached accordingly. The T-shaped handles are relatively unwieldy, since the vertical bar of the T, which is formed by the upper end of the handle, cannot be reduced in diameter for reasons of strength, which means when handling that the cross bar of the T embracing fingers are strongly spread at this point.
In some cases, attempts have already been made to manufacture the HanS handles from metal; that's the way it is. in particular known, instead of the approximately D-shaped handle, in which the curved side parts consist of the split wood of the upper end of the handle, to strike corresponding curved metal pieces at the upper end of the handle, between which a piece of wood is then attached as a cross piece, forms the actual handle part. Such handles, which are entirely or partially made of metal, have not proven themselves in practice; apart from that, they are expensive and complex to manufacture.
The invention aims to provide a remedy here in a simple manner. According to the invention, the handle is designed as a separate one-piece part that is detachably attached to the upper end of the handle and is injection-molded from plastic, the transverse part of which is encompassed by the hand is provided with grooves on the inside of the handle to accommodate the fingers and on the surface is completely or partially roughened.
The handle is preferably placed or shrunk onto the upper end of the handle with a sleeve-shaped extension and fastened to the handle by means of screws, bolts or the like inserted through openings in the extension. In this case, projecting noses or cams are expediently provided in the interior of the sleeve-shaped extension, which engage in corresponding grooves on the handle end as a rotation lock. Instead of this fastening option, however, the sleeve-shaped extension can also have internal threads and the handle can be screwed onto the upper end of the handle, which has a corresponding mating thread.
The inventive design of the handle as a separate, molded, one-piece plastic part detachably attached to the end of the handle has the. Advantage because # the handle can also be used again if the handle breaks. The handle is not only cheaper to manufacture than the previously known handles, but also enables the handles to be manufactured more simply and cheaply due to its reusability. The finger grooves provided and the roughening of the actual grip part on the surface result in a good grip during handling, which avoids the disadvantages inherent in the plastic (formation of moisture and slipping of the hand).
There is also the fact that the handles according to the invention can be made thin-walled and more elegant and since the vertical bar of the T can be kept relatively narrow in the case of the T-shaped handle, so that the spreading of the fingers on these stalls, previously perceived as uncomfortable, does not occur occurs more.
Several embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawing; show it :
1 and 2 two views of a T-shaped handle according to the invention, partly in section,
3 and 4 show two views of a D-shaped handle, also partially in section and
5 shows a somewhat modified embodiment for the formation of the sleeve-shaped extension on the handle.
The T-shaped (Fig. 1 and 2) or D-shaped (Fig. 3 and 4) designed handle according to the invention He is ausgebildeb as a separate, one-piece and molded plastic part. The handle can be attached to the upper end of the handle. The actual handle part 1, which is formed in the T-shaped handle by the horizontal bar of the T and in the D-shaped handle by the vertical bar of the D, is roughened on its surface, as shown in the drawing by the punctuation . On its inside, the actual handle 1 is provided with grooves 2 for receiving the fingers.
In the drawing, these grooves 2 are shown greatly enlarged and distorted for better clarity.
In the case of the T-shaped handle according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the part 3, which adjoins the actual handle 1 and forms the vertical bar, of the T is greatly reduced in its thickness in the area of the fingers, so that it is suitable for the handle 1 encompassing finger is no longer bothersome. The part 3 is then followed by a sleeve-shaped extension 4 with which the handle can be placed or shrunk onto the upper end of the handle. Openings 5 are provided in the sleeve-shaped extension 4 so that the handle can be fastened to the handle by means of screws, bolts or the like inserted through the openings 5 in the extension 4.
In addition to this, protruding cams or lugs 6 can be arranged in the interior of the sleeve-shaped attachment 4, which engage in corresponding grooves on the handle end and form an anti-twist device, whereby the openings 5 are relieved.
The design of the D-shaped handle according to FIGS. 3 and 4 differs from the above-described design of the T-shaped handle essentially only in that the actual handle 1 has relatively thin-walled, curved arches 3 # is connected to the sleeve-shaped extension 4 and forms one piece with this.
In a slightly modified embodiment, the sleeve-shaped extension 4 for fastening the handle to the upper end of the handle can be provided with an internal thread 7 in both handles, as shown in FIG. It goes without saying that in this case the upper end of the handle is also provided with a corresponding thread. In this case, too, openings 5 can be provided in the sleeve-shaped extension 4 in order to additionally achieve attachment to the handle by means of screws, bolts or the like.
