Celle-ci est formée d'un disque 30 présentant le long de son bord inférieur une couronne de poils 18, par exemple en bronze au béril- lium. La position verticale de la brosse 3 par rapport au plan supérieur du plateau 2 peut être modi- fiée en faisant coulisser verticalement le montant 5 dans le manchon 4 par actionnement d'un dispositif approprié non représenté ; le contrepoids 12 est destiné à faciliter ce mouvement de coulissement;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Machine for satin-finishing watch dials There are already known machines for satin-finishing dials comprising, for example, a plate on which are placed the dials which are subjected to brushing.
This brushing is carried out, as the case may be, by n back and forth movement of the brush, parallel to the surface of the dial, or by a rotary movement.
The present invention relates to a machine for satin-finishing clockwork dials, comprising a rotary plate on which the dials are arranged and a rotating annular brush extending parallel to the plate and the middle zone of which passes through its axis of rotation. This machine is characterized by the fact that this plate and this brush are driven in the same rotary direction in a speed ratio of 1 to 2, so that the paths of the bristles of said zone, relative to the plate, are straight lines converging towards the center of the board.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine with a dial being machined.
Fig. 1 is a plan view.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view, in partial section.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of a machined dial. In the drawing, the machine comprises a frame 1, partially shown, on which a plate 2 and a brush 3 are rotatably mounted.
On the frame 1 is fixed a sleeve 4 of quadrangular section enveloping a vertical upright 5, to which is fixed, on the one hand, at its upper end, a horizontal arm 6 and, on the other hand, two legs 7 supporting a vertical axis 8, having three horizontal pulleys 9, 10 and 11. The arm 6, which extends on either side of the upright 5, has at its right end a weight 12 and at its left end two orthogonal slides 13 and 14.
These slides can be moved relative to each other by acting on chickens 13a and 14a. In the slide 14 is pivoted a vertical axis 15 on which is wedged, on the one hand, a pulley 16, connected to the pulley 9 by a belt 17 and, on the other hand, the brush 3.
This is formed by a disc 30 having along its lower edge a crown of bristles 18, for example made of berillium bronze. The vertical position of the brush 3 with respect to the upper plane of the plate 2 can be modified by sliding the upright 5 vertically in the sleeve 4 by actuating a suitable device, not shown; the counterweight 12 is intended to facilitate this sliding movement;
it is chosen so as to leave a sufficient contact pressure between the bristles of the brush and the plate 2.
The plate 2 is removably fixed on a vertical shaft 19 mounted to pivot in a sleeve 20 integral with the frame 1. During the rotation of the disc 3, the middle zone of the ring formed by the brush 18 passes through the axis of rotation of the plate 2.
At its lower end, the shaft 19 has a pinion 21 engaged: with a wheel 22 meshing with a second pinion 23 wedged on the axis of a return pulley 24 connected to the pulley 11 by a belt 27. The plate 2 and the disc 3 are driven in the direction f by a motor, not shown on the shaft of which is wedged a pulley 26 driving the pulley 10 of the axis 8 by a belt 28.
The dials to be brushed are placed: on the plate 2, approximately halfway between its center and its periphery, and are held on this plate by the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
feet which they are -munis on their underside and which are engaged in corresponding openings of the plate.
The angular speeds of the brush 3 and of the plate 2 are in a ratio of 2 to 1; the center of the dial is at a distance from the shaft 19 of the rowan plate 2 that, by the combined movement of the plate 2 and of the brush 3, rows of bristles: of the latter trace on the dials carried by the plate a family of lines converging on the center of rotation of the plate 2.
Some of these lines t have been represented on the dial of FIG. 3, it being understood that in reality these lines are much tighter and that it is practically impossible to distinguish them from one another.
In an alternative embodiment, the action of the brush on the dials can be further intensified by charging this brush with an abrasive liquid. This is how the plate 2 and the brush 3 could be immersed in a stocking containing this abrasive liquid: in sufficient quantity to cover the plate.
Once the dials are brushed, they can undergo a surface treatment, and finally be covered with a layer of zapon protecting them and giving them a better aesthetic appearance.
