Example 1 In a solution of 48.9 parts of 1-amino-4- (3-sulfo-4-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid in 1000 parts of water is left in the course of one hour 20.8 parts of 3-chloromethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid chloride flow in, the pH of the mixture being kept at 4.5 by adding 10% strength aqueous sodium carbonate solution.
The mixture is stirred for a further five hours and then the dyestuff formed is precipitated with excess sodium chloride or potassium chloride, filtered off and dried at 45 ° C. under reduced pressure. Dyeing instructions A cotton fabric is padded with an aqueous solution that contains 20 parts of this dye in 1000 parts by volume, it is squeezed to a moisture content of 900 / a and dried.
The fabric is then passed through a second aqueous block bath containing 15 parts of sodium hydroxide and 200 parts of sodium chloride in 1000 parts by volume, it is squeezed off, steamed for five minutes at 100 ° C. and soaped. A blue coloration with excellent wet fastness properties is obtained. Example 2 33.2 parts of 4-chloromethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid chloride are allowed to flow over half an hour to a solution of 48.9 parts of the anthraquinone derivative from Example 1 in 1000 parts of water, while maintaining the pH -Value of the mixture by adding anhydrous sodium acetate to about 5.

Example 3 To a solution of 53.3 parts of the sodium salt of 1-amino-4- (4-sulfo-3-aminophenylamino) -anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid in 1000 parts of water is left at 0 to 5 C for one hour 33.2 parts of 3-chloromethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid chloride to flow while maintaining the pH of the mixture by adding sodium hydrogen carbonate at about 7 to B.
The mixture is stirred for several hours until the pH value no longer changes even without the addition of sodium hydrogen carbonate, and it is worked up as in Example 1. The dye obtained dyes cotton in the presence of basic substances in blue shades with good wet fastness properties.
Dyes with similar properties are obtained if, instead of 3-chloromethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid chloride, 4-chloromethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid chloride, 4-chloromethylbenzene-1-sulfonic acid chloride or 3- or 4-bromomethylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid bromide used. Other similar dyes are obtained in the same way from the anthraquinone derivatives and the acid chlorides in the following table.
