Gerät zur Verhinderung oder wenigstens Milderung des offenen Näselns bei Personen mit Wolfsrachen oder Gaumenspalten
Das vorliegende Gerät zur Verhinderung des offenen Näselns geht von der Tatsache aus, dass heute sogenannte Obturatoren verwendet werden, um das Entweichen des Sprechluftstromes durch den Nasenkanal zu verhindern. Ein solcher Obturator, bestehend aus einem Pflock, der die Lücke zwischen Rachenwand und Gaumensegel möglichst abschliesst und damit den Mundraum vom Nasen-Rachenraum trennt, wird durch eine Spange mit einer Gaumenplatte verbundenen und diese an der obern Zahnreihe befestigt. Damit sind die Zähne einem raschern Zerfall ausgesetzt, und die Verwendung des Obturators wird zufolge schlechterer Fixationsmöglichkeit fraglich.
Device for the prevention or at least alleviation of open nostrils in people with wolf's throats or cleft palates
The present device for preventing open nasal constrictions is based on the fact that so-called obturators are used today to prevent the flow of speech air from escaping through the nasal canal. Such an obturator, consisting of a stake, which closes the gap between the pharynx and the soft palate as much as possible and thus separates the oral cavity from the nasopharynx, is connected to a palatal plate by a brace and attached to the upper row of teeth. The teeth are thus exposed to faster decay, and the use of the obturator is questionable due to the poorer fixation possibilities.

Statt hinten den Mundraum, schliesst nun das Gerät zur Verhinderung des offenen Näseln, wie aus Fig. 1 ersichtlich ist, den Nasenkanal 1 als Propfen 2 ab. Dieser Pfropfen weist wenigstens einen Durch gangskanal 3 auf, der gegen die Mitte zu eine Engstelle 4 aufweist. Diese Enge staut beim Aussprechen der Explosivlaute den durch die Nase entweichenden Luftstrom so weit, dass ihre Bildung möglich ist. Die Enge des Pfropfens hindert die bei der Bildung der Konsonanten P , T , K im Mundraum entstehende Luftstauung am Entweichen durch die Nase und ermöglicht damit die Bildung der Explosivlaute an ihren Artikulationsstellen. Ebenso wird die Aussprache der Reiblaute und der Vokale günstig beeinflusst.
Instead of the oral cavity at the back, the device for preventing open nasal constrictions, as can be seen from FIG. 1, closes the nasal canal 1 as a plug 2. When the explosive sounds are pronounced, this narrowness blocks the air flow escaping through the nose to such an extent that it is possible for them to form. The tightness of the plug prevents the air congestion that occurs in the oral cavity during the formation of the consonants P, T, K from escaping through the nose and thus enables the formation of explosive sounds at their points of articulation. The pronunciation of frictions and vowels is also positively influenced.
