Mechanical Lift Installation The present invention relates to a mechanical lift installation, comprising a set of devices intended to receive passengers and a cable intended to pull said devices.
It is known that these installations are often subject to accidents caused by the derailment of the cable which is most frequently both carrier and tractor. These derailments are most often caused by the passage of the seat fixing device to the cable, on the pulleys carrying the latter to the right of the pylons.
The aim of the invention is to avoid such accidents. The installation according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a carrier rail arranged along the path and intended to carry said devices, by means of at least one corresponding roller, rolling in contact with the rail.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the installation which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view showing in section the rail in which roll two rollers por both the cable and a seat.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding view, in elevation, with a partial section of FIG. 1, to measure the pebbles.
Fig. 3 is a side view showing the whole of the seat and its device for attaching to the cable. The installation shown comprises a profiled rail 1, for example made of sheet steel, which is provided at its upper part with tabs 2 spaced apart from each other and allowing the fixing of this rail either to pylons or to a device. catenary suspension.
As is evident from FIG. 1, the: rail 1 has a substantially rectangular section hollowed out inside which can circulate carriages each carrying a seat 3.
To this end, the lower part of the rail 1 has a longitudinal opening 4 over its entire length to allow the passage of a bar 5 constituting a suspension member of the seat.
This bar 5 is fixed at its upper part to a transverse pivot 6, for example, by welding, this pivot carrying two rollers 7 and 8 rotating freely on said pivot and held in axial position by stop means of any type. known 9 and 10.
Below the rail 1 is a towing cable 11 which is supported by each of the carriages which are placed at regular intervals along the rail 1. The cable supports 11 each consist of a split sleeve 12 fixed to the bar 5 by via a reinforcing plate 13 which is itself welded to said bar.
The cable 11 can slide freely inside the sleeve 12.
As seen in fig. 3, the bar 5 is connected to a clamp 16 tightened on the cable 11 by the intermediary of a coil spring 15, so that the connection between the seat and the traction cable is elastic to limit the maximum displacement of the carriage in relation to the towing cable. The latter is fitted with a stop 16.
Thanks to the arrangement described, the cable 11 only supports the tensile forces of the seats 3 and can therefore have a much smaller diameter than that of known installations in which the cable is at the same time carrying and pulling. For this reason, the pulling cable 11 does not need to be tightly stretched.
The rollers 7 and 8 of each carriage can be in. metal and have an elastic rubber tire, or they can also be made entirely of synthetic material, in order to ensure a noise-free ride.
The size and shape of the rollers 7, 8 are chosen so that there is sufficient clearance to allow the carriages to rotate inside the rail 1 along the axis of the bar 5, assuming, of course, that the connection between the cable 11 and the bar 5 was interrupted to allow this pivoting. The result of this arrangement is a practical impossibility of seeing a carriage jam inside the rail 1.
In addition, since the rail is only open downwards, the introduction of snow into it and the formation of ice on the runways is practically impossible.
As is usual, the installation has at each of its lower and upper ends at least one return pulley for the cable 11. A portion of one of these pulleys has been shown schematically in FIG. 1 and designated by 17, in order to show that the assembly of the cable and the sleeve 12 can engage in the groove d e the pulley without difficulty.
On a part of the length, where the rail is supported by a pulley 17 with vertical axis, the presence of the rail 1 is no longer necessary, so that the rail 1 can very well be interrupted at the upper and lower ends of the installation, which facilitates the introduction or possible removal of one or more trolleys, for example to carry out maintenance operations.
The installation described was of the chairlift type, but it is clear. that the seats 3 can be replaced by any device intended to receive passengers, in particular by cabins with one or more places.
As a variant, the sleeve 12 of each trolley could be replaced by a controlled clamping device, constituted, for example, by two jaws pressing the cable 11 between them. In this way, the installation of the passenger on the seat 3 could be done while the seat is stopped, the carriage then being brought into contact with the cable 11 and clamped on the latter. In this embodiment, the resilient connection device, formed by the spring 15, would obviously be omitted, as well as the stop 16 and the collar 14.
The installation shown has yet other advantages, in particular the particularity of being able to follow the relief of the terrain without inconvenience, so that the seats can remain at a relatively small distance from the ground, which is greatly appreciated by certain passengers.
