Description

Connection of two cylindrical metallic workpieces by gap soldering The invention relates to the connection of two cylindrical metallic workpieces by gap soldering. It is known that in such soldered connections the dimensions of the soldering gap are chosen so that the solder is drawn through the entire length of the solder due to the capillary forces that act. The workpieces are z.

   B. in a tight sliding fit, tight fit, interference fit or interference fit. Now, especially when connecting long pipe sections, when inserting the workpiece with the smaller outer diameter into the workpiece with the larger outer diameter, canting can occur, so that compliance with the constant soldering gap is no longer guaranteed and a secure soldered connection cannot be created.

Particularly in systems in the field of chemical engineering, e.g. B. for gas liquefaction and isotope separation, as well as in reactor systems, however, defective soldered connections can shut down the entire system, which is why the necessary safety factor for good soldered connections is particularly high here.

The invention consists in that the workpiece with the larger outside diameter has an end piece with a slightly larger inside diameter than the rest of this workpiece, which end piece has at least one opening for the introduction of the solder in addition to the soldering gap. This enables the two workpieces to fit into one another without tilting. The invention will then be explained using the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing.

The metallic and cylindrical pipe section 1, which is to be connected to the same pipe section 2 with a smaller outer diameter than that of the pipe section 1 by gap soldering, has an end piece 3 with a slightly larger inner diameter than the rest of this workpiece, whereby a tilt-free introduction of the pipe 2 , which may have a length of several meters, is facilitated. The two work pieces are connected to each other via the soldering length 4, for which purpose. the solder is introduced through the openings 5 into the soldering gap.

An advantageous formation of the soldering surfaces is that at least the soldering surface of one of the two workpieces - in the exemplary embodiment the pipe section 1 - has a number of self-contained grooves 6 transversely to the direction of flow of the solder in planes perpendicular to the cylinder axis.
