Mehrstrahl-Flügelrad-Wassermesser

Multi-jet impeller water meter
The invention relates to a multi-jet impeller water meter with several inlet openings to the measuring wheel and with an impeller cup made of three parts.
Its purpose is to enable a simplification of the water meter housing and to achieve a more advantageous flow of the water passing through the water meter through a special design of the impeller cup consisting of three axially superposed parts.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the shell-like bottom part of the impeller cup has several ring segment-like inlet channels which penetrate it in the axial direction and extend over a total of approximately 240, so that the ring-shaped central part of the impeller cup extends approximately to the end face facing the bottom part 240 extending, ring segment-like groove that covers the inlet channels of the base part and has a circumferential groove on the opposite end face,
which two grooves are connected to the inner space of the middle part that is to receive the impeller through slots directed essentially tangentially to the impeller circumference, and that further from the circumferential second-mentioned groove a vertical one penetrates the middle part in its entire height Channel goes out, which continues in the bottom part in an opening running parallel to the axis of the impeller cup and opens into the outflow pipe of the knife housing, which is on the same axis with the inflow pipe of the knife housing and separated from it by a vertical transverse wall.
By relocating the water inlet channels leading into the interior of the impeller cup and the water outlet openings from two different levels on the cylindrical circumference of the impeller cup in a single level on the underside of the bottom part of the impeller cup, it is possible to precisely control the water inflow and outflow of the knife housing in direct succession to be arranged in the same direction, when they are separated by a partition wall perpendicular to the axis of the inflow and outflow.
This special arrangement also makes it unnecessary to shield the water inlet openings of the impeller cup by a wall in the housing from the kinetic energy of the water flowing into the knife housing. This gives the housing a much simpler design, which makes it easier to manufacture using the sand casting process. The manufacture of the parts of the impeller cup is advantageously made of plastic by pressing or injection molding. It does not cause the slightest difficulty and, without post-processing, results in smooth walls to which the flowing water has little resistance.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the Mehrstrahll impeller water meter according to the invention is shown. It shows :

Fig. 6 shows a section through the upper part (lid part) of the impeller cup along the line VI-VI and
Fig.
7 shows a section along the line IV-IV (without impeller).
The housing 10 of the water meter has, on the one hand, the inlet nozzle 11 and, on the other hand, the outlet nozzle 12 extending in its extension.
The space of the knife housing, in which the liquid flows through the inlet nozzle, and the space from which the liquid flows into the outlet nozzle, are separated from one another by a partition 13 perpendicular to the common axis of the two nozzles 11, 12 . Its free edge stands within a round opening in the housing and lies in a plane with a housing shoulder on which the impeller cup is placed.
Seals 18 and 29 ensure that the water inlet to the water outlet is safely closed. The opening of the housing, which is covered by the inserted impeller cup, is surrounded by a pipe socket of the housing 10, which protrudes beyond the impeller cup fitting tightly into it. The impeller cup consists of three axially loosely superimposed parts, a shell-like base 20, a middle ring 40 and the disc-shaped upper part 60. Each of these parts has an approach on the outer edge that engages in a recess in the following part and an exact coaxial position of all three parts guaranteed.
On the underside of the bottom part 20 there is also provided a groove 23 running in the form of a chord, with which the bottom covers the edge of the partition 13 carrying the seal 18. The cup is pressed against its seat by means of the sealing cap 15 of the transmission mechanism not shown. The tightening is achieved by the screw-on housing cap 14 by means of a seal 17, which sits on the shoulder of the sealing cap 15 and the end face of the pipe socket of the housing 10. The housing cap 14 is provided with the hinged cover 16 which is known.
The known impeller 30 is mounted in the impeller cup, the extended toothed shaft 31 of which extends through the upper part 60 and protrudes into the known mechanism located in the sealing cap 15.
When the water meter is assembled, the water flowing through the inlet nozzle 11 can flow into the impeller cup through three ring segment-shaped channels 22 penetrating the base part 20 within its part above the inlet connection. In the bottom 20, a segment-like cutout 21 is also executed in the part located above the outlet connection 12, which, after correctly placing the bottom part 20 on the middle part 40 of the three-part impeller cup, forms a direct continuation of an axially parallel channel 41 provided in this, the cross-cutting surfaces and shape of the channels 41 and 21 match.
The outflowing water flows unhindered from the channel 41 into the channel 21 and from here further into the outlet opening 12 of the housing.
The uniform distribution of the inflowing water in the three segment-like channels 22 of the bottom part is achieved by means of shaped ribs 24 arranged on the lower surface of the bottom part 20.
These shaped ribs form the dividing wall of the three segment-like channels 22. Depending on the number of shaped ribs selected, several channels 22 could also be formed. A circular flow of the liquid flowing into the cup is achieved through these ribs 24.
The middle part 40 of the impeller cup is provided on the end face facing the bottom part 20 with a coaxial, relatively deep groove 45 representing a segment of approximately 240, of which three pairs of slots (inlet direction channels 46, 47) are distributed around the circumference run out of the inside of the mug. The liquid flowing through these directional channels 46, 47 sets the impeller 30 in rotation. These three pairs of inlet direction channels are arranged essentially in the tangential direction to the circumference of the impeller.
On the end face of the center piece 40 facing the upper part 60 there is a deep, circumferential, circular groove 42 which, with a likewise annular groove 62 of the upper part 60, forms a collecting channel into which the liquid from the space of the impeller 30 enters through three pairs on the circumference by 120 staggered slots (outflow channels 43, 44). The direction of these channels is essentially tangential to the circumference of the impeller 30.
From the annular collecting channel formed by the grooves 42 and 62, the liquid flows through the channel 41, which is parallel to the axis of the impeller cup, and is passed through the channel 21 in the bottom part 20 into the outflow space of the water meter housing.
The profiles of the channels 41 and 21 are identical and the middle part 40 and the base 20 are oriented so that the channels exactly coincide. The vertical channel 41 carried out in the central part is arranged between the two pairs of the inlet direction channels 46, 47 at the ends of the groove 45 and is oriented towards the outflow space of the knife housing.
In order to ensure a correct flow, the lower and the middle part must be correctly oriented to one another in such a way that the channels 22 of the lower part with the channels 45, 46, 47 of the middle part form a correct path for the flowing liquid; in addition, they are centered on one another and axially spaced, the end seat surfaces being sealed. The cross-sections of the three pairs of channels 46, 47 and 41 are adjusted so that there is no throttling of the liquid.
The wall 48 and 49 respectively separating the slots of a pair of slots 46, 47 is designed in such a way that correct loading of the impeller is ensured. However, both duct guide walls must be parallel. The transition of the ends of the annular sector-shaped channel 45 into the channels 46, 47 must be designed in such a way that the most favorable possible flow is achieved when entering the vane chamber.
The course of the flow in the channels 45, 46 and 47 has a significant influence on the measuring properties of the water meter and can be changed by the shape and length of the partition walls 48 and 49, respectively.
Particularly favorable results are achieved when the partition 49 does not extend to the inner circumference of the groove 45 in the slot pair located at the rear in the direction of rotation, as shown in FIG. 7, but the partition 48 of the other two slot pairs partially into the The space of the groove 45 protrudes. This arrangement not only achieves a completely uniform loading of the impeller 30, but also a very symmetrical effect of the forces caused by the flow on the bearings of the impeller.
The upper part 60 (Fig. 6) forms the ceiling of the impeller cup. In addition to the annular recess 62, which forms an annular collecting channel with the annular recess 42 of the central part 40, it has a central opening 61 for the hub 31 of the impeller 30. Finally, the known ribs 63 are arranged in the upper part 60, which act as a braking element with the blades of the impeller 30.
On the underside of the bottom piece 20 in the part containing the water inlet channels 22, which lies above the water inflow chamber, a sieve 27 is attached by means of a centering screw 32, the edge of which largely follows the circumference of the bottom piece and another part on the partition 13 rests in a straight line. At the curved part of the circumference, the screen is bent upwards. Another sieve 28 is attached to that part of the bottom part 20 which is located above the water outflow space of the knife housing. This sieve 28 also follows with a part of the edge the circumference of the bottom part 20 and is here bent upwards after this, while the other part of the sieve edge rests against the partition 13 and runs approximately in a straight line.
In the cup-like sieve designed ge 27 holes are only provided on the flat bottom, so the curved edge is free of holes. By bending up the edge of the sieve, which is not provided with holes, particularly favorable flow conditions are achieved for the water located in the water flow meter housing to be guided smoothly into the three circular segment-like channels 22 of the base part 20.
From the description and the drawing it can be seen that the described water meter also fulfills the requirement of unobstructed flow to a high degree. For higher operating pressures it is possible to achieve the known pressure equalization of the middle part 40 in that one or more small openings (not shown) are drilled through in its side wall, namely in the direction out of the groove 45 into the gap between the whole Impeller cup and the pipe socket surrounding it on the housing 10 of the water meter.
The described water meter is therefore very simple in terms of manufacture and assembly and highly reliable in operation, because the plastic used for its manufacture completely resists any corrosion. Due to the favorable nature of the walls of all pellets, the flow resistances are reduced to the minimum value, and the favorable design of all flow cross sections results in more favorable measuring properties of the water meter.
