Description

Provisional needle retaining sleeve in the outer ring of a needle bearing The invention relates to a provisional needle retaining sleeve, usable either in handling des: needle bearings without an inner ring and not comprising means for retaining the needles in place, or during the manufacture of bearings provided with elements. permanent (inner ring, rings, terminal retainer, crimping, etc.) holding the needles in place, during the operations preceding the installation of these permanent elements.

In the manufacture of needle bearings of this kind, the needles are often placed in the outer race of the bearing by the manufacturer and held in place to using a consistent fat. However, in mass production on a production line where the subject parts # feel shocks when passing from one machine to another or in the storage or transport of rollers. deprived of permanent retaining means, it is necessary to use, for the temporary retention of the needles, low-cost tubular members,

which complete the retaining action by the grease and remedy to the loss of adhesive power of the latter at certain temperatures, these tubular members being able to consist of simple tubes of cardboard, which is removed at the time of final assembly, either in the factory or at rusager.

The extraction of these tubular members, either by by hand or by using extractor tools, should be carried out by the axial sliding of this member along the needle crown, without radial force liable to drive one or more needles out of their housing and without risk of of jamming. It is conceived that if the extraction force has a radial force, increasing the pressure of the cardboard tube on certain needles, they risk & to be entrained during extraction. tube or there is a risk of jamming.

The object of the invention is to provide a provisional retaining sleeve, designed in such a way to practically eliminate this risk.

For this purpose and according to the invention, the provisional retaining sleeve comprises an internal projection of the tines to allowing its attachment and its axial extraction.

Such a provisional socket can be made very economically - from stamped metal, or from molded plastic, or from any molded chipboard, for example, comprising a rib. internal When the needle bearing does not have any internal projection likely to limit the sinking of the provisional retaining sleeve, the latter can advantageously include an external glue intended for come up against the outer ring at the end of the drive.

When the needle bearing has an outer ring in the form of a closed cup, as is the case in certain assemblies and in particular when it comes to to mount the bearing in a joint, it is advantageous to constitute the provisional retaining sleeve itself in the form of a closed bowl, the solid bottom of which cooperates with the sealed bottom of the bowl of the bearing, plays the role of a piston intended, to push-in limit switch, to to force the grease placed at the bottom of the bearing cup towards the crown, hands.

The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, three embodiments of the socket forming the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is an axial section of the first form, placed in a bearing with cylindrical outer ring ; in fig. 2 is a similar section through a cup-shaped bushing fitted into a bearing, the outer ring of which is also in the form of a cup; fig. 3 is a view similar to to FIG. 2, my variant.

Referring to the drawing, 1 denotes the provisional retaining sleeve embedded in the needle ring A lining the inner wall of the outer ring B of the bearing. The bush, 1 comprises at least one interior hooking projection, for the extraction of the bush, this projection being, for example, a circular rib 2. To limit when sinking, the socket 1 may include an outer collar 3 intended to abut, at the end of the sinking stroke, against the outer ring B. This glue has the advantage of increasing the rigidity of the sleeve 1, which can be produced under a very low thickness.

For the same purpose, the sleeve 1 may include an inner flange 4 which could, moreover, replace the rib 2 and itself constitute the aforementioned hooking projection. It will be noted that the collar 3 must not be used for the extraction of the sleeve, because experience shows that one would then fall back into the disadvantages which the invention proposes to have. ?to avoid.

In the example of FIG. 2, the sleeve 1, provided with an internal hooking rib 2, has a bottom 5 and it engages in the crown of needles A, < / B> lining the internal wall with an outer ring C, in the form of a closed bowl at D. In the maximum depression position, shown to in fig. 2, the bottom 5 of the sleeve almost comes into contact with the bottom D of the bearing cup, so that the grease, deposited against the bottom D, is driven back by the sleeve 1 playing the role of distributor piston, in the needle ring A,

the maximum badly sinking of the sleeve being limited by the stop of its bottom 5 on a projection d of the bottom D. It should, in fact, & in general avoid intimate contact with the interposition of a continuous film of grease, because the assembly would form a suction cup which would hamper the extraction operation. The needles can, before fitting the sleeve 1 of fig. 2, be held temporarily at with a little grease, or they can be distributed at using a distributor between the socket 1 < / B> and the ring C, the parts d serving for their mutual centering.

The projection 2 should preferably be towards the bottom of the bowl of FIG. 2 or towards the end opposite to that & insertion of the sleeve (fig. 1), because experience has shown that, in this way, the axial extraction is done with the minimum risk of extracting the needles at the same time or of seeing the de sleeve retained get stuck in the needle ring.

The socket of retained in fig. 2 also has the function of preventing the deposit of foreign bodies at the bottom of the CD bowl. If such foreign bodies enter the cuvette 5, they are extracted at the same time as the retaining sleeve 1. Finally, the bottom < B> 5 gives to the socket 1, even if it is very thin, sufficient rigidity.

In the variant of FIG. 3, the socket 1 com carries to both a bottom 5 and an outer collar 3 < / B> supplementing the protection against dust.
