Valve The present invention relates to a servo-controlled valve which is characterized in that it comprises a tubular main body presenting a seat for a main valve secured to a piston capable of sliding in a cylinder formed in the main body, a by-pass channel controlled by an auxiliary valve allowing the upstream side to be placed in communication with the seat,
of the main valve body with this cylinder to cause a displacement of the piston determining the opening of the main valve, a leakage port making it possible to put the cylinder in communication with the downstream side of the main valve body to cause the delayed closing of the valve. main valve as soon as the auxiliary valve has interrupted said communication.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, two embodiments of the valve according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the first embodiment showing the valve in the closed position.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to the previous one showing the valve in the open position.
Fig. 3 is an axial section of the valve according to the second embodiment shown in the open position.
With reference to fig. 1 and 2, this com valve takes a tubular main body 1 obtained by turning a bar 2 of synthetic material, for example nylon. This bar 2 is sheathed by a metal tube 3, for example made of aluminum or brass. The bar 2 has been turned so as to give it a tubular shape while leaving a narrowed part 4. The edge of this narrowed part 4 is intended to form a seat 5 for a main valve 6 which this valve comprises. This main valve 6 is connected by a tube 7 to a piston 8.
This piston 8 can also be made of synthetic material or of metal provided with a seal. In the example shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the piston 8 is assumed to be made of synthetic material and is attached to the end of the tube 7 by means of a nut 9. The cylinder 10, in which this piston 8 slides, also has a wall in synthetic material.
The right end of the tubular body 1 is closed off by a plug 11 screwed into a thread 12 made in the internal bore of the body 1.
An auxiliary valve 13 is carried by the main valve 6. This auxiliary valve 13 comprises a secondary valve 14 which can be made of synthetic material, cooperating with a seat 15 formed in the main valve -6. This secondary valve 14 is integral with a rod 16 extending into the tube 7 and through the stopper 11 by a bore 17 formed axially in the latter. The outer end of this rod 16 carries a push button 18.
A seal 19 is engaged between the rod 16 and a portion of larger section of the bore 17. A coil spring 20 is threaded on the rod 16 between the push button 18 and a washer 21 bearing on the seal sealing 19. A leakage orifice 22 is drilled radially in the tube 7 which itself constitutes a bypass channel controlled by the secondary valve 13 and placing the upstream side 23 in communication with the seat 5, of the valve. valve body 1 with cylinder 10.
The outlet nozzle of this valve is constituted by an opening 24, formed in the side wall of the main body 1. The operation of this servo-controlled valve according to FIGS. 1 and 2 is made as follows The fluid pipe, that is to say water or gas, whose valve is to control the flow, is connected to the upstream part 23 of the body 1.
In the closed position, shown in fig. 1, the spring 20 maintains the secondary valve 14 on its seat 15 and, likewise, the pressure of the fluid to be retained by hand holds the main valve 6 on its seat 5.
If a push is exerted on the button 18 from the start of its movement, the secondary valve 14 is moved away from its seat 15, which allows a certain flow of fluid to flow through the tube 7 in cylinder 10.
Since the back pressure area of piston 8 is larger than the area exposed to reverse pressure on valve 6, piston 8 and valve 6 will move in the opening direction and remain in this position ( fig. 2) as long as the volume of fluid passing through channel 7 is greater than the flow rate from the permanent leakage orifice 22. Thus, the fluid can flow through the seat 5, the passage 25 and the nozzle output 24.
The leakage opening 22, which continuously puts the cylinder 10 in communication with the downstream side of the valve body 1, allows the piston 8 to return to the rest position, shown in FIG. 1, as soon as the thrust exerted on the button 18 ceases, the spring 20 then pushes the secondary valve 14 on its seat 15. This orifice 22 is calibrated to cause a timed or delayed closing of the main valve 6 as soon as the auxiliary valve 13 is closed by releasing the push button 18.
Indeed, as soon as the auxiliary valve 13 is closed, the fluid flowing through the leakage port 22 allows the piston 8 to return to its initial position in which the valve 6 comes to rest on the seat 5, causing the closing. of the valve.
This time-closed, servo-operated valve is particularly useful as a flush control valve, for example.
The second embodiment, shown in FIG. 3, shows a valve similar to the previous one, but of a construction better suited for large fluid flows. This valve also comprises a tubular main body 1 obtained by turning a bar 2 of synthetic material sheathed by a metal tube 3. The cylinder 10 is formed in the central part of the body 1 coaxially therein. As for the seat 5, it is formed, as in the first embodiment, on the edge of a tightened part 4 of the body 1.
The valve 6 of this valve is connected to the piston 8 by a rod 26 having a threaded end 27. The deformable part of the piston 8 is guided on a ring 28 threaded onto the threaded part of the rod 26. A nut 29 makes the piston 8 and this ring 28 perfectly integral with the rod 26.
The right end of the cylinder 10 is closed by a plug 30 screwed into the cylinder 10. The leak orifice 22 is drilled directly in this plug 30. Axial passages 31 are drilled around the cylinder 10 to allow the passage of the fluid. in the open position of the valve 6. As for the bypass channel, it consists of a bore 32, formed axially on the side of the seat 5 and of the cylinder 10.
The auxiliary valve is constituted by a needle valve 33, fixed radially in the main valve body 1. This auxiliary valve comprises a threaded sleeve 34 screwed into a thread 35 of the body 1. The needle 33 of this auxiliary valve has a thread 36 cooperating with a threaded portion 37 of the sleeve 34. A seal 38, engaged in a groove 39 of the needle 33, seals between the latter and the sleeve 34.
The seal between this sleeve 34 and the body 1 is ensured by the contact of this metal sleeve 34, clamped in the synthetic material, in this case nylon, forming the internal part of the body 1. The rotary drive in one direction or the other of the square 40 presented by the needle 33 causes the closure, respectively the opening of the passage 41 communicating the bypass channel 32 with the cylinder 10.
Rings 42 are screwed into the two ends of the body 1, these rings having a threaded bore 43 making it possible to connect the valve to the pipe, the flow rate of which must be controlled by the latter. The operation of the latter valve is similar to that indicated for the first, that is to say that, as soon as the auxiliary valve is opened by moving the needle 33 away from its seat, a certain flow of fluid passes through the by -pass 32-41 and exerts pressure in cylinder 10.
The section of the cylinder 10 being greater than the surface of the valve 6 on which the pressure of the pipe is exerted, the pressure prevailing in the cylinder 10 pushes the piston 8 back and causes the opening of the valve by detaching the valve 6 from its seat 5. To keep the valve in the open position and since leakage flow continuously escapes through port 22, the auxiliary valve must be kept open to compensate for the leakage flow. The fluid then passes through the seat 5 and the passages 31.
The valve is closed by first closing the auxiliary valve, that is to say by screwing the needle 33 so that it closes the bypass channel 32 41. The fluid pressure s' exerting, on the one hand, on the valve 6 and, on the other hand, on the piston 8, causes a simultaneous displacement of these two parts as the fluid flows through the orifice 22 to bring the complete closure of the valve with a certain time delay when the valve 6 comes to press on the seat 5.
The valve shown in fig. 3 shows that, by exerting a very low force on an auxiliary needle valve 33, it is possible to control the opening, respectively the closing, of a valve controlling a pipe with a section much larger than that of the bypass 32- 41, valve which, in the case of direct control, would require a much greater effort. The construction of the valves described above with reference to the drawing can be done easily with the aid of automatic machines, since all the parts which form these valves can be obtained by turning.
These valves can therefore be manufactured in very large series for a very low cost price. The maintenance work on these valves can be considered as nil, given that the sealing of each of the valves that they include is done by directly pressing a metal part against a part made of synthetic material, such as nylon, whose wear resistance is very high. However, it would also be possible to provide sealing gaskets attached to the valve body to form in particular the seat 5 of the main valve 6, as well as the seat 15 of the secondary valve 14.
These gaskets could be constituted by the materials usually used for this purpose, for example by fiber, rubber or other similar material. Thus, after wear of the seats, they could be replaced by new linings.
As a variant, the valves described above, instead of being obtained by turning, could also be obtained by molding. For example, the internal part of the valves could be molded from a synthetic material such as nylon, this internal part then being forced into a metal sheath.
In another embodiment, the entire valve body could be made of metal, obtained by casting or by machining in the mass.
As a variant of the second embodiment, shown in FIG. 3, the auxiliary needle valve 33 could be replaced with a three-way valve. In this case, the leakage orifice 22 could be deleted, this orifice 2.2 being replaced by an exhaust channel connecting the auxiliary valve to the downstream part of the main valve body. The opening maneuver of the latter valve would be carried out by moving the three-way valve, so as to allow the fluid to pass through the bypass channel 32, 41 on the upstream side of the valve towards the cylinder 10.
Once the degree of opening of the main valve 6 has been obtained, the three-way valve can be brought into the position in which it closes the bypass channel 32-41. No leakage flow leaving the cylinder 10, the valve 6 keeps the open position given to it.
The valve 6 is closed by operating the auxiliary three-way valve, so as to make the cylinder 10 communicate with the downstream side of the valve through the exhaust channel provided for this purpose. The fluid contained in the cylinder 10 flows little by little and, under the effect of the pressure of the pipe exerted on the valve 6, the latter returns to its closed position. The closure of this latter embodiment of the valve is therefore also a timed closure preventing water hammer in the pipe.
