Toujours dans le but d'éviter le coulissement intempestif de la lame 14 l'on pourra également, fig. 6 exécuter dans ladite lame 14 une fente sensi- blement longitudinale 24 permettant à la partie 25 élastique et convenablement armée, de prendre appui contre la goupille 21 du fourreau 1 ou direc tement contre le fourreau 1, freinant ainsi les dépla cements de la lame 14 ;
Device for assembling and locking the ends of a piece or of two elongated pieces Most of the clasps known in jewelry, for example the clasps of bracelets, necklaces, belts or the like, generally have several drawbacks, among which one can note a complex manufacture combined with a delicate handling, and a fragility offering the user only a random security, the setting to length of the bracelets, necklaces, belts or the like being the most difficult to obtain. Such clasps often also have the drawback of being of questionable aesthetics, the actual locking device remaining visible most of the time.
The present invention relates to a device for assembling and locking the ends of a part or of two elongated parts, characterized in that it comprises a flat sheath closed off at one of its ends, and having an internal recess. of rectangular section, this sheath being fixed to one of said ends, a hooking member fixed to the other of said ends to be housed in an opening made in the large face of the sheath and, a movable blade in the recess of the sheath this blade also having an opening to receive the fastening member and its arrangement being such that its full engagement in the sheath locks said fastening member in said opening of the sheath.

Fig. 14 is a sectional view of the sleeve along E E E of FIG. 12.
Fig. 15 is a perspective view of the third embodiment shown before assembly. Fig. 16 is a variant of this third embodiment.
The device shown in FIG. 1, comprises a sheath 1, consisting of a tube of flattened rectangular section which is welded at 2, by a part of its large face 9 bordering one of its fields on a first part formed by the end 3 of a bracelet 4. The ends of this sheath are one 5 (not visible in FIG. 1) closed off, the other 6 remaining open.
An opening formed by a hole 8 passing right through the sleeve 1, substantially in the middle of its large face 9, is provided with a diameter such that it can receive, without exaggerated play, a fastening member formed by a stud 11 of cylindrical shape. the details of which emerge in a more apparent manner in fig. 2, this stud 11 of a height substantially equal to the thickness of the sheath is fixed for example by hard pipe, under a second part constituted by the extremity 7 of the bracelet and comprises retaining members formed by two parallel grooves 12 oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet,
that is to say parallel to the longitudinal axis of the interior void of the sleeve 1. This interior void contains, exactly sliding, a blade 14 constituting the locking part provided with a perforation 16. The perforation 16 is formed of 'a circular part 17, which, brought into a position corresponding to the hole 8 of the sheath 1, first gives passage, with normal play, to the stud 11 and a substantially rectangular part 18, the edges of which, when the the insertion of the blade 14 in the sheath 1 is completed and engages in the corresponding parallel grooves 12 of the stud 11, the stud thus being retained, and the moiré iron locked. A rim 19 provided at the normally visible end of the blade 14 facilitates its gripping and operation.
The useful stroke of the blade 14 in the sheath 1 is limited by means of a substantially rectangular notch 20 made on the edge of the blade 14, a notch in which engages after installation of said blade, a pin 21 driven into holes 22 of the sheath which it passes through, this pin further having the advantage of preventing the total withdrawal and possible loss of the blade.
In a variant intended to avoid the possibility of rotation of one end of the bracelet on the other, around the single stud, it is provided, FIG. 3, to have two hooking members 11 on the end 7 of the bracelet, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sheath 1, the other characteristics remaining identical to those described with regard to FIG. 1, except that the sleeve has two holes 8 and the blade 14 has two perforations 16 corresponding to the two studs 11.
So that the sliding of the blade 14 in the internal void of the sheath 1 cannot be effected too freely, it is possible, for example, to bend said blade, in particular, to bend it transversely, FIG. 4 or longitudinal fig. 5.
Still with the aim of preventing the untimely sliding of the blade 14, it is also possible, FIG. 6 execute in said blade 14 a substantially longitudinal slot 24 allowing the elastic and suitably reinforced part 25 to bear against the pin 21 of the sheath 1 or directly against the sheath 1, thus slowing down the movements of the blade 14 ;
one will also obtain a notching effect of the blade in the closed or open position by leaving the middle of the bottom of the notch 28 similar to that 20 of FIGS. 1 and 3 a bulge 29 bearing elastically on the pin 21, which will only be relieved of this elastic pressure in its positions corresponding to the clearances 30 and 31 provided at both ends of the notch, on either side of the bulge 29 thus ensuring the desired notching.
The second embodiment shown in FIG. 7 is applied, for example, to a belt 36 which may require length adjustments. For this purpose there will be provided, adapting for example to a sheath 1 and a blade 14 identical to those shown in FIG. 3, several rows of two hooking members or studs 11, as shown in FIG. 7.
It is obvious that, if the possible rotation of the two ends to be joined together using the device described does not present any drawbacks, it will be possible to have only one fitting pin 11 per row, this time, to a sheath 1 and the blade 14 identical to those shown in FIG. 1.
The security of the locking device can be further increased by arranging, fig. 8, a bar 32 pivoting in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet around a hinge 33 fixed to the bottom of the sheath 1; the properly folded rim 34 of this bar engages and elastically hooks, at the end of rotation of the latter following 35, on the rim 19 of the blade 14 pressed in the closed position in the sheath 1, thus locking this blade 14 in the sleeve 1; the elasticity of the engagement of the rim 34 of the bar on the rim 19 of the blade 14 is obtained by longitudinal bending of the bar, bending similar to that undergone by the blade 14 according to FIG. 5.
The hooking members 11 comprising grooves 12 mentioned above can be replaced by pins 37, FIG. 9 of easier realization, the grooves 12 being replaced by a circular groove 38 of the same height and depth. If these studs 37 are used, the substantially rectangular part 18 of the perforations 16 of the blade 14 (fig. 1 and 3) will engage in the groove 38 instead of engaging in the grooves 12, all other modes. operating conditions and characteristics otherwise remaining unchanged.
The braking of the blade 14 in the sheath 1, fig. 10 is obtained in that this sheath has, on its field 40 adjacent to the end 3 of the strap welded at 2 to one edge of its large face 9, two rectangular orifices 41 and 42 passing through said field 40. The blade 14 is provided with on its field 44, corresponding internally to the field 40 of the sheath 1, with a finger 45, released from the blade proper by means of a substantially longitudinal slot 46, and provided at its end with a rounded boss 47 provided overflowing the field 44 of the blade.
During assembly, when the blade 14 is introduced into the interior void of the sleeve 1, it is retained there bare and has its stroke defined, as described, for example in FIG. 1 and 2, by the combined action of the pin 21 and the notch 20 of the blade.
The distance between the axes of the orifices 41 and 42 is chosen such that the position of said orifices corresponds to that of the boss 47 of the blade 14 respectively for the closed and open positions of said blade. The boss 47 slows down the movements of the blade 14 between these limit positions by exerting an elastic pressure against the internal face of the field 40 of the sleeve 1 resulting from the boss 47, not being able to protrude from said internal face of the field 40 of the sleeve 1, arms the finger 45, arming made possible by the release of said finger obtained by means of the slot 46.
When, at the end of the travel of the blade 14 in the sheath, the boss 47 is brought into a position corresponding to an orifice 41 or 42, it is introduced into this orifice by disarming the finger 45, thus producing a notching effect. of the blade 14 in the position considered.
It goes without saying that the width of the slot 46 must be such as to allow at least the complete erasure of the boss 47 set back from the field 44 of the blade 14, thus making possible both the assembly and the normal displacement. of said blade in the sheath.
In a first variant, FIG. 11, a rectangular latch 48 cut in the large lower face 50 of the sleeve 1, remains attached by one 51 of its sides in the vicinity of one of the longitudinal fields of the sleeve 1; this pawl is pushed back slightly towards the inside of said sheath and comprises two cavities 52 and 53 formed on the internal face of the pawl, near its edge 54 opposite to the edge 51.
The blade 14 is provided on its large lower face 55, internally corresponding to the face 50 of the sheath 1, with a cylindrical housing 56 of diameter corresponding to the diameter of a small ball 58 which it is intended to receive, the depth of the housing being greater than the radius of the ball and less than its diameter, so that the ball, in place, protrudes slightly from the face 55 of the blade 14, and remains integral with the movements of said blade after installation of the the latter in the scabbard.
The position and the distance between the axes of the cavities 52 and 53 of the latch 48 are chosen such that these cavities correspond respectively to the position of the ball 58 of the blade 14 for closed and open positions of said blade, the cavities 52 and 53 being (,> n furthermore arranged in the immediate vicinity of the lateral edges of the latch 48.
In this variant, the latch 48 and the housing 56 are respectively arranged near the bottom 5 of the sheath 1 and the end 59 of the blade 14.
The pawl 48 brakes the movements of the blade between its open and closed positions by exerting against the ball 58 a pressure resulting from said pawl is armed towards the inside of the sheath, not being able to return to its original position before. assembly due to the presence of the blade 14 and the ball 58.
When, at the end of the stroke of the blade 14 in the sheath 1, the ball 58 is brought into a position corresponding to a cavity 52 or 53, it is introduced into this cavity allowing disarming of the pawl 48, thus producing an effect notching of the blade 14 in the position considered.
During assembly, the ball 58 will be placed, before welding of the bottom 5 of the sheath 1, in the cavity 52 of the pawl 48 maintained suitably armed, then the blade 14 being introduced, said ball will enter its housing 56 of the blade where it will remain in place under the elastic pressure of the latch.
This assembly being carried out, it is obvious that the ball 58 will not be able to penetrate into the sleeve on either side of the pawl 48, that is to say practically on either side of the cavities 52 and 53 arranged on the edges of the pawl, thus limiting the stroke of the blade, with which it is integral in position, in the absence, for example, of the pin 21 and notch device 20 described in FIG. 10 above.
In a second variant shown in FIG. 12, the blade 14 is provided, in the vicinity of its end 59 and on its longitudinal field 44, with a notch 60 in which is disposed a ball 61 of diameter equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the blade. This notch has a depth greater than the radius of the ball and less than the diameter of said ball so as, at the same time, to allow the integral drive in movement of the ball 61 by the blade 14 and to ensure a slight protrusion. of the ball out of the longitudinal field 44 of the blade 14.
On the internal face of the field 40 of the sheath 1 corresponding to the field 44 of the blade is arranged a thin longitudinal slot 62 ending in two perforations 64 and 65, the internal edges of this slot 62 being chamfered and the perforations 64 and 65 executed conical. of large base arranged towards. the inside of the sheath as more precisely apparent in FIG. 13 and 14.
The positioning of the blade 14 and of its ball 61 in the sleeve 1 can only be carried out when the latter is open along one, 66, of its longitudinal edges.
The position of the slot 62 and the distance between axes of the perforations 64 and 65 are chosen such that the position of said perforations corresponds to that of the ball 61 of the blade 14 for the closed and open positions of said blade; in the intermediate positions of the ball 61, the latter undergoes, from the light lips 62 which it arms lightly, an elastic pressure slowing down the movements of the blade 14.
When, at the end of the stroke of the blade 14, the ball 61 is brought into a position corresponding to the perforations 64 or 65, it engages said perforations, disarming the lips of the slot 62 and thus producing a notching effect of the blade 14 in a considered position.
It is obvious that the section of the hooking members 11 could be circular, square, rectangular, etc ... without the operation of the device being modified as a result of the corresponding perforations of the sheath and of the blade, of course being minus managed in appropriate forms.
In the third embodiment of the device shown in FIG. 15, the sheath 1, consisting of a tube of flattened rectangular section, is welded in 2, by a part of its large face 9 adjoining one of its fields, at the end 3 of a bra celet the ends of this sheath are, one 5 (not apparent in fig. 15) closed, the other 6 remaining open. An opening or cutout 68 is made in the large upper face 9 of the sleeve, substantially in the middle of the length of said sleeve and against its longitudinal ridge field 66.
This cutout 68 affecting the shape of a T is intended to provide passage in its wide part 69 to the wide part 74 of a fastening member or stud 70 of parallelepiped shape, fixed for example by welding under the end 7 of the bracelet.
The stud 70 of a height such that it remains slightly less than the sum of the thicknesses of the upper face 9 and of the interior void of the sheath comprises, against the end 7 of the bracelet, retaining members constituted by two parallel grooves 71 of height slightly greater than the thickness of the upper face 9 of the sheath and of axes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet. These slits 71 leave on the stud 70 a foot 72 of width slightly less than the narrow part 73 of the cutout 68.
The blade 14, inside the sheath 1 is provided on its field corresponding to the cutout 68 with a recess 75 having first in 76 a depth and a length at least equal to the width and length of the cutout 68 then in 77 a depth corresponding only to the width of the narrow portion of the cutout 68, the total length of the clearance 75 being at least equal to the width of the cutout 68 plus the normal stroke of the blade.
The blade 14 further comprises a participating notch 20, in conjunction with a pin 21, as described for example in FIG. 1 and 2 to limit the stroke of said blade mounted in the sheath.
To close this embodiment of the device, the wide part of the stud 70 will pass through the part 69 of the cutout 68, then the foot 72 of the stud will be slid into the narrow part 73 of the cutout 68. , so that the edges of said narrow part engage in the grooves 71 of the stud which will be thus retained. The blade will then be pushed back into the sheath so that the bottom 79 corresponding to the part 77 of the clearance 75 comes to prevent the stud from being extracted from the cutout 68, the locking thus being perfect.
The variant shown in FIG. 16 does not differ from that described in fig. 15 that in that the extremity 7 of the bracelet comprises two fastening members or studs 70, intended to be introduced into two corresponding cutouts 68 of the sheath 1, the blade 14 being provided with two successive clearances 75. The operation will remain identical to that described for FIG. 15, the presence of two studs giving the assembly obtained increased strength and avoiding any risk of deterioration that may arise from the rotational forces possibly exerted by the ends of the bracelet relative to each other.
In fig. 15 as in fig. 16 provision is made to ensure the maintenance of the blade in the closed position by means of a pivoting bar 32 identical to that described, for example, in FIG. 8.
