The present invention relates to an electromagnetically controlled three-way valve, certain embodiments of which can be used with gaseous fluids at high temperature.
The valve according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a tubular body inside which is provided a chamber which receives one of the channels and which communicates by two op conduits placed with the other two channels, these conduits ser vant to the guidance of a rod which carries a double shutter valve movable in said chamber and capable of closing the orifice of one or other of these conduits, this rod being moreover connected to the movable core of the 'control electromagnet.
The shut-off valve could consist of a biconical nut. In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the control electromagnet is mounted in a housing which extends along on one side the tubular body of the valve, which body is extended on the other. side by a housing comprising a chamber where the free end of the control rod ends, the latter being connected to a return spring antagonistic to the action of the electromagnet.
The rod carrying the shutter nut could be provided with two guide pistons which slide in the conduits opening into the central chamber, these pistons would thus ensure a tight closure of said conduits.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown an embodiment, given by way of example, of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a diametral section of the valve in one of its positions. Fig. 2 is the section through a diametral plane orthogonal to the previous one, of the valve in the other position. .
In the embodiment described, the electromagnetically controlled valve is intended to operate with gaseous fluids at high temperature. It comprises a tubular body 1 inside which is formed a chamber 2 into which the nozzle 3 of one of the channels opens.
In the axis of the body 1 are drilled two conduits 4 and 5 with which communicate the nozzles 6 and 7 of the other two channels controlled by the valve.
In the chamber 2 is housed a double shutter valve 8 which has two truncated conical bearing surfaces 9, 11 capable of resting on the seats formed by the orifices 12, 13 of the conduits 4, 5.
The double valve 8 is mounted on a rod 14 housed in these conduits and which has, beyond the nozzles 6, 7, two cylindrical bulges 15, 16 capable of sliding in a sealed manner in the bores of the conduits 4, 5. The bulges 15 , 16 thus play the role of pistons.
The tubular body 1 is surmounted by a housing 21 which contains the inductor winding 22 of the control electromagnet and its movable core 23. The housing 21 forms an inner chamber 24, furnished with outer fins 25.
The bulge 15 of the rod 14 is connected to the movable core 23 through a disc 26 of non-heat conducting material. This disc constitutes a movable piston in the chamber 24.
At the other end of the rod 14, the rod 16 of larger diameter carries a disc 31, movable in a chamber 32 formed in a housing 33 attached to the body 1. The disc 31 acts as a support for a spring. return 34 which works in antagonism with the control electromagnet.
The operation of the valve shown is easily understood: when the winding 22 is energized (fig. 1) the core 23 comes to occupy the bottom of its housing pulling the rod 14 in direction f, which compresses the spring 34.
The movement of the core 23 is stopped when the bearing surface 9 of the double valve 8 bears on the seat 12 of the duct 4 which is hermetically sealed.
On the contrary, the gaseous fluid can pass from the nozzle 3 to the nozzle 7, since the bearing surface 11 is clear.
If the power supply to the winding 22 is cut off, the spring 34 expands in direction g (fig. 2) and the bearing surface 11 closes the duct 5. The nozzle 3 can communicate with the nozzle 6.
The mounting of the rod 14 on the swollen parts 15, 16 ensures easy guidance of the valve 8 and very good contact of its bearing surfaces on their respective seats, whatever the operating temperature.
It is also noted that in all cases the bulges 15, 16 prevent the passage of hot gases towards the chambers 24 and 32 respectively.
The bulge 15 therefore provides, together with the disc 26, thermal protection of the control electromagnet and the guiding of the core. In addition, if the gases controlled by the valve are corrosive, the equipment located in chambers 24 and 32 is protected and it is not necessary to treat it specially.
