Fuel injection method for internal combustion engines The invention relates to a fuel injection method for internal combustion engines with a combustion chamber arranged in the piston, provided with a bulge and smoothly aligned with the piston longitudinal axis, whose opening cross section on the piston head is at most approximately the same as its largest cross section perpendicular ztt its axis, and with facilities
to move the air charge entering the cylinder in revolutions around the cylinder longitudinal axis zin.
In Brennkraftnnasehinen of this type it is known to see the fuel charge in at least one initially held together and only immediately above the lower part of the combustion chamber wall dissolving jet in such a proximity to the edge of the opening of the combustion chamber on the piston crown and under such an inclination to the upper surface of the To inject the piston crown in the same direction as the direction of rotation of the air charge in the combustion chamber,
that the combustion chamber wall above the cross section, on the circumference of which :; The radius of curvature of the upper, more strongly outwardly curved part of the combustion chamber wall and the flatter, outwardly curved lower part of the combustion chamber wall overlap, at most by a part of the jacket that is or is wetted by the main fuel jets.
This type of fuel injection has proven to be the most favorable from the standpoint of clean combustion and low fuel consumption, but with this type of injection, especially at low outside temperatures, starting difficulties occurred because the hot, compressed, The air flowing past the cold combustion chamber walls cooled so much that the fuel injected in the manner described above was no longer adequately prepared for safe, rapid ignition.
This deficiency can now be remedied by dividing the fuel charge into a main fuel jet and a secondary jet sprayed to initiate the ignition in part of the air that has not yet cooled down on the cold wall of the combustion chamber.
According to the invention should therefore at least SO v. H. of the total amount of fuel injected by at least one main jet and a maximum of 20%. H.
the total amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber by at least one secondary jet, the initially held together and dissolving above the largest cross section of the combustion chamber main fuel jet in such a proximity to the edge of the opening of the combustion chamber at the piston crown and at such an angle between 55 and 65 are injected into the combustion chamber at an incline towards the upper surface of the piston crown so that its axis coincides at least approximately with the axis of the bulge of the combustion chamber curved towards a cylinder surface,
and the jet, which dissolves immediately after penetrating the air charge in the combustion chamber, from a lateral spray boom of the injection nozzle at a point between the point at which the longitudinal axis of the injection nozzle meets the opening of the Brennra lune on the piston head and the Brennraiunachse located point is injected into the air charge in the Brennraiun.
In the drawing, the process is shown on combustion chambers and the associated injectors built into the cylinder head, indicating the spray directions. It shows Fig.1 a piston combustion chamber in axial section with a two-hole injection nozzle in the cylinder head, Fig. 2 the same combustion chamber in axial section along the line II-II of FIG. 3 in one. Pistons with valve pockets and with a four-hole injection nozzle in the cylinder head and FIG. 3 shows a top view of the piston.
Valve pockets and the mouth-side end of the four-hole injection nozzle.
A combustion chamber is arranged in the piston 1 coaxially to its longitudinal axis, which consists of the main part designed as an ellipsoid. and a flat cylindrical part 13 be available, which latter a surface designed after a cylinder, in the main part 2 he has stretching bulge 14,
whose axis runs near the edge of the opening 6 of the combustion chamber and at least approximately coincides with the longitudinal axis of the injection nozzle 3 arranged in the cylinder head, which is inclined by 55 to 65 to the surface of the piston head, and whose outer surface line 5 is tangential to the wall of the Main part 2 of the combustion chamber approaches. The injection nozzle 3 has an axial and a lateral injection bore. From the axial spray bore, at least 80 v. H.
the total fuel charge more comprehensive, initially held together and only un indirectly above the largest cross-section of the Brennraiunes dissolving main jet 4 opposite. the rotational movement of the air is injected into the combustion chamber, whereas at most 20 percent.
H. the total fuel charge in a secondary jet 7, which dissolves into the finest particles when it hits the air charge in the combustion chamber, opposite to the direction of rotation, the air charge in the combustion chamber between the opening 6 of the combustion chamber at the piston head and the transition 12 of the cylindrical Part 13 located in the main part 2 of the combustion chamber part of the air charge that was last pushed into the combustion chamber and therefore could not yet cool on its cold wall, a is injected.
Since the injected secondary jet 7 dissolves as soon as it hits the air charge and therefore does not penetrate deep into it, a safe ignition occurs, which is immediately transferred to the main fuel jet 4, which is then transferred to the main part of the air charge burns cleanly and completely in the combustion chamber, as the hot combustion gases generated by the combustion of the secondary jet 7 cannot penetrate the main part of the combustion air in the combustion chamber and clean it because of their unit weight.
Instead of injecting the secondary jet 7 opposite to the direction of rotation of the air charge into the part of the air charge located between the orifice 6 of the combustion chamber at the piston crown and the transition 12 between the cylindrical part 13 of the combustion chamber, a part of the air charge can penetrate immediately after the inlet In the air charge in the combustion chamber on the dissolving secondary jet 7 is also injected into the cylindri's core of the air charge, the diameter of which was twice the distance from the mouth of the injection hole,
from which the secondary jet 7 is sprayed, corresponds to the axis of the combustion chamber, and which has also not yet been able to cool down on the cold combustion chamber wall and, due to its lower unit weight than the combustion air surrounding it, cannot enter this part of the air charge due to centrifugal force can penetrate, which is reserved for the combustion of the fuel injected with the main jet 4.
In an alachine in which valve pockets 8, 9 intersecting the opening 6 of the combustion chamber are provided in the piston bottom, the fuel can be injected into the valve pockets 8, 9 in a further secondary jet 10 or 11 in order to utilize the combustion air stored here do.
