Cinematographic camera It is known to use in cinematographic cameras devices making it possible to rewind onto the supply reel a certain length of the film which has already </ B> passed in front of the objective. In devices fitted with debtors, it is generally by reversing the driving mechanism that the desired rewinding is obtained. With regard to simple devices, devoid of debtor, the rewinding is generally obtained by a device acting directly on the supply reel, for example by means of a crank.
On the other hand, it is very important to be able to control, as accurately as possible, the length of the film to be rewound. In devices provided with a debtor, the number of turns of the latter makes it possible, even in the absence of other means, to control the rewinding with sufficient precision. It is evident that in the apparatuses in which the rewinding device acts on the supply reel, the number of turns of the latter does not make it possible to control, with sufficient precision, the length of film to </ B> rewind. This is easy to understand when you consider that each turn of film being rolled on the reel has a different length.
Some manufacturers have proposed the use of a counter device making it possible to control the length of film wound on the supply reel by means of a sensor for variations in the diameter of the film torch. This counter device has the drawback of being very imprecise. The cause of the lack of precision is inherent in the very principle of the device.
The present invention relates to a cinematographic camera of the type in which the driving of the film during the shooting is done only by a claw and a take-up reel, this apparatus comprising means acting on the supply reel and allowing the film to be rewound on it. The apparatus according to the invention differs from known cinematographic photographic cameras by the fact that it comprises an image counter device formed by the film itself, at least in the direction of rewinding of the film. here, by means of a roller in contact with the film.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and to by way of example, two embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a view of the device from the cover side, with parts broken away to allow viewing inside . Fig. 2 is a section along H-H of FIG. 1. Fig. 3 is similar to in fig. 1 and shows another embodiment. Fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 3.
The cinematographic camera shown in the drawing comprises a box 1 divided into two parts by a plate 2. In the part of the box between plate 2 and the cover 3 are arranged the organs for unwinding and winding the film F comprising, generally, a discharge reel 4 rotating on an axis 5, not visible to </ B> fig. 1 but shown to in fig. 4, and a take-up reel 6, driven by means of a friction device and by an axis 7 (fig. 2 ).
Between these two reels, the film F passes in a corridor 8 in which it is dragged in jerky movement by a claw 9. The latter is adjusted so that when the film is stopped, it is always outside the corridor, so outside the 10 perforations of the film. Between the supply reel 4 and the corridor 8, the film F passes over a roller 11.
Between the corridor 8 and the take-up reel 6, the film passes over a roller 12 (fig. 2) carrying a rubber sheath 13. The roller 12 is integral with a rotating shaft 14 in a bearing 15 made integral with the plate 2. A its end which passes through the plate 2, the ar bre 14 carries a ratchet 16 wheel provided to cooperate with a pawl 17, so that the shaft 14 can only rotate in one direction. The roller 12 is provided, on the side of the cover 3, with a toothing to crown 18 intended to engre ner with the teeth of a 19 crown wheel, when the cover 3 is closed, as shown in fig. 1 and 2.
The wheel 19 passes through a bore 20 provided in a plate 21 fixed to the cover 3, and is made integral with an axis 22 pivoted in the </ B > cover 3. The axis 22 carries a toothed wheel 23 engaged with another toothed wheel 24 in rotation on an axis 25 integral with the plate 21. The wheel 24 is also engaged with a third wheel 26 integral with a sleeve 27 capable of turning on an axis 28 </ B > fixed to the plate 21.
A pinion 29 is mounted on the sleeve 27. The latter has a bearing surface 30 against which the said pinion is pressed 29 </ B > under the effect of the pressure exerted by an elastic washer 31 placed between the pinion 29 and the wheel 26. The friction torque < B> due to said pressure is provided so that it is sufficient to allow the dragging of a toothed disc 32 in mesh with the pinion 29. </ B>
The toothed disc 32 is capable of turning on a crown 33 formed on the cover key 3 around a housing 34 provided for the buckle 35 of the button-clasp of the cover. The disc 32 (fig. 1) bears a graduation 36 bare merotée up to 50, constituting an indicator the number of images. A closing plate 37 is fixed to the cover 3 by means of a screw 38.
On the other hand, a crank 39 (fig. 1) makes it possible to drive in reverse, by means of a device of known construction, the supply reel 4.
The image counter device described above operates as follows : When taking pictures, the film F, driven by the claw 9, is unwound from the spool 4 and, after passing over the roller 11, in the corridor 8 and on the roller 12, is wound up on the spool receiver 6.
As can be seen in in fig. 1, the roller 12 cannot be driven in rotation by the film, during normal operation, the wheel with ratchet 16, integral of the shaft 14, being blocked by the pawl 17. The high coefficient of friction between the film and the sheath 13 of the roller 12, makes it possible to obtain a braking torque necessary to prevent the traction exerted on the film by the take-up reel, from being transmitted in the zone of the corridor, which makes it possible to avoid one of the causes of poor fixity of the film when taking views.
When you want to rewind, use the crank 39 which allows the film F to be rewound on the supply reel 4. Before proceeding with the rewinding, you must know how many frames we want to rewind the film. To obtain this number, we generally evaluate the time spent shooting on the part of the film that we want to rewind and we multiply the number of of seconds thus obtained by the number of d 'images to the second used for shooting.
On the other hand, it is preferable, before rewinding, to proceed to the setting to zero of the counting device in order to facilitate reading. Setting to zero of the counter described would correspond to the alignment of the number 50 of the graduation 36 with a mark 40 provided on the closing plate 37. A stud 41, integral with the disc 32 bearing the graduation 36, allows the latter to be moved here manually. When setting to zero, the disc 32, in mesh with the pinion 29, rotates the latter on the socket 27 , the friction torque, due to the pressure exerted by the elastic ron delle 31, being less than the resisting torque offered by the rest of the counter device mechanism.
During rewinding, the drive mechanism of the device is stopped and the claw 9 is in its rest position, therefore released from the lane as shown to < / B> fig. 1. The direction of film winding during rewinding being opposite to the direction of unwinding when shooting, the pawl 17 no longer opposes to the rotation of the wheel to ratchet 16 and consequently the roller 12 can be driven in rotation by the film F. </ I > The high friction coeffi cient between the film and the sheath 13 of the roller 12, on the one hand,
and the traction exerted on the film on either side of the roller respectively by the rewinding device and the receiving reel, on the other hand, allows the creation of a sufficient torque for the starting of the mechanism of the counter device. of images described. Thus the roller 12, engaged with the wheel 19, drives via the wheels 23, 24, 26 and the pinion 29 the disc 32 bearing the graduation 36. The transmission ratios of the elements constituting the mechanism of the counter device are provided such that a revolution of disc 32 corresponds to a length of the movie comprising 50 frames.
As can be seen from the foregoing, the described cinematographic camera enables film rewinding control with great precision, which has a very great advantage over known devices.
The second embodiment of the apparatus, shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, differs from the first by the fact that the actuation of the counter device by the film takes place between the supply reel 4 and the corridor 8. D ' on the other hand, the roller 12 is replaced by a roller 42 not carrying a rubber sheath, but provided with teeth 43 intended to engage in the perforations 10 of the film F, to allow to the latter to drive the roller 42 in rotation. The roller 42 is placed at in place of the roller 11 of the first embodiment and is free to rotate in both directions, the retaining device to ratchet being removed.
In addition, the roller 42 is provided with toothing à crown 18, as was the case for the roller 12, so to allow the training of the mechanism of the counter device, which is identical to that of the first embodiment. A fixed guide 44, rubberized, is provided between the corridor 8 and the take-up reel 6 to create a braking torque of the tines to prevent that the traction exerted on the film by the take-up reel is transmitted in the area of the corridor.
The operation of the counter device according to this second embodiment is as follows : When taking pictures, the film driven by the claw 9 passes over the roller 42 and the 'rotates, the teeth 43 of the roller being engaged in the perforations 10 of the film. The traction of the claw and the pressure of the shutter 8a, on the one hand, the friction torque provided between the supply reel 4 and its axis 5, on the other hand, ensure permanent adhesion of the film on the film. roller 42, allowing the latter to drive the mechanism of the counter device.
In the event of rewinding, the direction of unwinding of the fihn changes and consequently the direction of rotation of the roller 42 and of the counting device. In this case the adhesion of the film on the ga let 42 is ensured by the traction of the rewinding device, on the one hand, and by the friction of the guide 44 against the film and the friction torque of the take-up reel, on the other hand. As can be seen, the counter device according to the second embodiment makes it possible to control the unwinding of the rope both during shooting and during rewinding. This has a great advantage when performing crossfades.
Before starting a fade out, we set the counter to zero, we perform the fade out, then we proceed to rewind with using the crank 39 until the counter, turning in the opposite direction, returns to zero again , then a superimposed fade-in is performed. It is obvious that one could foresee several modifications in the apparatus of which the two embodiments are described above. One could, for example, alternatively, replace the pawl 17 retainer in the first embodiment with any known retainer.
On the other hand, the crown wheel 19 could be replaced by a rubber disc capable of conforming to the shape of the toothing. 18 1 when the cover is closed, thus enabling the counter device to be driven.
As a variant, the toothed roller 42 could be replaced, in the second embodiment, by a rubberized roller provided with a film pressing member. As a variant also, when the pressure of the shutter 8a on the film is greater than than the traction of the take-up reel 6, the roller 12 of the first one could be replaced. embodiment, by a roller identical to the roller 42 of the second embodiment, provided with a film pressing member.
It goes without saying that the transmission ratios of the elements constituting the mechanism of the counter device could be chosen so as to obtain a number of images other than 50 for a revolution of the 32. graduated disc
From the foregoing description, it can be seen that the image counter device described is housed entirely in the cover of the apparatus. This fact shows the great advantage of allowing the use of said device in any apparatus provided with means for rewinding the film. It indeed suffices to replace the ordinary cover of the apparatus by a cover comprising the counter device described and adding one of the described rollers 12 or 42 to the film unwinding mechanism of the transformed apparatus.
