Method and device for drying laundry and the like. \ There is a drying device for laundry and similar goods known, which consists of a ge closed housing in which a provided on its periphery with openings for the passage of hot air, horizontally mounted drum for receiving of the goods to be dried circulates. The drum is. Provided with longitudinal ribs inside to take along and to circulate the goods. In this known device, the material to be dried is blown or blown through by a dry stream of hot air which enters the drum shell at the bottom and exits the drum shell at the top.
The distance covered by the hot air flow corresponds roughly to the diameter of the drying drum. This path is relatively short in order to make efficient use of the hot air flow.
Furthermore, a drying device is known in which the hot air flow from below through a nozzle, which is angeord net on the housing surrounding the drum, is let into the drying drum, changing its direction of flow in the sense of the direction of rotation of the drum, and by a second connection, also arranged on the housing surrounding the drum, which is located at a distance in front of the inlet connection for the hot air - viewed in the direction of rotation of the drum - is discharged again from the bottom of the drying drum.
With this type of construction, too, the path that the hot air flow covers in the drying drum is only enlarged to a limited extent compared to the first-mentioned device and the material does not flow through sufficiently.
Furthermore, a drying device for laundry is known, in which the hot air flow occurs at one end face of a drying drum with a non-perforated order peripheral wall, this flows through in the horizontal direction and is released through the other end wall of the drum into the open. In this device, too, the path of the hot air flow is relatively short. Also is. the air speed is relatively low because of the large drum diameter, and the path by which the hot air flow is to be used corresponds only to the length of the drying drum.
The invention now relates to a method and a device for drying laundry and the like, for example bed springs, using a drying drum rotating in a housing, the jacket of which is provided with openings through which a stream of hot air is introduced into the drying drum .
In the method according to the invention, the hot air stream is introduced into the drum from the drum circumference in such a way that it inevitably runs through the path of a spiral within the drum, and it is carried away from the drum in the axial direction. The hot air stream is preferably fed into the drum in a tangential direction.
In a particular embodiment of the method according to the invention, the hot air flow is discharged through an end wall of the drum. In another embodiment, the hot air stream is discharged through both end walls of the drum, that is to say passed on from the drum in divided form. If desired, can. the divided hot air flow outside the drum can be combined again and released through a common outlet.
The invention also includes a device for performing the method according to the invention, in which the drum shell and at least one drum end wall are provided with air passage openings in their central area and means for introducing hot air from the drum circumference into the drum and to lead from the hot air in the axial direction from the drum are provided.
The hot air flow thus covers a relatively large distance within the drying drum and can thereby with the material to be dried. come into intimate contact because it can act on the goods to be dried in very different directions within the drying drum.
By training according to the inven tion, it can be achieved that the hot air flow within the drying drum covers a significantly longer path than in the known devices described above. By lengthening the flow path in this way, a high degree of moisture can be removed from the goods to be dried in a particularly short time; In the known drying devices, on the other hand, part of the hot air flow remains useless because of the shortness of its effective flow.
With an increase in efficiency, the operating costs are reduced and the drying time shortened, which results in a protective ring for the laundry, since the duration of the friction ring of the laundry on the drum circumference and the laundry items among themselves, i.e. the mechanical stress on the laundry, is limited to a minimum becomes.
In the drawing, a device according to the invention for performing the method according to the invention is shown schematically as an exemplary embodiment.
Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation of the device, while Fig. shows a side panel of the Vorriehtum: @ according to FIG. 1 in section.
The drying device has a ge closed housing 3, in which a material to be dried, for. B. laundry., Receiving drum 4 is rotatably mounted. For this purpose, a pin 6 is rigidly attached to the end wall 5 of the drum 4, which is rotatable in a on the housing wall 7 rigid BEFE continuous bearing 8. On the pin 6 is. a drive pulley 9 rigidly attached. The end wall 5 is richly provided with openings 10 in its middle Be, while rend it is air-impermeable from these openings to the drum circumference.
The other end wall 11 of the drum 4 is. provided in its central area with a durchbro chenen part 12, which is delimited by an A guide nozzle 13 for the material to be dried. The insertion stub 13 extends as far as close to the end wall 14 of the housing 3. This end wall has 1-1. a breakthrough which is adapted to the cross section of the connecting piece 13 and which can be closed by a door 15. The peripheral surface of the nozzle 13 is with. See thru throws. Below the drum .1 a driven by a motor 16 fan 17 is arranged on.
The fan 17 has a suction effect on the inside of the drum. The housing 3 consists essentially of a drum 4 with. a small distance surrounding the cylindrical jacket 3a. Which is provided with a connecting piece 18 on its lower part. The mouthpiece of the nozzle 18 is. directed essentially tangentially to the drum. In the air inlet end of the connecting piece 18, a heating body 19 is arranged.
The operation of the device is as follows. After opening the door 15, the items to be dried, for example wet laundry, are introduced into the drying drum 4 through the connecting piece 13 arranged on the end wall 11 of the drying drum 4, whereupon the door 7 5 is closed again. The drying drum is then acting on the disc 9, not. Drawn drive means offset in rotation. The fan 17 is driven by the motor 16. The fan 17 has a suction effect on the inside of the drum. It goes without saying that a flow of compressed air can also be used. Find application.
Air is blown by the fan 17 through the heating element 19 and the connecting piece 18 into the drying drum at a correspondingly high speed. The mouthpiece of the nozzle 18 is inclined to the vertical and adjoins the jacket 3a of the housing 3 in a substantially tangential direction,
so that the sucked air flow inside the drum 4 is given a spiral course. The items to be dried, for example laundry, are carried along by the drum 4 through longitudinal ribs 20 known from Nieh when the drum 4 is rotated, so that the items are lifted and fall down again under their own weight. This process continues while the drum is rotating.
During this process, the hot air flow in the drying drum 4 initially follows approximately. a way according to the indicated in Fig. 2 Spi rale 21 and penetrates. doing the laundry. This spiral air flow is deflected in both directions against the drum end walls 5 and 11 and then occurs on the one hand through the openings 10 of the drum end wall 5 and on the other hand through the openings 12 in the drum end wall 17. and the openings in a guide socket 13 through into the through Housing wall 7 and the drum front wall 5 or
the housing wall 14 and the drum end wall 11 formed channels 22 and 23 in order to be discharged into the open air via the fan 17 into a pipe common to the channels 22, 23 and the outlet connection 24 connected to this.
