L'appareil selon l'invention est caractérisé par un or--ane d'accouplement commun relié (le telle manièreà l'un desdits organes rotatifs qu'une rotation relative entre l'organe d'ac- eouplement et l'organe rotatif en des sens opposés provoque le déplacement de l'organe d'accouplement commun respectivement dans des sens axiaux opposés;
par deux mécanismes d'accouplement comprenant chacun Lin pre mier élément d'accouplement solidaire de l'or- ,galle d'accouplement commun et un second élément d'accouplement solidaire de l'organe rotatif mené, les mécanismes d'accouplement étant engagés sélectivement par le mouvement de l'organe commun dans des sens axiaux opposés par rapportà l'organe rotatif de mise en marche;
par un dispositifà friction ten dantà rendre l'organe d'accouplement com mun solidaire en rotation de l'organe rotatif mené, de manière que ledit organe d'accouple ment commun se déplace axialement le long de l'organe rotatif de, mise en marche, lorsque celui-ci commenceà tourner, dans un sens qui dépend du sens de rotation de ce dernier organe, pour engager sélectivement celui des deux mécanismes d'accouplement qui doit être actif;

L'or gane d'arrêt 44 a.
Two-way starting device. The present invention relates to a starting apparatus with two directions of rotation for a driving unit, comprising a driven rotary member connected to the driving unit and a reversible rotary driving member. start-up.
The invention aims to provide an apparatus of the above type, that is to say comprising means for imparting a rotation to the motor member in n ' any direction to will for starting a motor unit in any direction. The apparatus according to the invention. is intended in particular for a turbine whose rotor must be rotated by an external motive source before the turbine actually operates.
An object of the invention is to provide a starting apparatus of the above type which is simple, robust, of efficient operation, and meeting general practical requirements.
The apparatus according to the invention is characterized by a gold - common coupling ring connected (in such a way to one of said rotary members that a relative rotation between the member ac - Coupling and the rotating member in opposite directions causes the movement of the common coupling member respectively in opposite axial directions;

and by a stop mechanism having two active positions in which it restricts the axial movement of the common coupling member in opposite axial directions, respectively, to prevent the engagement of the non-operating coupling mechanism when the member The common coupling mechanism moves axially to disengage the active coupling mechanism, the latter automatically disengaging when the driven member rotates faster than the rotating starting member when the power unit starts up. The stop mechanism may have a third, neutral position in which it restricts the axial movement of the common coupling member in both directions to prevent engagement of the pairs of coupling members. is lying.
The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, one embodiment of the apparatus forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of this device.
Fig. 2 is a section through line II-II of in fig. 1.
The apparatus shown is intended for starting a reversible turbine rotor and consists of a motor shaft 1 arranged so to can be driven in one direction or in the other by a starting motor (not shown). This shaft is connected by a worm 2 and. a helical wheel 3 or other reduction gear, to a hollow shaft 4 supported in bearings 5 and 6 mounted in a fixed enclosure 7. One end of the hollow shaft has a flange 8 on the circumferential part of which a cylindrical housing is bolted 9 </ B> extending to from the flange away from the shaft 4.
Another hollow shaft 11 is mounted in bearings 10 inside the shaft 4, this shaft 11 (designated by the following by rotary starting member) having one end which passes through the casing 9 and carries a hub 12 forming the driven member of a clutch with friction discs the driving member of which is constituted by the casing 9. The discs lô and 1.4 of this friction clutch are connected by splines or equivalent mechanical means respectively to the hub 12 and to the housing 9, and compression springs 15 are arranged between the clutch disc le, plus on the outside and a ring stopper 16 fixed in the outer end of the housing 9.
The end of the rotating member Il remote from the friction clutch has a fast-pitch screw thread or several helical splines 17 located between a stop ring 18 fixed by a nut 19 at the adjacent end of the shaft and the end 20 d 'a stop sleeve 21 which rests at its other end against one of the bearings 10. A collar 22 (hereinafter referred to as a wedge coupling member) man), shorter in length than that of the splined part of the shaft 11, has a fast-pitch screw thread or helical splines which are in taken with the splines 17 of the shaft 11,
so that the rotation of the common coupling member 22 in one direction or the other causes an axial displacement of the latter along the shaft, within limits determined respectively by the ring stop 18 and by the end 20 of the sleeve 21. The member 22 has, on each of its end faces, a series of coupling teeth 23, 24 (each series of teeth being designated as the first coupling element), the teeth of each series being in the form of ratchet teeth, formed in such a way that each series of teeth can transmit torque in only one direction of rotation, opposite to that of the other series.
A tubular member 0_5 surrounded by the splined end 17 of the rotary starting member 11 and the common coupling member 22, this member 25 < / B> having an inner diameter which is slightly larger than the outer diameter of collar 22, and carrying end plates 26, 27 whose inner faces are provided with coupling teeth- # pe with ratchets, constituting ment 28 and 29 of the ty the second coupling elements, and arranged in a to </ B> engage respectively with the-,
first elements 23 and 24 on both ends of member 22.
The tubular member 25, which is connected to a turbine rotor shaft 51 constituting the rotary driven member, has two pairs of parallel flanges 30, diametrically opposed and arranged close to its middle part 31, and two openings 32 diametrically opposed and each made in part 31 between the flanges of the same pair (see fig. 2). A rocker arm 34 is pivoted between the flanges of each pair on a bolt 33 passing through these flanges, one end of each rocker arm having the. form of a 35 friction shoe passing through one of the openings 32 made in the tubular member, so as to come into contact with the organ 22 and exert a frictional force thereon.
The other end of each rocker arm is biased by a compression spring 36 mounted inside a housing and leaning against the part 31 of the tubular member, 25, spring tending to keep the shoe 35 continuously in contact with the coupling member 22. The end of each rocker arm forming a shoe has a mass such that, for a given speed of rotation of the tubular member 25, the rocker arm is moved by centrifugal force , against the action of its spring 36, of f so that the shoe is no longer in contact with the component 22.
It will be noted that if the rotary starting member 11 is rotated in one direction or the other by the starting motor or its equivalent, through the intermediary of the 'clutch with friction 9 and 12, while the driven member 51 is stationary axially, the friction force imposed on </ B> the member 22 by the shoes 35 causes a relative rotation between the member 22 and the grooved part 17 of the rotary member 11,
such that the coupling member 22 is moved axially thereon to bring one of the first coupling members 23 or 24 into engagement with the second coupling member 28 or 29 of the tubular member, depending on the direction of rotation.
The arrangement is such that the common Form 22 stroke in one direction or the other on the splined part 17 of the rotary member 11 is respectively limited by the stop ring 18 and the end 20 of the sleeve 21, so that, when one or the other of the pairs of the coupling elements is engaged, the member 22 cannot exert axial force on the driven member 51 nor does it tend to get caught on the splined part 17.
Means are provided for limiting the stroke of the common coupling member 22 to from its central or neutral position in which the two pairs of coupling elements 23, 28 and 24, 29 are clear. These means comprise a tubular actuating rod 37 extending in the rotary member 11 in which it can slide and emerging from the end of this adjacent shaft to the to friction clutch 9, 12.
This sail lante end is provided with spaced collars 38 engaged with rollers 39 carried by an actuator 40 with mounted fork. on an oscillating shaft 41 provided with an operating lever 42 by means of which the rod 37 can be moved axially. A stopper 44 extends inside the inside of the splined part 17 of the rotary shaft 11 in a direction inclined by ratio to the axis of this shaft at an angle of about 500 and protrudes, to through two openings 43 made in the 'tree It and in which said member can slide.
These openings 43, which are axially offset relative to each other, have a common longitudinal axis, inclined relative to to the axis of the shaft 11 and crossing this axis, and are located in Parbreen points respectively adjacent to the ends of the splined part 17. The stopper 44 a.
dimensions such that, when in a central or neutral position, its two ends 45 and 46 protrude through through both ends of the grooved part 17 of the 'organ, 11 and extend the course of the common coupling member 22, so as to prevent this member from axially moving in each direction to from its neutral position, while by sliding the stopper 44 in one direction or the other, either end 45 or 46 can be withdrawn from way to allow the movement of the member 22 on the rotary member It in one direction or the other from from this position.
The ends 45, 46 of the stopper 44 preferably have stepped flats 47 extending in planes parallel to the ends of the common member 22 and forming suitable surfaces to come into contact with the ends of the stopper. this, organ. The actuating rod 37 has, at its end carrying the stop member 44, two longitudinal slits 48, diametrically opposed, in which the gold can slide. stop button 44.
This rod also has a pair of longitudinal slits 49 extending in a plane inclined relative to to the axis of the rod and in which the ends of a pin are engaged 50 transversely crossing the stopper 44, so that, during a longitudinal movement of the rod 37, the edges of the nits 49 act as ramps or cams on the dowel 50 for displace- the stop member 44 in relation to to the rotary organ 11. </ B >
An operating mechanism (not shown) is fitted to cause the rotation, in one direction or the other, of the motor shaft 1 by means of the starting motor. This actuation mechanism is connected to the oscillating control shaft 41 by means of which the actuating rod 37 is moved, such that the stop member 44 moves into the position for which it allows axial displacement of the common coupling member 22 from its neutral position in one direction or the other and the engagement of the pair of coupling members corresponding to the direction of rotation of the shaft 1.
In operation, during one-way starting, the appropriate pair of the series of coupling teeth 23, 28 or 24, 29 is therefore engaged until that the driven organ 51 begins to turn faster than the rotary member 11; in fact, for a certain speed of rotation of this member, the shoes of the rocker arms 34 are released from the common coupling member, which, by the action of the coupling teeth, returns to its neutral position, a movement beyond this position being prevented by stopper 44.
The operating lever 42 is then moved to its normal rest position, which stops the starting motor and automatically returns the stop member 44 to its central position to prevent the engagement of the pairs of the series. of coupling teeth.
The Friction 9, 12 clutch ensures that the torque which can be transmitted by the starting device is limited by the slip of this clutch and that any damage can be , prevented if the device is operated accidentally so much when the turbine is already turning . The clutch can be designed to transmit a torque a little lower than the maximum torque capable of being applied by the starter motor, so that it will slip further when this maximum torque is applied.
Although in the apparatus described there there are three front, neutral and rear control positions for the actuating rod 37, the stop member 44 and therefore three positions for the common coupling member 22, it will be understood that in some cases the neutral position may be eliminated. In such a case, when the driven organ 51 begins to rotate faster than the starting organ 11, the organ 22 moves axially to disengage a pair of mating members, engagement of the other pair of members being prevented by the corresponding end of stopper 44.
