Description
-Hydraulic speed regulator for prime movers. The present invention relates to a hydraulic speed regulator for prime movers such as jet propellers, Cxasturbinen and the like, which one. having hydraulic servo apparatus which changes the fuel supply from the pump to the prime mover as a function of their speed changes.
The aim of the invention is to keep the speed at which the regulator is actuated constant over a large range of changes in the flow rate of the fuel to the drive machine.
The invention is characterized by liquid-controlled means for actuating a valve via which the servo apparatus is regulated, these means being in connection with a bypass line, which extends from the fuel supply line to the fuel outlet line, through a throttle element for controlling the liquid flow through the bypass line, a device acting as a buffer, which responds to the liquid pressure in said line for actuating the throttle element, as well as means,
in order to generate a counter pressure dependent on the speed of the prime mover in the line mentioned. .
The speed regulator can also have a shut-off valve in order to temporarily close the bypass line while the engine is being started. The accompanying drawing shows schematically an example embodiment of the invention. Referring to the drawing, the fuel feed pump, which is formed by two individual pumps, is of the known construction type in which the pump delivery increases proportionally to the speed. It has a rotor a with a plurality of drill bits, each of which has a spring-loaded plunger piston b, the rotor being arranged in a housing c.
The piston belonging to a pump is actuated by a swash plate d, which is supported by balls in a stationary ring d ', the inclined position of the swash plate d determining the extent of the respective movement of the piston when the rotor a rotates. The inclination of this swash plate is adjusted by means of a liquid-controlled servo apparatus which has a piston e connected to the swash plate by a rod f. The piston is displaceable in a cylindrical chamber g and is loaded on one side by a spring.
The two cylinder ends are connected by a channel i, in which a narrowed opening j is present, while the end of the chamber g remote from the spring is connected to the fuel outlet line k of the pump. The end of the chamber g containing the spring h is connected to a channel m leading to the seat n of a valve o; This valve o is carried by a lever p and loaded by a spring q.
The parts rz, o, p, q are located in a chamber r, which is connected to the pump inlet channel 2, and which from an adjacent chamber s through a Diaphragm t (or by an equivalent piston) is separated, which in turn is tensioned by a spring u and is arranged in s. The movement is transmitted from the diaphragm to the lever p by a spindle w . The arrangement is such that when the valve o is closed, the liquid pressures acting on opposite sides of the piston e are the same and the spring h moves the piston e to the left, with the swash plate being adjusted so that the pump delivery is increased.
If the valve o is open, the liquid can escape to the right of the piston e, so that the piston is moved by the liquid pressure to the left of the piston in such a direction that the pump delivery is reduced. A piston could be present in place of the membrane t.
The chamber s communicates with the pump housing c through the channel x, while the rotor a has inclined channels y which are connected via a channel y ′ and a channel y ″ to the channel 2 forming the fuel inlet line whereby the rotor also forms a centrifugal pump.
The end of the rotor which is adjacent to the inlet and outlet lines 2 and k is a. provided in a known manner with a pair of arcuate openings, one of which communicates with some bores containing pistons b, while the other communicates with the other piston bores containing the remaining pistons.
These two openings serve alternately to supply liquid from the inlet line 2 to the piston bores and to discharge the liquid from the piston bores concerned to the outlet line k. The liquid coming from the pump inlet opening 2 is accordingly sucked in by the reciprocating piston b when the rotor a rotates and is pressed into the outlet channel k.
Furthermore, the liquid in the outlet channel k has access to the housing c through the lines 8, 7 and 6 and the channel x and is therefore under a. on the rotational speed of the rotor dependent pressure is pressed into the housing c, wherein the rotor is driven by any suitable part of the prime mover via the shaft v, to which machine the pumped liquid fuel is fed from the line k.
In connection with the arrangement described above, a cylindrical chamber 3 is provided, which has a v eischiebbaren Dros selorgan 4 which cooperates with an opening 5, the part of the chamber 3 located below this opening through a line 6 with the above-mentioned channel. x is connected. To the chamber 3 is above the opening 5, the line 7 is closed, which the chamber 3 via the Lei device 8 with. the servo cylinder q connects to the pressure channel. k is connected to the pump. The lines 7, 8 are connected to each other through a shut-off valve 14 to 19, the operation of which will be described later.
The throttle member 4 is located at the end of a rod 9 which extends from the piston 10 of a buffer device; this piston is displaceable in the chamber 3 and also has an opening 11. The piston is fastened to a tension spring 12, which in turn can be adjusted by a screw 13.
The lines 8, 7 and 6, the channel x, the chamber c and the channels y, y 'in the pump rotor a form a bypass line, which the pump pressure channel k with the pump inlet channel \? connects.
The flow rate through this bypass connection from line k to line \? and which in any case is negligible compared to the delivery rate of the pump., is regulated partly by the throttle element 4 and partly by the counter-pressure which is generated by the centrifugal force acting on the liquid in the channels y .
It follows from this that the pressure in the chamber s is the sum of two variable pressures, one of which is related to the pressure in the pump pressure line 7c and is determined by the throttle element 5, the other by the rotor speed of the pump rotor a is determined.
Assuming that the apparatus system is in a steady state and at a desired speed. works, the valve o will be open, and the flow through the opening 5 from the line 7 into the line 6 is limited by the throttle element 4 to an extent that depends on the liquid pressures then acting on the membrane t and on the piston 10 . A change in the pressure acting on the membrane t, which can come about either through a pressure change in the liquid in the pressure line or through a change in the aforementioned counterpressure, will result in a corresponding change in the valve position.
The resulting movement of the piston e causes a change in the fuel supply through the pressure line k, whereby the pressure in the bypass line and thus the pressure acting on the piston 10 also changes, which results in a change in the position of the throttle element 4. The narrowed opening 1.1 in the piston 10 creates a connection between the cavities in the chamber 3 located above and below the violet, so that liquid can flow into these cavities.
If the apparatus is in a stationary state, the pressures which act on the two ends of the piston 10 are equal. However, since the liquid pressure in the upper cavity of the chamber 3 acts against a larger area of the piston than the liquid pressure present in the lower cavity of the chamber 3, the piston 10 moves against the action of the tension spring 12 somewhat downwards and determines the position of the Dros selorgans 4. A decrease in fuel consumption is first indicated by a brief increase in the speed of the rotor a.
This causes an increase in the pressure acting on the upper side of the diaphragm t, the valve o is opened further to allow the piston e to reduce the pump output and thus to reduce the pressure in the bypass line and in the lower cavity of the chamber 3 . If now the pressure of the lower cavity of the chamber 3 led to the liquid as a result of falling fuel falls, the piston 10 is lifted by the spring 12, the Ge speed of this movement is determined by the Puf ferwirkung of the piston 10, d. H. by the speed at which liquid flows from the upper cavity through the opening 11 in the piston into the lower cavity, and the opening of the throttle organ is expanded.
This increases the fluid pressure acting on the membrane t in the space s, the valve o is opened further and causes a reduction in the pump performance by moving the piston e against the action of the spring h, namely by the prevailing fluid pressure at left end of cylinder cg to reduce fuel flow through the conduit. This reduction in pump output takes into account the smaller fuel requirement.
Since the pressure in the lower cavity of the chamber 3 decreases when the fuel requirement falls and increases when the fuel requirement increases, if the pressure of the liquid supplied to the lower cavity of the chamber 3 rises as a result of the increasing fuel requirement, piston 10 is lowered against the action of spring 12, the speed of this movement being determined by the buffer effect of the piston, d. H. by the speed at which liquid flows from the lower cavity of the chamber 3 through the opening 11 in the piston into the upper cavity, and the opening of the throttle member is narrowed. As a result, the liquid pressure acting on the membrane t is reduced, the valve o is moved into its closed position and causes an increase in the pump output in accordance with the increased fuel requirement.
Gradually, a new steady state will be established, and the liquid pressure in the chamber s will again be set to the previous value, whereby the apparatus system has again reached its initial operating state.
In order to avoid oil losses from the oil pressure line through the bypass connection when starting the prime mover,. the aforementioned shut-off valve is provided. This has a closing member 14 which cooperates with a seat 15 connected to the line 8. The end member is carried by a membrane 16 (or a piston) through which the hollow body 17 is divided into two compartments. The lower compartment containing the valve seat is in communication with the line 7, while the upper compartment is connected by a conduit 18 to the pump inlet.
The upper compartment also contains a compression spring 19 which presses the closing element onto its seat until the pressure in the pumping pressure duct k has reached a predetermined value. In the normal operating state, the closing element 14 is kept in the open position by the liquid pressure acting on the membrane, but is kept closed when the drive machine is started.
The regulator characteristic required can be obtained in a very simple and reliable manner by means of the regulator shown. In the foregoing it has been described how the servo device is used to actuate the control element to control the power of the pump whose delivery rate increases proportionally to its speed. The servo apparatus can, however, also be used to actuate a throttle element, a bypass valve or other control means switched on between a pump with constant delivery and the drive machine.
It goes without saying that a pump with constant delivery will not be provided with a control element for controlling the pump output, and that the control means mentioned above, such as the throttle element and bypass valve, serve to control a variable part of the medium being conveyed by the pump Drive machine to supply. It is. It is also possible to use any other means instead of the centrifugal tunnel described, to generate a fluid pressure that is dependent on the speed of the prime mover.
