Bullet with a core and a jacket enclosing the same . There are projectiles known wel before to increase their penetrating effect a core made of harder and a shell surrounding the same from at least partially softer material aufwei sen. In a known embodiment, the jacket of such a projectile consists of two parts. One of these parts forms the front part of the projectile and consists of a material such as. B. light metal, which has the property of letting the core through when the projectile hits.
The other part of the jacket consists of a harder material and serves as a guide organ for the projectile while it is moving through the launch tube.
In bullets of the type mentioned, the core usually consists of a hard but brittle material, which has the disadvantage that the core can be relatively easily damaged by breakage, especially when the bullet hits, which results in the intended effect loses a large part. The present invention makes it possible to avoid the disadvantage described and be a projectile with a core consisting of at least one part and the same enclosing shell consisting of at least one part.
The projectile according to the invention is characterized in that the core is provided with at least one hot-wound sleeve.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the attached, the single figure of which shows a projectile consisting of a core and jacket partially in a longitudinal section.
With 1, the core of the projectile is marked, which for example consists of a single part and is made of hard metal ge. The core could also be composed of several parts, at least one of which is made of hard metal. The rear, lower in the drawing part of the core 1 is set in a sleeve 2. The front part 3 has a smaller outer diameter than the rest of the sleeve and is seen with an external thread 4 ver. In the bottom of the sleeve 2, on the side facing outwards, there is a recess 5 which is connected to the interior of the sleeve via a central hole 6.
The sleeve 2 is provided with a guide ring 7 and a circumferential groove 8 on its outer circumference. The latter is used to secure the projectile in a case, not shown, which contains powder or a similar fuel. The front part of the core 1 is iungeben of a hood 9, which is preferably made of light metal and is screwed to the part 3 of the sleeve 2 with the help of an internal thread 10 attached to it. The core is also provided with a warm-wound sleeve 11 which can be made of any suitable material, e.g. B. made of steel. This sleeve 11 takes place in a recess of the hood 9 adapted to its shape.
The two parts 2 and 9 together form a jacket which completely surrounds the core 1 and the sleeve 11. The screw connection of the parts of the jacket ensures that the core rests both on the bottom of the sleeve 2 and on the hood 9 so that the core is immovably clamped in the jacket. In the embodiment shown, the wall thickness of the sleeve 11 decreases evenly from the rear to the front. But it is also possible, please include to form the sleeve 11 over its entire length with a constant wall thickness.
In a not shown embodiment of the projectile, the sleeve 11 and the sleeve 2 consist of a single piece of material Ma, the sleeve 11 forms a continuation of the part 3 of the sleeve. In this case, the entire sleeve 2 with its parts 3 and 11 is warmly drawn onto the core 1.
But it is also possible, in the illustrated embodiment with parts 3 and 11 separated from each other, these two warmly drawn onto the core 1. Part 3 then forms a second warm wound sleeve. Sleeve.
Instead of two parts 9 and 2, the shell of the projectile can also consist of only a single part, which extends to the rear end of the core 1 and there has a pin or the like resting against the core 1.
The operation of the Ge projectile described is as follows: When the fired Gesehoss hits an object after its flight, the hood 9 is more or less retained by this object, while the core 1 successively penetrates the hood 9 and the object . At the. On impact, the core is subjected to external forces which could result in the core being broken up, in particular because it consists entirely or partially of hard and thus brittle material.
Such a shattering is avoided, however, by the warm-up sleeve 11, which holds the core together and strengthens it, in that the compressive forces exerted on the core by the sleeve at least partially compensate for the impact inside the core during the impact.
