Foret.
Forest. The subject of the invention is a drill bit that allows two successive operations to be carried out. It is. characterized by an anterior part constituted by an American drill bit used for drilling, followed by a posterior part having a larger diameter and cut so as to allow the execution, after said drilling, of a second operation.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the drill forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1. is an elevational view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the second form.
-Fi g. 3 shows in axial section a hole obtained by means of the drill of the fi-. 1 ..
Fig. 4 is a similar section of a hole obtained by means of the drill of FIG. 2. Fi-. 4 'is a similar section of a hole obtained by means of a variant of the fi "drill. 2.
The drill shown in fig. 1 presents an anterior part a. constituted by an American bit having two helical grooves with large pitch. This American bit is intended for drilling a hole in the material. This anterior part is followed by a posterior part b of larger diameter and constituting a reamer. The helical knives c of this reamer have a smaller pitch. and the grooves formed between these knives correspond with the grooves of the American bit, in order to allow the evacuation of the chips. The connection part d between the anterior parts a and posterior b is arranged in a plane making a right angle with the longitudinal axis of the drill.
In variants, this connecting part could be inclined at angles of 30, 45 or 60.
The drill shown in fig. 1 makes it possible to carry out, in a single working pass, a hole such as that shown in FIG. 3. In the first part of the operation, the American bit a drills a hole which will then be reamed, in the second part of the operation, by the reamer b.
The second embodiment shown in FIG. 2 also has a front part a constituted by an American wick tiller with two large pitch helical grooves. This bit is intended for drilling a hole in the material. It is followed by a posterior part b of larger diameter also constituted by a drill bit whose grooves are of a pitch smaller than that of the grooves of the drill bit a The grooves of the anterior a and posterior parts b communicate with each other so. to allow the evacuation of chips. The connection part between parts a and b is at, 45.
By means of the drill shown in fig. 2, a hole such as that shown in FIG. 4, formed of two coaxial parts having two dif ferent diameters. By means of a variant of the fis drill. \ ?, in which the connection part d is in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the drill bit, a hole such as that shown in FIG. 4R.
When using the drills shown and. described, it will of course be necessary to reduce the cutting speed during the second operation.
