,, ta% t additional subordinate to main patent N 286041. Notch lock. The present invention relates to a notch lock, in which the lever is in the axis of symmetry of the lock palastre, and comprising, mounted on the bottom of the palastre, a part capable of sliding and cooperating with the spout cane, a cylindrical tube disposed perpendicular to said bottom and carrying two drive members of said part, and locking means of said cane nose actuated by means of a key from inside said cylindrical tube,
the whole being arranged in such a way that the lock can be adapted indifferently to a door opening to the right or to the left, to the inside or to the outside, this by making one or the other of said members cooperate. 'drive with said part.
The lock according to the invention is characterized in that said part has an opening of which two opposite edges are tailed so as to each form a lère rack, and in that the two drive members carried by the cylindrical tube are each consisting of a toothed sector intended to cooperate with one of said racks.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the lock forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, and FIG. 2 is a partially sectional view taken along the line 2-9- of FIG. 1.
The lock shown comprises a palus tre 1 on the bottom 2 of which is mounted a part capable of sliding, 3, of rectangular shape and cooperating with a lever handle 4, as will be described below. The part 3 has an opening 5 extending on each side of the axis of symmetry passing through the cutting line 2-2. Dowels 30 are fixed to the bottom 2 and serve to guide the part 3. Another dowel 30 'serves as a stop for said part 3 to limit its movement to the right of FIG. 1, the movement to the left being limited by the wall of the palastre 1 against which the extensions 31 of the part 3 abut.
A flange 32 is provided between the extensions 31. and serves as a bearing surface for the ends of springs 33 mounted on pillars 16 integral with the bottom 2 of the panel 1, the springs of which the other ends bear against a wall of said panel. The springs 33 resiliently apply the part 3 against the stop pin 30 '.
The cane 4 has a groove 12 in which is engaged a pin 34 integral with the part 3, so as to allow said cane nozzle to slide independently of this part 3. A spring 14 resiliently maintains the cane 4 in the position shown in fig. 1.
The panel 1 is closed by a cover 15 screwed by means of four screws 35 screwed into the pillars 16.
A cylindrical tube 17 perpendicularly crossing the bottom 2 carries two toothed sectors 36 and 36 'parallel, separated by a groove 22 formed in the tube 17 perpendicular to its axis. These sectors 36 and 36 'are intended to cooperate with racks 37 respectively 37' cut in the two opposite edges of the opening 5 of the part 3. Handles 19 are fixed on each end of the cylindrical tube 17 using of pins 20 in the shape of a U. These handles 19 are used to actuate the cane nozzle 4 by means of one of the toothed sectors 36 cooperating with one of the racks 37 to drive the part 3, as will be described below.
The lock described comprises means for locking the cane nozzle actuated using a key (not shown) inserted in an opening made in the axis of the cylindrical tube 17. These means comprise a sector 21 capable of pivoting around the axis of the cylindrical tube 17 and extending through the median groove 22. In FIG. 1, the sector 21 is shown in the non-locking position, pressed against one of the ends of the groove 22. A washer 23, pierced with an opening intended to receive the end of the key, is screwed inside the tube 17 on sector 21 on each side thereof, using screws (not shown).
The key is further guided in said tube 17 by means of two semi-cylindrical parts 25 fixed by pins 20 and 20 '.
The operation of the lock described is as follows. In the example shown, the lock is assumed to be suitable for a door 27 opening to the left. When one of the handles 19 is pressed in the direction of arrow 28, the toothed sec tor 36 ', meshing with the corresponding rack 37', moves part 3 to the left (fig. 1) against the 'action of the springs 33, the cane 4 being driven by the intermediary of the ankle 34 abutting against the bottom of the groove 12. By releasing the handle, the springs 33 return the part 3 to its starting position and, for its part, the spring 14 pushes the cane nozzle 4 back into the position shown in FIG. 1.
The cane 4 can slide independently of the part 3, against the action of the spring 14, for example when closing the door without actuating the handles 19. To lock the cane 4 in its position closing, insert the key into the corresponding opening and actuate Tacon to rotate the sector 21 clockwise until it abuts against the other end of the groove 22, relative to the position of FIG. 1. In this locking position, the sector 21 is located behind the cane nozzle 4 which is thus blocked. The sliding part 3 which is connected to the cane nozzle by the pin 34 is, consequently, also blocked, as are the cylindrical tube 17 and the handles 19.
To adapt the lock described to a door opening on the right, it suffices. to remove the cylindrical tube 17 and to reassemble it so that it is the toothed sector 36 which cooperates with the rack 37.
The lock described has the advantage of being able to be adapted to any type of door, without requiring a change of part. In addition, it is of compact and simple construction, therefore of a low cost price.
The absence of a deadbolt and the dual function performed by the lever which serves at the same time as a lock also represent important advantages of the lock described.
