Device to protect the injection nozzle from overheating on diesel engines. In diesel engines, especially high-speed engines with prechamber ignition, the end face of the injection nozzle that is exposed to the hot combustion gases is overheated during operation to such an extent that the nozzle needle sticks. It is therefore a matter of finding a device that shields the nozzle body from the combustion chamber sufficiently to prevent excessive heat build-up in the nozzle body.
The subject of the invention is a device to protect the injection nozzle from overheating on diesel engines and consists of a pan-shaped heat dissipation organ arranged between the nozzle body and the combustion chamber of the engine, as well as in the same cooperating means to a specific part to be able to press the heat dissipation element against the hole wall of the cylinder head.
Embodiments of the device according to the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows a vertical section through part of the cylinder head and through a front chamber with an injection nozzle.
FIG. 2 shows a detail of FIG. 1 in a first embodiment and on a larger scale, and FIG. 3 shows a detail similar to FIG. 1 in another embodiment. The part of the cylinder head of a die selmotors containing the opening for the injection nozzle is denoted by 1, inserted therein in a known manner an insert 2 forming an antechamber and sealed by means of a sealing disk 3 against the combustion chamber of the engine. is. The upper end of the prechamber 2 is closed by a disk 4 except for a central passage opening for the fuel jet against the injection nozzle, and between this disk 4 and a heat dissipation element 5 is. a heat insulating disc 6 inserted.
The heat dissipating element 5 is formed in the shape of a pan and has a wall which is cylindrical on the outside and a conical wall on the inside, the conical inner surface being adjacent to a flat edge forming an annular surface S '. In the center, the organ 5 also has a passage opening for the fuel jet.
A claw 7 arranged on the upper side of the cylinder head with clamping means (not shown in the drawing) is used to press the antechamber 2 firmly against the washer 3 via a sleeve-shaped clamping element 8. The end of the tendon 8 against which the claw 7 is on is. expediently flat, while the other end has a conical extension which corresponds to the conical inner surface of the heat dissipation element 5 and which merges into a flat annular surface 8 'at the foot of the cone.
The clamping member 8 consists of material of high mechanical strength, while the heat dissipation element 5 is expediently made of a highly thermally conductive, kneadable material.
Copper has proven to be the most advantageous for this. The matching parts of the two organs 8 and 5 are dimensioned so that the two flat surfaces 8 'and 5' lie on top of each other before pressure is applied by the claw 7, so that an annular gap 11 is available between the two conical surfaces (Fig. 2) . If the claw is then screwed tightly, an axial pressure occurs first, which propagates over the flat annular surface 8 'of the clamping member 8 to the annular surface 5' of the heat dissipation element 5 and from there over the two disks 6 and 4 and onto the edge of the antechamber 2 is transmitted.
When the pressure increases, the clamping member 8 then squeezes the edge of the heat dissipation element 5 together until the two conical surfaces lie against one another and the copper edge is then driven radially outward. As a result, an intense side pressure and a perfect contact of the cylindrical outer surface of the heat dissipatorgans 5 against the hole wall of the cylinder head 1 is achieved, whereby an effective heat dissipation to the hole wall of the cylinder head 1 surrounded by the cooling water of the engine is achieved.
A similar effect could also be achieved if the corresponding, conical parts of the clamping member 8 and the heat dissipation element 5 were designed in such a way that when the conical surfaces are in contact with one another without pressure, an annular gap 12 between the two flat annular surfaces 5 'and 8' (Fig. 3) exists. Sufficient side pressure could possibly also be achieved if the conical surfaces were to act simultaneously with the flat annular surfaces. The embodiment according to FIG. 2 has proven to be the most effective.
The bore in the sleeve-shaped clamping member 8 is dimensioned such that the injection nozzle 9 can be easily inserted until its end surface rests on the inner surface of the copper n heat dissipation element 5. With a second claw 10, the injection nozzle can then be pressed firmly against the heat dissipation element until a sufficient seal is achieved, with the protruding part 9 '(Fig. 2) of the nozzle being able to penetrate the material under plastic deformation until the whole End face 9 ″ (FIG. 2) rests firmly against the inner surface of the heat dissipation organ (FIG. 1).
