und zwar sowohl für empfindliche Relais als auch für Starkstromgeräte wie Hoehleistungsschalter, rross;Aeiehriehter. Man hat bisher für ganz spezielle Zwecke beispielsweise schon Relais gebaut, deren durch ein Magnetfeld betätig ter Anker eine Schaltzeit von etwa 10-3 sec aufweist;
Be trachtet man z.
Fig.1 und 2 eine Schaltzeit von ungefähr 10-4 sec.
Device for influencing electrical circuits with a switching element activated by a magnetic field. The present invention relates to a hierarchical for influencing electrical circuits with switching element actuated by a magnetic field, for example for relays of the most varied types, contactors, low-voltage and high-voltage switches, rectifiers and rectifiers,
both for sensitive relays and for high-voltage devices such as high-performance switches, rross; Aeiehriehter. So far, relays have been built for very special purposes, for example, whose armature actuated by a magnetic field has a switching time of about 10-3 seconds;
however, the construction principles that apply to Anwelidillig cannot be applied in general, for example for the construction of high-voltage switches. In the actual switch construction, the switching times achieved so far range from a few milliseconds to a few hundredths of a second. Now it can be shown - and this is one of the characteristic findings on which the present invention is based - that
that even a switching time of one millisecond would not bring any decisive advantages over today's conventional designs. Be looking for z. B. an alternating current of the common frequency of 50 Hz, the instantaneous value of this current is one millisecond, that is 18 electrical, before or after the current zero crossing still around 44% of its effective value or about 31% of its maximum value.
\ Vürde switched at this moment - this would be necessary for that. until the Sehaltwe g is covered by the zero crossing - the contacts would still be subject to very high stress. In addition, in high-voltage, direct-current or alternating-current systems, there are rates of increase in current in the event of faults in the form of overloads and short-circuits in the size of 1 to 10. 106 A / sec not uncommon. This would mean, however, that the current increases by up to 10,000 A in one millisecond, which is usually a multiple of the rated current.
This is of great importance when z. B. by such a device impedances are to be switched on so quickly that the short-circuit current reaches me a small fraction of its other who tes. Extensive tests have also shown that in three-phase systems, in the time from one millisecond before current zero crossing to zero crossing, even two-pole arc short-circuits still transform a considerable percentage into three-pole ones,
while in a time interval of less than <B> 3. </B> 10-4 seconds a transition from two to three-phase short circuit practically no longer occurs. But this is an important prerequisite for the use of a synchronous control in multi-phase systems.
In the case of multiphase rectifiers, experience shows that the commutation time, expressed in electrical "f @" degrees, is around 15o, corresponding to 0.83 msec. This clearly shows that switching times that are significantly less than a millisecond, in particular less than 3.10-4 seconds, allow the current to be switched off when the current has already dropped to a small fraction of the direct current value . In the case of mechanical rectifiers, in particular, switching times will be sought that are still; place under 10-4 sec.
Finally, special relays for synchronous control and devices for suppressing the short-circuit current by switching on impedances as quickly as possible only make sense with switching times of the order of magnitude of 5 to 10-5 seconds and less. In summary, one can see that the switching time of <B> 3. </B> 10-4 sec actually represents a sharp limit, above which the switching devices customary today are, and below which - as shown above - a whole series of new types are located Switching devices that offer great technical and economic advantages can be implemented.
If one examines devices with magnetically actuated switching elements of any kind, one finds, which can also be explained theoretically, that the switching time t can be expressed with practically sufficient accuracy by a quantity 2, which is referred to below as an arrangement quantity, and a second Size D, which is referred to as the dimensioning size. It exists. then the relation t = A. D.
The arrangement size A is largely independent of the dimensions of the switching element, its value is strongly influenced by the mass distribution, the ratio of the magnetic to the electrically conductive mass, by the angle between the resulting magnetic field in the air gap and the longitudinal axis of the switching element . The more skillfully the arrangement is made, the smaller the values the size of the arrangement assumes. The dimensioning quantity D, which is given by the following relationship, is of particular importance for achieving short switching times:
EMI0002.0016
here mean: 1 the mean flux path length in the switching element in cm, x the working air gap in.
Z is a temporally and spatially ge taken mean of the magnetic In-; production in the air gap. It is a prerequisite that the cross-section and pole surface of the switching element differ from each other by no more than - \ 0%, so that the magnetiselie induction in the switching element and in the air gap; are roughly the same size.
The device according to the invention now looks like that, in order to achieve switching times of less than <B> '. </B> 10-4 sec, the dimensioning variable D is less than 1.5.10-5 cm / Gauss, where, as assumed, the cross-section and pole surface of the switching element differ from each other by a maximum of \? 0%. Depending on the given conditions, this can be done by choosing the appropriate length,
Working air gap and magnetic induction ei-follow, whereby it should be noted that the cross-section of the magnetizable part of the switching element is fixed to a certain extent by the level of magnetic induction, i.e. the selected saturation. For even shorter switching times of e.g. B. 10-4 sec and less you will train the switching element so that its dimensioning size D is less than 0.5.10-5 cm / Gauss.
In many applications it proves to be expedient if the mean flow path length in the Sehaltelernent is at most equal to 1 cm. In other versions,. it is advantageous to provide a working air gap of at most 0.01 cm. If you want to prevent the contacts from bouncing, the switching path will doubtlessly be set below the limit value at which bouncing still occurs with the existing body damping of the materials used.
Finally, the average induction B in the switching element or in the working air gap will be given a value of at least 10,000 Gauss. For example, for 1 = 1, x = 0.01, and r = 10,000 Gauss, a dimension of D = 10-5 cm / Gauss.
As already mentioned, in addition to the dimensioning variable <I> D </I>, the arrangement size A also plays a role for the switching time <I> t </I>. In any case, this variable A cannot be changed in such a wide range as the dimensioning variable D. The type of mounting of the switching element is of particular influence.
It turns out that, with otherwise the same dimensions, with purely translatory movement of the holding element, the size of the arrangement becomes the largest, since the entire mass of the switching element must be accelerated in this case. One will therefore provide such a storage of the switching element for short switching times, the rotary movements. of the switching element he gives, in particular rotational movements about the center of gravity or an axis that is immediately adjacent to the axis of gravity.
In the case of extremely small dimensions of the switching element, however, for structural reasons, only a practically translational movement is possible, since the arrangement of a rotation axis may no longer be possible, please include. In some cases, devices that require as few ampere turns as possible to operate the switching element are particularly useful.
This is achieved with advantage with a switching element that rotates approximately around its one end, the air gap at this end hoch least a tenth. of the working air gap. In order to ensure reliable contact at both ends of the switching element, it is also advantageous to choose such a storage that at least two, but generally three degrees of freedom are available for the movement of the switching element. It is also useful to keep the entire moving mass of the Schaltelemen tes as small as possible.
An advantageous arrangement in this respect Lich results when the switching element consists of a magnetizable armature, which is also designed as a current bridge and carries the moving contact pieces near its ends. If it is necessary to improve the electrical conductivity in the direction of passage of the Stro mes still additional highly conductive mass, z. B. made of copper or silver, it will be advantageous to ensure that these are at most a third of the mass required for magnetic reasons. The contacts are expediently made so light that their mass is at most a tenth of the mass required for magnetic reasons.
In the borderline case, the inagnetisable material of the armature can practically table the entire power line transferred, and only thin coatings or plating are to be seen on the contact surfaces, so that the additional masses for power line and contact formation are practically negligible.
In order to achieve the most favorable utilization of the magnetic tensile force, the switching element will be arranged in relation to the fixed magnetic counterpoles so that the angle between the magnetic tensile force and the longitudinal axis of the switching element is greater than 70, there. means the tensile force is as perpendicular as possible to the longitudinal extension of the Schaltelemen tes. When using Schaltelemen th that rotate around their center of gravity and which, in addition to the mass required for magnetic reasons, have the lowest possible additional masses, arrangement sizes A of 12 Gauss can be achieved. reach sec / em ..
If at the same time the dimensioning value has the value of about 0g: .10-5 cm / Gauss, switching times of the order of magnitude of <B> 5 </B> 10-5 seconds can be achieved with such a switching element. As already stated at the outset, the device can also be used for high-voltage devices. For this it is important that the electrical series resistance of the switching element is at most equal to the total contact resistance at the greatest contact pressure of the switching contacts.
According to Holm (Technical Physics of Electrical Contacts), contact resistance is understood to be the narrow resistance plus any external resistance.
In many applications it is necessary for the switching element to return to its original position by a retraction force as soon as the magnetic field disappears. There are versions in which the reset can take place relatively slowly, but in others, for example with rectifiers and inverters, it is important that the reset also takes place as quickly as possible. The device will then be designed in such a way that the restoring force is smaller, but of approximately the same order of magnitude as the magnetic drive force, but at least 20% of the magnetic drive force.
In many cases it is advisable to provide a retraction force of an elastic type, but for short switching times it is advantageous to arrange the arrangement so that the additionally moved elastic mass is at most a fifth of the mass of the switching element required for magnetic reasons. Of course, however, other types of retraction forces, e.g. B. magnetic forces, gravity or centrifugal forces are used.
1 and 2, an example embodiment of a device with a switching element according to the invention is shown, wherein all parts not necessary to explain the invention are omitted. FIG. 1 essentially shows an example of an arrangement and design of the switching element, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the end face of the switching element according to FIG. It means in these two figures:
1 the switching element that rotates around the axis 2, which is designed, for example, as a thin gate sion spring and has such a low flexural strength that the movement of the switching element can be carried out in at least one, but mostly in two directions, in addition to rotation , that means the movement takes place with at least two degrees of freedom; 3 are the movable contact pieces, which are connected to one another via a highly conductive lamella 4.
The remaining lamellae 5 of the switching element 1 be made of a well magnetizable Mate rial, in particular iron, and are used to conduct electricity with; 6 are fixed stops which, if necessary, can also be designed as closed-circuit contacts; 7 are the locking contacts and 8 are the magnetic poles of the, for example, electro-magnetically generated magnetic field. In order to achieve the shortest possible switching times, the additional mass of the movable contacts 3 and the -utleitenden lamella 4 be only a small fraction of the mass of the lamellae 5.
Furthermore, the angle between the magnetic axis of the switching element and the direction of the magnetic field in the working air gap is greater than 4 than 70.
The arrangement size 11, which is independent of the dimensions, is approximately 10 Gauss in this embodiment. seclem. From the relationship for the dimensioning variable D it follows that the product of the mean flow path length 7 in the switching element 1 and the air gap x r possible, # t should be small.
These requirements can be realized with a switching element according to FIGS. 1 and \ '. With a middle flow path length l in the switching element fully 1 cm, a working air gap x of 0.01 s and an average induction l3 of 10,000 Gauss, see with the arrangement according to the. 1 and 2 a switching time of approximately 10-4 seconds.
The mode of operation of the Einriehtunx is as follows: If the field is excited, whereby it must generally be ensured that the time constant of the control circuit is less than the desired switching time, then begins. see the switching element. 1 turn m counterclockwise. Usually one of the two movable union contacts 3 will come into contact with the mating contact 7 first.
As a result of the low flexural strength of the torsion spring, or more generally, because the movable system has at least two degrees of freedom, the second contact comes into contact immediately afterwards. This means that the working air gap x runs completely through on both sides and the circuit is closed. If, on the other hand, an interruption of a circuit is to be caused, the stops 6 are designed as fixed contacts.
As soon as the magnetic field is excited, the interruption process begins. An interruption can also take place through the spring force if the contacts i are supplied with current. The switch-off takes place when the position field disappears.
If the ratios are chosen in such a way that there is an interruption free of loan arcs, the shutdown can be completed long before the entire working air gap x has been passed, i.e. interruption times of less than 10-5 seconds can then be achieved lie.
Devices with switching elements according to the invention can be used in a variety of forms, so in relays of all kinds, seat wires, regulators, switches for low and IIochspanninmg, rectifiers, inverters, chopper and the like.
