Apparatus for gluing, softening, softening or finishing textile threads and yarns. The present invention relates to an apparatus for gluing, softening, softening or finishing textile threads and yarns and especially those of rayon.
It is known that in order to glue or soften the threads, an apparatus is generally used in which the threads pass through an aqueous bath of the: treatment substance such as gelatin, dextrin, starch, tallow or other materials suitable for the desired result, this aqueous bath generally consisting of a very dilute solution containing 4 to 10 d of treatment substance.
Also known is the operation consisting in impregnating bundles or skeins of son in similar baths and then é-oiitter them using hydro-extractors or wringers. In both cases, the threads or skeins of threads must be subjected to vigorous drying by means of dryers or properly heated ovens, which generally requires a large number of hours to carry out this operation to tarnish. 1!: N effect, the yarns absorb a large quantity of water and when it comes in particular to certain hygroscopic fibers such as rayon, they manage to absorb up to twice their weight in water.
The apparatus which is the object of the present invention enables rapid impregnation and almost instantaneous drying to be obtained without it being necessary to provide for artificial or prolonged drying of the threads. The apparatus according to the invention comprises a tank intended to contain a treatment product in a sufficiently fluid state to impregnate an absorbent material, an impregnation member which, when said treatment product is placed in the tank, is partially immersed in said fluid product, this member comprising an absorbent material capable of being uniformly impregnated by absorption of the treatment product,
finally, equipment for passing the threads and yarns in contact with the impregnation member by which a film of the treatment product is deposited on the threads and yarns.
Absorbent material can vary as needed; it is constituted, preferably, by a plane bit or with a rectangular cross section, its length or its contact surface varying depending on whether it is a question of treating a single wire. or a bundle of wires. This wick can be mounted, preferably, in a movable wick holder in order to be able to change the part of the surface of the wick which is in contact with the threads in the event that, for some reason, the bath should dry on. the free surface of the bit, for example when the work ends at the end of the day.
This result can be obtained by means of a support allowing the wick to be completely immersed in the bath when it is not in service or even by means of a rotating support designed to intermittently modify the contact surface.
To process individual threads, the wick may have a circular shape or the shape of a disc rotating about an axis; it preferably has one or more in sizes.
transverse peripherals, the thread not sant in a direction transverse to the disc or parallel to the axis and inside one of these notches. If the outer part of the wick dries out, the disc can be rotated equal to a fraction of a turn, leaving outside - a part of this wick which was submerged, while the dry part plunges into it. liquid and again acquires the necessary porosity qualities.
When we want to glue bundles or layers of yarns, we use a form of execution in which the tray and the wick have a length proportional to the dimensions of the group of yarns that must be passed so that it brushes the edge. top of this wick, and that the threads are completely covered with a thin film of the sticky substance.
It is also possible to use as the impregnation member a cylinder or a prism of absorbent material, this cylinder or this prism being able to rotate as the part or the upper edge of contact with the threads dries. One can also study the construction so that this organ is animated with a continuous or intermittent rotational movement to vary its position according to the needs, so that the part which is in contact with the wires is in the right conditions. required for impregnation.
Since the amount of treatment product applied to the yarn is very small and almost free from moisture, drying is instantaneous at room temperature, and the small amount of moisture absorbed disappears on its own, so that the wire can be sent immediately on a reel, a cylindrical or conical spool, a rod or a receiving beam.
By avoiding the direct immersion of the yarn in the aqueous bath and, moreover, by incorporating the treatment product in a minimal quantity of water which does not succeed in excessively wetting the yarn, the latter naturally evaporates since 'there is no excess water which must then be removed by drying.
When it comes to the treatment of individual yarns, it is possible to practice on the outer edge of the impregnation member, consisting of a felt wick, a small slit or notch, through which the yarn is passed, in order to that it remains completely surrounded by the impregnation felt. The pressure or friction that the wick itself exerts on the gall produces an action of draining and wiping or combing the yarn, which improves its quality by removing some of the floss it may contain and ensuring the junction of the insulated fibers of the thread itself.
The attached schematic drawing represents, by way of examples, some embodiments of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a first embodiment for treating a single yarn.
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of this embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the arrangement of the members of the apparatus. Fig. 4 is a schematic view of an embodiment making it possible to treat a bundle or a sheet of son between a drum and a beam.
Fig. 5 is a view showing an embodiment used to treat a sheet of yarns unwinding from one beam in order to wind up on another beam.
The apparatus shown in fig. 1 to 3 comprises a tank 1 of cylindrical shape but which may have any other suitable shape, arranged horizontally and provided with a tubu lure allowing it to be filled with a concentrated solution of a treatment substance, by example of a sizing substance. At its upper part, the tray 1 has a longitudinal notch 3 which can be covered using a cover 4 of suitable shape which internally carries two tabs 5 intended to support between them a felt disc 6 which can rotate around it. 'an axis 7.
To one of the faces of this felt disc 6 is coupled a toothed wheel 8 with which can mesh a pinion 9 solid with a small axis 10 mounted in the cover 4 and protruding outside to end with a knurled knob 11 by means of which this felt disc can be rotated as required. On its periphery, this felt disc 6 has several radial notches 12.
By arranging the disc so that one of these notches is at its upper part, it is possible to pass through this notch a wire 13 which comes from a supply spool 14 and which is suitably led by a wire guide. 15 to wind up on a spool 16. In order to keep the bath in a sufficiently fluid state, the device is provided with heating means, for example an electric resistance 30.
The impregnation of yarns grouped in skeins, ribbons or sheets can take place before or after winding the yarns on a receiving beam, that is to say at the entry or exit of the drum. the warping machine, for example during the operation corresponding to the unwinding of coils in the warping machine used for the formation of a bundle winding on the drum or even during the operation of unwinding the various bundles from this drum with a view to their winding on the beam, as well as when the threads unwind from one beam to wind up on another.
All this considerably facilitates the operation of sizing the threads and makes it possible to obtain speeds or yields not yet attained. The sizing apparatus can moreover be placed at any stage of the spinning mill from the start of the formation of the yarn until the moment when the fabric is formed.
An embodiment of the apparatus allowing the treatment of a layer of threads is shown in FIG. 4 and 5. In fig. 4 is shown a tray 17 of sufficient length, provided with a wick 18 and disposed above a support 19 between a pay-off drum 20 and a beam feeder 21. The threads 22 unwind from the drum 20 and pass under a roller guide 23; they brush against the wick 18 to wind up directly on the bundle 21; they are then already impregnated and able to be used immediately.
The embodiment of FIG. 5 has a beam with cheeks 24, the body of which is covered with a sheet of threads 25 which will roll up onto a receiving beam 26 also provided with cheeks. Between these two beams is placed an elongated tank 27 provided with an upright wick 28 with the upper edge of which the son pass in contact.
Thanks to these characteristics, one obtains the enormous advantage of being able to carry out the bonding of the wire in the detenchanging or unwinding machines from which the skeins or layers of wire emerge, by interposing an apparatus similar to that described in fig. 3 on the path traveled by the wires from the split point to their rolling on the spools, reels or other supports.
