Le manchon ou paquetage élasti que d'étanchéité 10, d'une pièce et par exemple en résine synthétique, est représenté en traits mixtes pour qu'on puisse se rendre compte de son diamètre extérieur et de celui . de son trou à l'état libre et respectivement les comparer avec les diamètres du trou 4 et du canon 3;
Ici, le trou du manchon d'étanchéité est ajusté libre ment, même avec un petit jeu radial, sur le canon 3 du poussoir, mais on conçoit que son diamètre soit réduit lorsque le manchon a. été forcé et comprimé dans le trou 4 et qu'il puisse enserrer ledit canon 3 de façon étan che;
Les dimensions du trou pour l'organe de com mande et de la partie coaxiale solidaire de celui-ci étant déterminées par leur construc tion, celles du manchon d'étanchéité seront imposées par les conditions d'étanchéité à réaliser et dépendront des propriétés physi ques de la matière utilisée;
Dans la deuxième forme d'exécution, montrée en fig. 2, l'organe de guidage ou douille 5, analogue à celui de la fig. 1, est aussi fixé à la carrure 6 de la boîte en le vissant mais en utilisant une clé prenant dans des encoches 14;
Waterproof case for watch movements and measuring devices. The object of the present invention is a sealed case for clock movements and measuring devices according to the claim of the main patent, characterized in that the hole serving as a housing for the sealing sleeve is limited by a drilled bottom and in this that the sleeve is placed in said hole,
without being clamped axially against its bottom.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the present invention, embodiments consisting of watch cases provided with a push-piece for controlling a chronograph mechanism. Each of fig. 1,
2 and 3 relate to one of these embodiments and is an axial section through its pusher.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the control member constituted by a pous evening comprises a hollowed out maneuvering head 1, which coaxially has a barrel produced in two sections 2 and 3, the blind central hole of which is threaded.
The cylindrical hole 4 of the box, for the passage of the control member, is here -in a guide member or sleeve 5, having two sections, screwed into the middle part 6 of the box, partially shown; this hole 4 is largely in the threaded section 5 'of small diameter, while the large section is polygonal on the outside to allow the sleeve to be screwed until its shoulder 7 is blocked against the middle part.
Said hole or housing is limited by the bottom 8 of the sleeve, forming one with the latter, and its central hole serves as a guide for the section â of the barrel of the maneuvering head; the latter is assembled to the guide member by means of the head of the screw 9 which, taking in its threaded blind hole, is blocked against the end of said barrel.
The elastic sealing sleeve or package 10, in one piece and for example made of synthetic resin, is shown in phantom so that we can see its outer diameter and that. of its hole in the free state and compare them respectively with the diameters of hole 4 and of barrel 3;
we then see that it is previously forced into this hole or housing 4 and that its length is such that it is housed there, without being axially tightened, between the bottom 8 of the sleeve and a thin washer 11, resting on a shoulder 12 which delimits the length of said hole and on which the opposing spring 13 bears, the other end of which exerts its action on the pusher.
Here, the hole of the sealing sleeve is fitted freely, even with a small radial play, on the barrel 3 of the pusher, but it is conceivable that its diameter is reduced when the sleeve has. been forced and compressed in the hole 4 and that it can grip said barrel 3 tightly;
given the surfaces in engagement it is understood that, by operating the pusher, it is its barrel 3 which will slide into the hole in the sleeve, the resistance due to friction being greater on the outside thereof. If we compare this embodiment with the devices in which the sleeve is axially clamped,
we realize that it provides the great advantage of making it possible to easily adjust and reduce the friction of the coaxial part secured to the pusher in the sleeve without adversely affecting the seal and that this manner of applying requires less precision in the adjustment of these parts; it follows that the opposing spring can be made weaker and even eliminated if the one which acts on the part of the mechanism controlled by the pusher is chosen a little stronger than if the latter were not mounted in a sealed manner.
The dimensions of the hole for the control member and of the coaxial part integral with the latter being determined by their construction, those of the sealing sleeve will be imposed by the sealing conditions to be achieved and will depend on the physical properties. the material used;
it will be understood that, depending on the case, the package will probably be adjusted, on the coaxial part integral with the control member, forced, free, so that the so-called part of the surround slides in the package which remains frozen.
In the second embodiment, shown in fig. 2, the guide member or sleeve 5, similar to that of FIG. 1, is also fixed to the caseband 6 of the case by screwing it but using a key taking in notches 14;
the sealing sleeve 10 is also forced into the hole 4 of the sleeve and tightly encloses the cylindrical part 16, with a coaxial rod 15 this time, made integral with the operating head 1, by locking it by screwing in the central hole tapped terminal 17.
The split head 18, by resting against the bottom of the socket, limits the path of the pusher. The package is therefore housed in the hole 4 absolutely free axially with its diameter and that of its hole dimensioned according to the hole 4 and the part 16 of the push rod, as already indicated for the first embodiment.
In this example, in order to be able to eliminate the antagonist spring of the pusher, the rod 15 has another cylindrical part 19 of smaller diameter than its part 16 and separated from the latter by an annular surface, cone 20. The parts 19 and 20 come into the hole of the sealing sleeve when the part of the inner mechanism is controlled by the pusher.
These parts 19-20, shown in dotted lines at the end of the stroke, show that then contact with the sleeve only exists over a very short length of part 16 and of cone 20; the rod 15 then being almost free, it is understood that the antagonist spring of the part of the internal mechanism is sufficient to return the pusher to its rest position.
Moreover, the adjustment of these parts can be modified at will to obtain the desired result, while reserving the seal; these parts 19-20 could be replaced by a single conical part. At least a small hole 27 is made in the wall of the pusher for the evacuation of water which may be in the device.
In the third embodiment (FIG. 3), the guide member 22 is a tubular part also in two sections; that of small diameter 22 'is driven into the middle part 6 of the case and its drilled bottom 28 is crimped in a groove at the end of said section.
The two parts 30, here forming the sealing sleeve, are also forced into the hole 24 of the tubular part 22, being separated by a washer 26, the large hole of which leaves a space free around the coaxial cylindrical rod 25 secured to the operating head 21 in the same way as in the second embodiment, a space which forms a good lubrication chamber.
In this case again, the two pieces of the sleeve are assembled without being axially tightened; if their external diameter in the free state is smaller compared to that of the hole 24 than in the other embodiments, they are on the other hand adjusted in the free state without play on the rod 25 which will also slide in the man chon when ordering the pusher 21, as in the previous examples.
The rod of the second and third embodiments could be removably assembled to the maneuvering head by driving into a cavity with a corresponding wall of said head, the cylindrical or conical end of the rod, the head of which would not have no longer need to be split.
The coaxial part integral with the actuator head could be a rod, manufactured or attached, the end of which, threaded, receives a nut for assembling said member to the box. When it has come from manufacture, we will ensure that it is the end of the rod that actuates the part to be controlled so that the nut does not unscrew when the internal mechanism is operated.
In all the embodiments described, the cylindrical hole for the control member and in which the sealing sleeve is housed is located in a part attached to the box, in an integral and sealed manner, but it goes from that said hole could be made directly in the box; the maneuvering head would then penetrate, for example, into said hole or into a concentric groove in order to be guided therein.
One could, of course, size the outer diameter of the package and that of its hole so that it is driven by the coaxial part secured to the control member and slides in its housing 4, or when the latter is performed directly in the box, or when it is in an attached guide member. The washer which separates the two parts of the sleeve, in the third embodiment,
would then be fitted to the rod 25 and made smaller than said parts, so as to produce a lubrication groove.
