Die Span nung<I>U</I> steigt mit zunehmendem Strom<I>J zu-</I> nächst nur langsam an,

Arrangement for connecting capacitances, especially capacitors, to an alternating current network. The invention relates to an arrangement for connecting capacitors, in particular capacitors, to an alternating current network, in which means for the optional connection and disconnection of the capacitors are provided.
It is known that when the capacitors are switched on, oscillation processes occur which can lead to high current peaks, especially when several units are connected in parallel. The same current peaks occur when, when the capacitors are switched off, the isolating distance is broken down by the returning voltage while the switch is opened. The shutdown process is therefore no longer easy to cope with, especially at high voltages, and damping resistors must be used to facilitate the switching processes.
A disadvantage of these damping resistors is that they have a comparatively high voltage drop and can therefore no longer remain switched on permanently at higher powers. For this reason, special bridging switches are seen, or the main switch is equipped with an additional contact that bridges the damping resistor after the switching process is complete.
According to the invention, the effort required in known devices for bridging the damping resistor is avoided in that frequency-dependent resistors are used as damping resistors.
The damping resistors are designed so that their resistance is practically negligible at the operating frequency, while at frequencies. which are several times higher than the operating frequency, the damping resistance becomes so great that sufficient damping is enforced in the range of these frequencies.
The frequency dependence can e.g. B. can be achieved by that an ohmic resistance, a choke coil or an oscillating circuit is connected in parallel, which has a low resistance at the operating frequency and a high resistance at the high oscillation frequency.
In Fig.1 the circuit for a Kon capacitor 1 is shown, which is ruled out via a scarf ter 2 to an alternating current network 3. Between the switch and the capacitor there is an ohmic resistor 4 to which an oscillating circuit is connected in parallel, which consists of the series connection of an inductance 5 and a condenser 6.
The voltage resonance circuit connected in parallel is matched to the mains frequency so that the ohmic resistance 4 is practically bridged in the range of the operating frequency. In the range of higher frequencies, the total resistance formed by connecting the ohmic resistance in parallel with the resonant circuit increases and acts as a damping resistance for the transient process when switching. Since with capacitors often <RTI
ID = "0002.0007"> current harmonics occur that would cause permanent losses in the ohmic resistance, another resonant circuit can be connected in parallel to the ohmic resistance, which is tuned to the 5th harmonic.
In the event of short circuits behind the damping resistor, the voltage resonance circuit would absorb very high currents for the mains frequency in accordance with the circuit in FIG. 1. In order to protect the capacitor of the resonant circuit against it, a spark gap can be connected in parallel to it, which, for example, bridges the capacitor at double the voltage, in which case the inductor then limits the current.
A breakdown fuse can also be used instead of the spark gap. But you can also equip the choke coil with an iron core, which saturates at higher voltages, so that detuning of the oscillating circuit occurs and the capacitor current is limited.
If an electrolytic capacitor is used as the capacitor of the oscillation circuit, this will break down, but the capacitor will regenerate and can still be used.
A circuit is shown in FIG. in which between the capacitor 1 and the switch 2, as in the circuit according to FIG. 1, there is an ohmic resistor 4.
Notwithstanding the circuit of FIG. 1, this ohmic resistance is connected to a blocking circuit which consists of the parallel connection of a choke coil 7 and a capacitor 8. The trap circuit is tuned in such a way that it has a low resistance at the mains frequency and a high resistance at the single oscillation frequency of the switching processes.
A further advantageous embodiment is obtained when the parallel connection of a choke coil and a voltage-dependent resistor, the resistance value of which decreases with increasing voltage, is used as the damping resistor, similar to the embodiment according to FIG the losses in resistance in continuous operation are meaningless without the damping properties suffering.
If the impedance of the choke coil is, for example, 3% of the impedance of the capacitor, and the parallel resistance to the choke has a resistance value of 20%, then the power loss in continuous operation would be proportionate without voltage dependence of this resistance
EMI0002.0078
be.
However, if the resistance value increases due to the voltage dependency at the low continuous voltage of 20% to 5 times the above value, then the losses in continuous operation are only
EMI0002.0083
amount, a value that is easily bearable even with greater performance.
The same material as for surge arresters can be used as the material for the voltage-dependent resistor. But you can also connect an ohmic resistor 22 with a fixed resistance value with a saturated inductor 21 in series, as shown in FIG.
The choke coil 21 is designed without an air gap with a completely closed iron circuit and is dimensioned in such a way that during continuous operation the voltage at the choke coil 20 is largely taken over by the choke coil 21, and only a small amount of the voltage at the resistor 22 remains,
that is to say, the choke coil 21 has only a very low magnetization current and will work in continuous operation below the saturation knee of its magnetization characteristic.
During the settling process, the voltage at the choke coil 20 increases several times over, the choke coil 21 comes into the saturation area despite the higher oscillation frequency, and the resistor 22 comes into effect.
The choke coil 20 is expediently dimensioned in such a way that its inductance, together with the inductances and the capacitor capacitance that are otherwise connected upstream in the network, do not result in a resonance frequency that corresponds to a harmonic present in the network.
As such a choke coil which, according to FIG. 20, forms part of the damping resistance. can also be used before the capacitor connected throttles, which also have the purpose of protecting the capacitor from certain harmonics or to suck out certain harmonics from the three-phase network in cooperation with the capacitor.
Another embodiment for a frequency-dependent variable damping resistance is obtained by utilizing the current displacement. A conductor with a diameter such that the resistance is increased as much as possible at the high frequency compared to the mains frequency is used as the damping resistor.
Favorable dimensions result when iron is used as the conductor material. It is important to choose such a type of iron that the permeability changes only slightly between the nominal current and the maximum current. With the correct choice of the conductor diameter, it can be achieved that the resistance increases approximately with the square root of the frequency ratio. With larger currents, a corresponding number of such resistance elements can be connected in parallel.
This training of the resistance will suffice for medium powers. The resistance value at the nominal frequency is then so low that the losses are, for example, only 0.5% of the throughput and can be accepted permanently. If a strong 5th current harmonic occurs during operation, a special voltage resonance circuit is advantageously connected in parallel, which is tuned to the 5th harmonic.
In Fig. 4 the circuit of a capacitor bank consisting of three capacitors 10, 11 and 12 is shown, which are connected to a Wech selstromnetz 14 via a common switch 13.
The switch 13 is designed as a circuit breaker and is used for short-circuit protection. To switch the individual capacitor units 10, 11, 12 on and off, switches 15, 16 and 17, which can be designed as circuit breakers, are used. The frequency-dependent damping resistors are located between these switches 15 and 17 and the capacitors 10 to 12.
The switching arrangement according to the invention, in which a choke coil is connected in series with the capacitor to be switched and a resistor is connected in parallel, can be improved in that a spark gap is connected in series with the parallel resistor.
This spark gap is designed in such a way that it responds as soon as the voltage of the parallel circuit exceeds 1.5 to 2 times the normal operating voltage. If the spark gap responds to such voltage values, it extinguishes the subsequent current in the parallel circuit.
For this purpose, the spark gap is advantageously designed as a so-called quenching spark gap. It is advantageous to make the electrodes of the spark gap from carbon or graphite, because then no melting pearls can form despite the high current surges.
This embodiment of the invention has the advantage that no losses occur in the circuit connected in parallel with the choke coil in the normal operating state, because no current can flow through the spark gap below the voltage limits mentioned. However, the parallel circuit can take over its task of facilitating the switch of the capacitors as soon as this is indicated by the increased voltage.
If the intended extinction of the current through the spark gap does not occur for any reason after a flashover during operation, the main switch of the system can be switched off by an overcurrent release in the resistance circuit.
The switching of the capacitor can be further improved in that, in addition to the spark gap, a voltage-dependent resistor is connected in series in the parallel circuit, the resistance value of which decreases as the voltage increases. It can also stand the parallel resistance itself, for.
B. a liquid resistance, be formed as a voltage-dependent resistor. A saturated choke coil connected in series with the parallel resistor can also serve the same purpose.
This choke coil is designed with a completely closed iron circuit without an air gap and is dimensioned in such a way that it only absorbs a very low magnetizing current during continuous operation and accordingly works in the unsaturated area of its magnetizing characteristic. When the capacitor is switched, the voltage of the parallel circuit increases many times over, so that the iron core of the choke coil is saturated.
In FIG. 5, a capacitor 31 is connected to an alternating current network 33 via a switch 32. A damping throttle 34, to which an ohmic resistor 35 is connected in parallel, is used to facilitate the switching operations. In series with the resistor 35 is a spark gap 36 and, if necessary, a voltage-dependent resistor 37.
This embodiment of the invention, like those previously described, is of particular importance for capacitors which are connected to the AC power supply to supply reactive power and are switched on and off to adapt to the respective reactive power requirement. The circuit can, however, also be used to facilitate the switching operations with other capacities, in particular with cable sections, the shutdown of which when idling has often led to difficulties because of the relatively high capacity.
In the case of such cable branches, it is advantageous to use the series inductors provided for limiting the current flow at the same time as damping inductance by arranging ohmic resistances in parallel with them. Studies have shown that an inadmissible increase (swaying) of the tension is avoided.
if the damping, i.e. the ratio between successive current or voltage amplitudes, is made smaller than 0.4. With a low capacitor power and with voltages of up to about 20 kV, you can go up to an attenuation of 0.5 to 0.6 without having to fear difficulties. Making the attenuation less than 0.1 has no value.
The ohmic resistance parallel to the damping choke coil will not be made smaller than is absolutely necessary, because otherwise the inrush current in the event of a backfire would be unnecessarily large and the resistance would have to withstand a larger current in the event of a short circuit, which makes it more expensive.
Tests have shown that good damping is achieved when the damping throttle is at least three times; expediently has four times the inductance of the line in front of the choke including the inductances of any transformers present. The resistance is expediently dimensioned so that its resistance value is in the range of 0.5 to 2 times,
Mainly 0.5 to 1 times the apparent resistance of the damping choke at which the oscillation frequency is.
The embodiment according to the invention, in which the capacitors to be switched, the parallel connection of a choke coil and an ohmic resistor is connected upstream, can also be improved by switching an auxiliary voltage into the parallel circuit, which is in normal operation counteracts the voltage in the parallel resistor in approximately the same size,
while this equilibrium of voltages is no longer present during the switching process. This circuit has the advantage that, during normal operation, only a small or no current flows in the parallel circuit and that the continuous operating losses in the parallel circuit are accordingly reduced to a minimum. .
In FIG. 6, a capacitor 41 is connected to an alternating current network 48 via a switch 42. As a damping device is a choke coil 44 with parallel resistance 45 between the capacitor 41 and the switch 42. In the parallel circuit is except the resistor 45, the secondary winding 47 of an auxiliary transformer whose primary winding 46 is connected to the choke 44 in series.
The iron core of the auxiliary transformer 46, 47 is dimensioned so that it works in the saturation area as soon as the voltage on the primary winding 46 exceeds a certain level. The transmission ratio between the two windings 46 and 47 is to be measured in such a way that, in continuous operation, the voltage of the secondary winding 47 is approximately as large and in the opposite direction as the voltage at the choke coil 44.
Accordingly, only a negligibly small or no current flows in the resistor 45 in continuous operation, and there are no losses in this resistor either. If when switching the capacitor 41, for example when switching off, the voltage across the inductor 44 increases significantly, the iron core of the transformer 46, 47 reaches the saturation range of its Ma gnetisierungskennlinie. The ratio between the voltage of the secondary winding 47 and the primary winding 46 changes therefore.
In this operating state, the voltage across the winding 47 is significantly lower than the voltage across the choke coil 44 and, accordingly, across the resistor 45. A current can now flow through resistor 45 so that this resistor can exercise its function as a damping resistor for the switching process.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 7, the secondary winding 47 of the HiNs transformer is in series with the parallel resistor 45 not directly on the choke coil 44, but on a secondary winding 144 of this choke coil. In addition, the transformer 46, 47 is designed in such a way that, when the voltage increases, the voltage on the secondary winding 47 no longer maintains the equilibrium of the voltage of the secondary winding 144 and a current can therefore flow in the resistor 45.
In this operating state, the resistor 45 can act as a damping resistor for the switching processes. This circuit has the advantage that the ohmic resistance was 45 in a circuit whose voltage can be selected independently of the voltage of the main circuit. The choke coil 44 expediently has an iron core with an air gap.
The iron core can be designed in such a way that it is saturated in the event of a short circuit in the capacitor and the full line voltage then occurring on the primary winding 44 is only partially transferred to the secondary side. The short-circuit power for which the resistor 45 is to be designed can be reduced considerably as a result.
The embodiment according to FIG. 8 differs from the embodiments of FIGS. 6 and 7 in that the primary winding 46 of the auxiliary transformer is connected to the mains voltage. The transmission ratio of the two windings 46 and 47 is to be dimensioned so that the voltage of the winding 47 maintains approximately the equilibrium with the voltage on the choke coil winding 44 during continuous operation.
As soon as the voltage of the inductor winding 44 grows when the capacitor 41 and the associated transients are switched on, this voltage outweighs the voltage of the winding 47, and a damping current flows in the resistor 45. In the circuit according to FIG. 8, it is not necessary for the transformer 46, 47 to operate in the saturation range during the switching processes.
In Fig. 9, an embodiment of the invention is shown in which, similar to the circuit of FIG. 8, the primary winding of the auxiliary transformer is fed from the mains voltage. In this case, the primary windings of a star connected auxiliary transformer are connected in parallel to the capacitors to be connected.
Fig. 10 shows a modification of the circuit of FIG. 9, in which, similar to the circuit of FIG. 7, the secondary windings of the auxiliary transformer to secondary windings of the damping reactors are closed.
If the capacitors to be switched are connected to the AC power supply via a transformer, the counter-voltage in the parallel circuit of the damping reactors of a Tertiärwick-Jung can be taken from this transformer. Such a circuit is shown in FIG.
It is assumed here that the secondary windings of a transformer 48 between the alternating current network 48 and the capacitors 41 have such a high degree of scatter that a special damping reactor is not required. The parallel resistors 45 are connected in series with tertiary windings 49 of the transformer 48.
It must be ensured that the scatter between the primary winding of the transformer 48 and the tertiary windings 49 is small compared to the scatter between the primary and secondary windings of the transformer 48.
If the transformer 48 is also used to supply other consumers, so that the secondary voltage of the transformer changes as a result of the various voltage drops, it is useful to place the voltage of the tertiary winding 49 in the middle between the highest and lowest voltage the secondary winding of the transformer 48 to lay.
Another embodiment of the invention consists in that the auxiliary voltage in the parallel circuit of the choke coil is taken from a secondary winding of the damping choke coil itself. So there are the choke coil 44 and the auxiliary transformer 46, 47 in the circuits of FIGS. 6 and 7 combined into a common apparatus, as indicated in the circuit of FIG.
The two windings 44 and 47 are arranged on the same iron core or. the like of the two windings are designed so that they form a common magnetic path. In the case of a three-phase circuit, one can either use three single-phase ones, as shown in FIG. 1a, or according to FIG. 14, one three-phase ones.
The iron core of the windings 44 of the choke coil has a significantly larger cross section than the iron core of the windings 47 that generate the counter-voltage. In addition, there are air gaps between the two cores. In continuous operation, the core of the windings 47 is unsaturated and the flux of the choke coils 44 closes essentially via the core of the windings 47. During the transient process, the flux increases in accordance with the increasing voltage on the winding 44.
The core of the windings 47 becomes saturated, and a substantial part of the flux of the choke coils 44 closes on paths which are not linked to the coils 47. Accordingly, the transmission ratio between the voltages of the windings 44 and 47 changes in such a way that at higher voltages on the winding 44, the voltages on the winding 47 increase significantly less and therefore the voltage on the windings 44 no longer keep the balance.
The circuits described above can be supplemented by an additional device, by means of which vibrations are taken into account which can occur during the switch-off process and which have a multiple of the normal natural vibration frequency. For such Schwingun conditions, a winding connected in series with the resistor 45 of the above circuits may have too high an inductive resistance and thus make damping impossible.
It is therefore advantageous to place an ohmic resistance parallel to these windings, that is to say parallel to the windings 47 of the circuits of FIGS. 6 to 10 and 12, the ohmic value of which is about five to ten times as large as the apparent resistance of the winding 47 at normal frequency.
The embodiments of the invention explained with reference to FIGS. 6-14 are of particular importance for capacitors which are connected to AC power supply systems to supply reactive power and which are switched on and off to adapt to the respective reactive power requirement. However, the invention can also be used to facilitate the switching operations for other capacities, especially in cable sections, whose shutdown when idling because of the relatively high capacity has often led to difficulties.
In the case of such cable branches, it is advantageous to use the series choke coils provided for short-circuit current limitation at the same time as damping inductance by arranging ohmic resistances in parallel with them.
The damping device, which consists of a choke coil with a parallel resistor, can be further improved by giving the choke coil a direct current bias, which is dimensioned so that the voltage drop of the choke coil in normal operation is significantly smaller than during the switching process and the associated high, current flowing through the choke coil.
If a choke coil is connected as a damping device in front of a capacitor, this changes the resonance position. If, for example, the inductance present in front of a capacitor in the lines and transformers is 0.5% of the capacitive value of the capacitor, then in order to obtain good damping, the damping choke must have an inductance of at least < B> 1.5% </B>.
The total inductance is then 2%, and voltage resonance occurs at the 7th harmonic. If there is a strong 7th harmonic in the network, this can cause difficulties. These difficulties are countered by equipping the damping choke coil with direct current pre-magnetization.
It is then not necessary for the damping throttle to be enlarged further in order to bring the resonance frequency into a range that is harmless to operation.
The pre-magnetization ensures that the damping choke has only a low inductance in normal operation, for example <B> 0.5% </B> instead of 1.5% as mentioned above. In the assumed example, the total inductance is then 1% instead of 2% as provided, and the natural frequency is 10 times that and is generally harmless.
The mode of operation results from the diagram in FIG. It is the known characteristic of a pre-magnetized choke coil, with the alternating current flowing through the choke coil as abscissa and the voltages at the choke coil as ordinates. The voltage <I> U </I> rises slowly with increasing current <I> J- </I> next,
until the Weöhsel current magnetization is greater than the direct current bias. Then the voltage rises rapidly until a saturation area joins again.
The continuous current Jn generates only a small voltage drop U in the choke coil. The inrush current JE, which has approximately the same value as the continuous current, leads to a much higher voltage UE, which, according to the diagram, is about twenty times as large as the normal voltage TU ". The inductance in the switch-on process is therefore four times as great as in continuous operation.
In the above example, the required value of 2% inductance for the damping choke is effective for the switch-on process. The ohmic resistance, which is connected in parallel to the choke coil, is 0.5 to 1X as large as the impedance of the choke coil during the switch-on process,
in the present case, about 7 to 14% of the capacitor resistance. Due to the reduced voltage drop as a result of the premagnetization, the permanent losses in the ohmic resistance are already reduced so far that further measures, such as the series connection of a voltage-dependent resistor or a saturated choke coil,
are generally not required. Because the current J ″ is still in the straight-line part of the current-voltage characteristic, the generation of additional harmonics is avoided.
16 shows the circuit for a damping choke coil with premagnetization. The between the capacitor 51 and the switch 52 BEZW. The damping inductor lying on the network <B> 53 </B> consists of two parts 54 and 55,
whose bias windings are connected in series to a rectifier 56 and via this to a transformer 57. The two bias windings are connected in such a way that the alternating voltages induced in them cancel each other out. The primary winding of the transformer 57 is parallel to the capacitor 51.
The magnetization of the damping choke coil is expediently made controllable, for example with the help of taps on the pre-magnetization winding or on the alternating current winding of the choke coil. A controllable direct current source can also be used for the premagnetization in order to be able to adapt to changing network conditions. The change in the bias current can be made dependent on the magnitude of the current of a certain harmonic.
The subdivision of the damping choke coil shown in FIG. 16 has the advantage that uneven harmonics and large voltage peaks in the direct current circuit are avoided during the switching process. In order to make the bias current independent of the processes in the AC circuit, a smoothing inductance can be switched into the bias circuit.
FIG. 17 shows an embodiment which has the advantage that undesirably high AC voltages in the pre-magnetization circuit are avoided at the moment of the switch-on process. The bias windings are divided into several parts and connected in series to the direct current source. The partial windings are connected to one another in such a way that the alternating voltages cancel each other out with reference to the fundamental frequency.
The circuit of FIG. 17 shows another possible arrangement for the parallel resistances of the damping choke coils. These resistors are connected in parallel to the bias windings of the choke coil. This has the advantage that the resistances can be dimensioned for low voltages.
In Fig. 18 an appropriate, imple mentation form for one of the vormagnetized th damping inductors is indicated. The choke coil is three-legged and carries the direct current bias winding on its middle leg.
The embodiment of the invention explained in FIGS. 15-18 is also of particular importance for capacitors, which are connected to AC networks for reactive power supply and are switched on and off to adapt to the respective reactive power requirement. However, the circuit can also be used to facilitate switching operations in other capacities, especially in the case of cable sections, the shutdown of which when idling has often led to difficulties because of the relatively high capacity.
The damping device, which consists of a choke coil with a parallel resistor, can also be designed in another way. The following embodiment refers to it. Capacitors which are connected to partial busbars in electrical energy distribution systems, from which a group of consumers is fed. These partial busbars are connected to a common busbar with a higher voltage via transformers.
The inductance of the transformers between the capacitors and the AC power supply in connection with resistors, via which the partial busbars are connected to one another, is measured in such a way that the inductance of the transformers and the cross resistances between the partial busbars act as damping resistors serve for the switching oscillations when connecting and disconnecting the capacitors.
The partial busbars can be connected to one another via ohmic resistors; the damping inductance is then supplied by the leakage inductance of the transformers. Another possibility is that shunt reactors, which are connected between two busbars to limit the short-circuit power, are bridged by an ohmic resistance.
In this case, the damping inductance is formed by the inductance of the transverse choke together with the leakage inductances of the two transformers, via which the partial busbars are fed from the common high-voltage busbar.
In the circuit according to FIG. 19, two bus bars 61 and 62 are provided, to each of which a larger number of consumers is connected. Capacitors 63 and 64 are respectively on the busbars. Capacitor batteries that can be switched on and off in individual parts for the purpose of regulation. The two Teil- Sammelsclii.enen are connected to a common busbar 67 via transformers 65 and 66.
The busbar 67 can be fed, for example, from a 30 kV network, while the busbars 61 and 62 operate with a voltage of 6 kV.
Between the two partial busbars 61 and 62 there is an ohmic resistor 68 which, together with the inductances of the two transformers 65 and 66, serves to dampen the switching oscillations when the capacitors 63 and 64 are switched. The resistor 68 takes over the voltage equalization between the partial busbars 61 and 62 and at the same time takes over the task of the resistor 4 in FIG.
In the circuit according to FIG. 20, between the two busbars 71 and 72 there is a transverse choke 79 which is used to limit the short-circuit power.
An ohmic resistor 70 is connected in parallel with this choke. In this case, the damping inductance is formed by the leakage inductance of the two transformers and the inductance of the transverse choke 79:
The damping choke coil of a damping device according to FIG. 20 consisting of a choke coil with a parallel resistor is expediently dimensioned so that its inductance is at least three, expediently four times as large as the inductance of the line connected upstream of the choke coil. Extensive investigations have shown that good damping can be achieved with this dimensioning of the damping inductor.
The ohmic resistance connected in parallel to the choke coil is expediently dimensioned so that its resistance value is 0.5 to 2 times, predominantly 0.5 to 1 times the value of the impedance of the damping choke coil at the oscillation frequency.
This dimensioning of the damping choke is of particular importance for capacitors that are connected to an alternating current network for supplying reactive power and are switched on and off to adapt to the respective reactive power requirement. However, it can also be used to facilitate the switching operations with other capacities that are connected to AC networks, especially for cable routes whose shutdown when idling has often led to difficulties because of the considerable capacity.
With such cable branches, it is advantageous to use the series chokes provided for short-circuit current limitation at the same time as damping inductance by arranging ohmic resistances in parallel, the resistance value of which has the dimensions given above with reference to the impedance value of the damping choke coil.
