Tool holder for lathe work. The present invention relates to a tool support for lathe work, which is characterized in that it comprises a body intended to be removably fixed on the lathe and around which is mounted for rotation a rotating member having means for removable attachment to it of a tool holder, and in that it has means for locking the rotating member on the aforesaid body, in any desired relative angular position.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the support which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view thereof and FIG. 2 a corresponding plan view. The tool support shown comprises a body 1, intended to be fixed in a removable manner, by means of a bolt 2, on a lathe, not shown. The body 1 has a cylindrical periphery 3 on which is threaded with gentle friction a member 4 which is thus mounted to rotate on the body 1. The rotating member 4 has means for the removable attachment to it of a holder. tool 5.
There is shown in FIG. 1, in phantom lines, the position occupied by the tool 6, a chisel for example, on the tool holder 5.
The means in question comprise two .jaws 7, 8 carried by a pin 9 and pivoting on it; this axis has two cylindrical surfaces 10, 11, coaxial with each other, but eccentric with respect to the axis 9 and rotating in the member 4.
The bearing surface 10 ends at its upper end with a square head 12, intended to cooperate with a key to rotate the axis 9 of pivoting of the jaws around the geometric axis of the bearing surfaces 10 and 11. The free end of the two jaws 7, 8 ends with a part 13, resp. 14, in the shape of L, cooperating with slits 15, resp. 16, of corresponding shape, formed in the tool holder 5, and extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the body 4.
It will be understood that, given the eccentricity of the axis 9 and its position diametrically opposed to the tool support 7 with respect to the member 4, when the square head 12 is rotated, the axis 9 can be moved closer to or away from the axis of rotation of the rotating member 4. In the brought closer position, the tool holder 5 can slide freely through its slots 15, 16 along the ends 13, 14 of the jaws.
On the contrary, in the separated position, the arcuate surface 17 of the tool holder 5 is energetically applied against the cylindrical periphery of the rotating member 4, which immobilizes this tool holder relative to this member.
It is easy to see that, thanks to this dis position, the tool holder can be put in place or replaced by another tool holder of the same shape, very quickly. An adjusting screw 18, the end of which is intended to cooperate with a fixed part of the lathe, not shown, makes it possible to adjust the position of the tool holder 5 relative to the rotating member 4, in the direction parallel to the axis of rotation of this body.
The following means are planned. to block the rotating member 4 on the body 1, in any desired relative angular position with respect to this body. An axis 19, the axis of which is parallel to the axis of rotation of the or gane 4, rotates, on the one hand, in the body 1 by its lower end and, on the other hand, by its upper end, in a pla that 20 made integral with this body and serving to maintain the member 4 axially fixed relative to said body. 1. This axis 19 has two eccentric parts 21, 22, tines to cooperate, the first, with the part 1 and the second, with the rotating member 4, to block this rotating member by friction on the body in question.
To bring the eccentrics 21, 22 into the active position, that is to say in contact respectively with the body 1 and the member 4, one acts by means of a key on the square head 23 that the axis 19 presents. at its upper end. It is therefore understood that, when the eccentrics 21, 22 are in the inactive position, it is possible to rotate freely. organ 4 on body 1, then, once there. desired angular position reached, this member 4 can be blocked relative to the body 1.
A mark 24, provided on the upper face of the member 4, is intended to cooperate with a graduation 25 of the plate 20 to mark the relative angular position of the member 4 - and of the body. 1.
