Description

Driving to Klebon. It has been found that polymeric methacrylic acid esters, for example polymethacrylic acid butyl ester, are particularly suitable for gluing, in particular for gluing leather particles, for example comminuted leather waste and fibers.

The adhesive can be used in any suitable form, for example in solid form as a powder or as films or in solution. Aqueous dispersions with or without wetting and emulsifying agents, which can be used like latex, are very useful.

Such a polymer can be used alone or together with other substances, such as plasticizers, other natural or artificial adhesives, diluents, fillers, for example fibers other than those derived from leather.

Special effects can be achieved if mixtures of adhesives are used that do not or only poorly get along with one another, for example do not dissolve in one another. Such adhesives, for example when gluing leather waste to artificial leather, give it an additional structure, for example by making it more porous.

Such a plastic that is incompatible with polymethacrylic acid esters is, for example, polyvinyl acetate. Both types of plastics can be applied to the leather waste at the same time or one after the other as a common solution or as an emulsion.

The bonding can be done in any way, for example by pressure or heat. Working according to Swiss patent no. 118458 for the production of artificial leather, for example, gives excellent results.

Klan can also proceed in such a way that the polymethacrylic ester or the additional adhesives or both, for example in the leather compound, are post-cured.

A very suitable way of working when carrying out the process according to the invention for gluing fibers to form synthetic leather is also obtained by using adhesive of the specified type in emulsion form and proceeding in such a way that the adhesive is only coagulated after one has been transferred the fibers hergestell th pulp in a plate-shaped BEZW. Fleece-like state with electrolyte solutions, such as saline solution, executes.
