Device for fixing a machine part in several successive positions, with automatic and precise take-up of play. The object of the invention is a device for fixing a: part. machine -in several successive positions, with automatic and precise take-up of play, in relation to a fixed part.
It is characterized in that the machine part which can be fixed in several successive positions and the fixed part each have a series of teeth, these series being arranged parallel and close to one another, so that balls can engage, each simultaneously and partially in the between-teeth of the two series, and in that the engagement of the balls in the between-teeth is caused by the pressure of a member having a face:
bearing on the balls, inclined with respect to the direction of its own movement, the pressure that this organ exerts on the bibles being communicated to it by a member, to operate by means of: a spring, the all arranged - so that the parts can be joined: in several successive positions determined or on the contrary be made free with respect to each other by the action of the operating member, while allowing the catching. automatic game.
In the appended -dessin, given by way of example, is shown in elevation and in plan with partial sections, a machine tool-holder turret provided with the device according to the invention.
The tool holder turret shown com takes a body 1, constituting the movable part which can be fixed in several successive positions. He presents on his. a series of teeth 10. This body 1 can pivot around the fixed part 9, which also has a series of teeth 8 placed near the teeth 10. These series of teeth 8 and 10 are arranged in such a manner that their head ridges form an angle of approximately 90 between them.
A rod or pin 2, passing axially through the body 1 and the fixed part or crown 9, is fixed to the frame of the machine. The free end of this bbge has a thread onto which the tightening nut 3 is screwed, constituting the operating member. In the teeth of the series of teeth 8 and; 111 are arranged balls 7. These balls are. pushed into these teeth by a ring 6 to. conical outer surface. The generator of the cone of this ring forms a triangle with the leading edges of the teeth 8 and 1.0.
The pressure of the nut 3 is transmitted to the ring 6 by means of a pressing ring 4. on a spring. 5 . At the end of the tightening of the nut 3, the ring 4 comes to rest on an interior bearing surface of the body 1, which makes it possible to lock the turret in position.
The operation is as follows: Turret 1 can rotate freely around the axis? when the nut a is sufficiently unscrewed so that the spring 5 no longer exerts pressure on the ring 6 and the balls 7 can be released freely from the teeth of the crown 9 and of the turret 1. By screwing the 'nut 3, so that the spring 5 applies a certain pressure on the ring 6, the pivoting of the turret is no longer free, but stopped in one of several positions, the number of which is equal to the number of teeth in turret 1 and crown 9.
Indeed, by screwing the nut 3, the latter pushes it. ring -? - and. via the spring i. the cone ring 6 causes the balls 7 to partially and simultaneously penetrate between the teeth 8 of the fixed part 9 and the teeth 10 of the roof. - movable relle 1, giving the latter a determined orientation and a high pre-position cision. By continuing to screw the nut 3, the ring t bears on the turret 1 and blocks it.
The spring 5 gives an elastic support on the cone ring 6. and automatically takes up the play occurring in use on the teeth 8 and 10.
