Process to accelerate sludge digestion in wastewater treatment plants by combining circulation and heating of the sludge in a digester. To achieve a maximum Gasaus booty and to accelerate the lazy process, it is common to provide a stirrer or a circulating device and on the other hand a heater in the septic tank from water purification systems.
The heat required to maintain the optimum temperature in the digester and to warm up the fresh sludge that is introduced is mostly generated from the digester gas that occurs in the plant itself, either as waste heat from gas engines or by directly burning digester gas in a boiler . The heat generated is transferred to the digester content and the fresh sludge introduced indirectly through heated surfaces.
These heated surfaces are usually in the form of pipe registers that are arranged on the periphery in the digester so that an agitator or the like can be arranged in the free interior of the digester to circulate the contents, or they consist of one or more pipes bundle, which are arranged so that they are accessible through openings in the ceiling of the digester and can be lifted out of the digester for cleaning. The circulation of the digester contents can be effected with advantage by a screw shovel with a suction pipe reaching deep into the digester.
These heated surfaces, be it tube registers or tube bundles, have the disadvantage that after a short time sludge sticks to them and causes encrustation of the heat exchange surfaces, which forms an actual thermal insulation. The heating becomes uneconomical and the heating pipe registers or heating pipe bundles have to be cleaned frequently, for which purpose they are either removed from the digester. have to or the digester has to be emptied. However, this is always associated with a long interruption in operations. The present invention can solve these disadvantages and achieve better performance.
The subject of the present invention is a method for accelerating the sludge digestion in wastewater treatment plants by combining circulation and heating of the sludge in a digester, according to which the heating of the sludge takes place by a smooth heating surface at that point in the digester where the device generated by a Umwälzungseinrich device The mud flow is greatest.
The fact that the heating surface is arranged at that point in the digester where the flow generated by the Umwälzungsein direction is strongest, firstly, a very good heat transfer from the heating surface to the sludge is achieved and also a crust formation on the heating surface that is smooth, largely avoided.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the device, which is also the subject of the invention, are shown schematically in front of the device for carrying out the method according to the invention, as well as an embodiment variant. 1 shows a vertical section through the digester of a sewage treatment plant with the device according to the invention according to a first embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a vertical partial section through such a digester with the device according to a second embodiment, FIG Execution variant of the circulation and heating device, partly in section, Fig. 4 is a partial section for this on a larger scale rem.
A pipe 3 is mounted vertically on a support 2 at a central point in the digester 1 of a wastewater treatment plant. This tube 3 is open at the bottom and top and its mouths are somewhat widened. The pipe 3 is. surrounded by a heating jacket 4 which is connected to a heating medium line 5, 5 '. The heating medium, which can be liquid or gaseous, is heated in a gas furnace 6, which is advantageously operated with methane gas, and is set in circulation by a circulation pump 7 in the heating medium line 5, 5 '. The entry of the heating medium into the heating jacket 4 takes place below and the exit above.
In the uppermost part of the pipe 3, a circulating propeller 8 is arranged, which sits at the lower end of the vertical shaft of an electric motor 9, which is mounted on a carrier 10 which is mounted above an opening 11 in the ceiling of the digester 1. The opening 11 is gas-tight. Above half the circulating propeller 8, a protective cone 12 is arranged on the shaft of the electric motor 9, which protects the entry point of the shaft into the housing of the electric motor 9 from mud splashes. The introduction of the fresh sludge into the digestion chamber 1 takes place through a pipe 13 which is connected to a laterally at the lowest part of the pipe 3, the heating jacket 4 by setting pipe socket 14.
The fresh sludge thus arrives directly in the heated pipe 3 and is carried away by the current prevailing in it. The fresh sludge could, however, also simply be passed into the lowest part of the digester 1.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the circulation of the Sehlam mes is effected by a circulation pump 15 arranged outside of the digester 1. The suction pipe 16 of this circulation pump 15 is closed to the lower part of an inlet pipe 17 for the fresh sludge, which opens into the lowest part of the digester 1. In this way, fresh sludge and sludge introduced from the lowest part of the digestion chamber 1 is sucked in by the circulation pump 15 through the introduction tube 17.
The pressure pipe 18 of the circulating pump 15 opens into the lower part of a pipe provided with a heating jacket 19 and mounted on a support 20 at a central point in the digestion chamber 1 in such a way that a flow is generated in this pipe from below upwards.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the vertical tube, which is mounted on a support 22 at a central point in the digestion chamber (not shown), consists of several. Parts put together. The uppermost part 2, 3 is designed like a nozzle, and the circulating propeller 24 is arranged at its narrowest point. The middle parts 25 and 25 'of this tube are heated, with a heating medium looped around them in a spiral for heating purposes. Heating coil 26 respectively. 26 'formed ter heating jacket is used. The heating coils 26 and 26 'are connected to one another by a bridging line 27.
The lowest piece 2 & of the tube is stored in the support 22 and expanded at its mouth. The fresh sludge is introduced into this part 25 through a pipe 29 which is ruled out on a nozzle 30 attached to the part 25 of the pipe.
By the circulating propeller 8 respectively. 24 is in the centrally located in the digestion chamber 1 on the tube 3 BEZW. 21 or 23, 25, 25 ', 28 achieved a strong current. This strong flow prevents the smooth inner surface of this pipe from sticking to the sludge, which would worsen the heat transfer from the heated surface to the mud. This strong flow ensures a very good heat transfer from the heated one. Inner surface of this pipe achieved on the mud.
By heating the interior of this pipe, when the level of the digester contents is above the mouth of the pipe, a thermosiphon effect is achieved, whereby the flow of the sludge in the pipe is increased and which causes a certain circulation of the even when the circulating propeller 8 is stationary Mud takes place. The heated sludge flowing out of the top of the pipe is distributed over the entire surface of the sludge in the digestion chamber 1 and gradually sinks to the bottom, so that the entire digestion chamber is heated evenly and the digestion process is accelerated.
The outside of the heating jacket 4 is advantageous. 19 or 26, 26 'with a covering made of heat-insulating material, which at the same time protects the heating jacket from corrosion. It is achieved in this way that only the inner surface of the tube 3 BEZW. 21 or 25, 25 'gives off a considerable amount of heat. This increases the thermosiphon effect. As shown in FIG. 4, the heating coils 26, 26 'have a semicircular, open profile, so that the heating medium flowing in them touches the outer wall of the tubes 25, 25' directly. To the outside, the heating coils 26, 26 'of a heat-insulating and anti-corrosion protection Man tel 31, z. B. a concrete Torkret coat surrounded.
If after a long period of use a cleaning of the centrally arranged pipe in the digester becomes necessary, the carrier 10 with the electric motor 9 and the circulating propeller 8 respectively. 24 and at. the embodiment according to FIG. 3 possibly the uppermost part 23 of the pipe removed, for which purpose a small assembly crane is advantageously seen above the digester. After removing these parts, the upper opening of the tube is exposed, and this can now be arranged in the simplest way with Stan conditions. Brushes or contaminated channel brushes are cleaned.
The heating jacket surrounding the pipe in which the circulation of the sludge is generated could also be electrically heated.
