Device for heating the air. The object of the invention is an apparatus for heating the air. This apparatus is characterized by a cylindrical sheet body, closed at one of its ends and intended to be heated from the outside, by means intended to bring the air to be heated inside said body and to give to this air a helical movement to the inner peripheria of said body, the heated air emerging axially from said cylindrical body.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of examples, three embodiments of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the second form.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of the third form, while fig, 4 is a cross section of this third form.
In all the embodiments shown, the apparatus comprises a cylindrical body 1 made of sheet metal, closed at one of its ends. In the devices of FIGS. 1 and 2, this body 1 is intended to be placed in the course of the hot combustion gases coming from a fireplace, in order to be heated from the outside. In the apparatus of FIGS. 3 and 4, the cylindrical body 1 is surrounded by a che setting 6 intended to be traversed by a current of hot air or steam, so that the body 1 is heated from the outside.
The devices shown include means intended to bring the air to be heated inside the body 1. In the devices of FIGS. 1 -and 2, these means are constituted by helical vanes 2 rotating around the axis of the cylindrical body, at the mouth of the latter. These pallets are rotated by a motor 3.
Under the action of the paddles 2, the air to be heated is introduced inside the cylindrical body 1 and it is driven by a helical movement at the inner periphery of the body 1, as shown by the arrows. in weak lines, the re-heated air coming out axially from said body 1, as indicated by the arrows in strong lines, In the apparatus of FIGS. 3 and 4, the air to be reheated is brought into the body 1 by at least one tube 4 opening tangentially into the body 1, which gives the air to be heated in a helical movement at the inner periphery of the body 1, as in the devices of fi. 1 and 2.
In the devices of FIGS. 2 and 3, 4, a tube 5 is placed inside the body 1, concentrically with the latter. This tube 5 is or green at its ends. Its purpose is to separate the air to be heated going down along the wall of the body 1, from the reheated air coming out axially from this body 1. above said body, the heated air coming out axially from said cylindrical body.
