Heizeinrichtung an Kraftfahrzeugen.
Heating device on motor vehicles. The invention relates to a heating device working with a flame on motor vehicles. Compared to the known design, in which a burner with a single container containing both the fuel and the fuel vapor, it aims to simplify operation and reduce the risk of fire.
According to the invention, this should be sufficient that for the evaporation of the fuel a special, assembled with the mixing tube and at least against the nozzle for the fuel vapor with a filling of gas-permeable and heat-insensitive substance, eg. B. asbestos cotton, provided smaller Verdampferkam mer and for the storage of Brennstof fes a separate larger fuel container is provided, which is connected to the Ver evaporator chamber by means of a shut-off member containing and her the fuel supply pipe.
The special vaporizer chamber with its smaller volume requires less heat and less time than the fuel container itself to form fuel vapor in the amount necessary to generate an ignitable mixture, with less liquid fuel escaping from the vaporizer chamber to the flame can. The filling of the vaporizer chamber continues to counteract the escape of liquid fuel from the vaporizer chamber and also accelerates the formation of vapor.
The shut-off element in the fuel line makes it possible for the vaporizer chamber to be filled with fuel only when it is heated up, which again reduces the possibility of liquid fuel escaping, and at the same time allows the avoidance of the inconvenience-causing needle upstream of the nozzle for the fuel vapor - valves of the known heating devices.
The assembly of the vaporizer chamber with the mixing tube on the one hand and its separation from the fuel tank on the other hand results, once the heating flame has reached the formation, a faster onset and more extensive re-heating of the vaporizer chamber from the heating flame in order to continue a sufficient formation of fuel vapor, which is why heating over it only needs to be continued for a very short time. This together he gives faster and safer commissioning of the heating system while at the same time greatly reducing the risk of fire.
The evaporator chamber is advantageously provided with a disconnectable electrical heating device, which receives its power from the electrical system of the motor vehicle. An open flame is then no longer required for heating, further simplifying operation and reducing the risk of fire. The low heat requirement for heating avoids an inadmissible load on the electrical system of the vehicle, which is quite limited in its performance.
The object of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the drawing, namely this shows in Fig. 1 a vertical main section through the heating device, the heating body is partially shown in the view, in Fig. 22 a partial cross section according to the line II-II 1, in Fig. 3 a part of a main section through a radiator of a different Ausfüh approximately shape and in Fig. 4 a main section through another evaporator chamber.
In Fig. 1, the vaporizer chamber with 1, the directly assembled with her and in it by means of a tubular extension 2 partially protruding mixing tube with 3, the nozzle seated in this for the fuel vapor with 4 and the significantly higher fuel tank with 5 denotes net . From the fuel container 5, which is designed into a pressure vessel by means of the screwed-on lid 6, the pipeline 7 goes down, which greatly reduced the valve 8 with a cross-section compared to the pipe cross-section, therefore acting as a nozzle and preventing the evaporation chamber 1 from filling too quickly ent holds and opens into the evaporator chamber 1 at the bottom.
On the other hand, from the United steamer chamber 1, above the mouth of the line 7, the pipe 9, which opens again into the fuel tank, but above. The evaporator chamber 1 is provided at least in the part lying in the extension 2 against the nozzle 4 with a filling 10 made of asbestos wadding. Instead of a fibrous material, a fine-pored material can also be used for this filling.
To heat the vaporizer chamber 1, it has the heating winding 11 close to the mixing tube 3, which is supplied with power from the only indicated storage battery 12 of the motor vehicle via the switch 13. This switch, the formation of which can be seen in FIG. 2, is operated by the hand lever 14 which also controls the cock 8, in such a way that the circuit is interrupted when the fuel supply is shut off, but the fuel supply is closed when the fuel supply is open.
The ignition resistor 15 is connected in parallel with the heating-up winding 11. This is housed in the essentially closed small chamber 16, which flows through the short pipe section 17 into the mixing tube 3 at a distance of around 50 mm from the nozzle 4, jammed as a pipe.
Two bimetal switches 18 and 19 are located in the circuit common to the heating circuit 11 and the ignition resistor 15. Both keep the circuit closed in the cold state. The bimetallic switch 18 is attached to the heating element 20 surrounding the heating flame and opens the circuit as soon as its active element reaches a temperature which guarantees sufficient heating of the evaporator chamber 1 from the heating flame to allow the fuel to evaporate. The bimetal switch 19, ins.
special its active member, however, is mainly heated by the heating coil 21, which carries part of the current flowing through the circuit; This bimetal switch interrupts the circuit after a time that is longer than the heating time of the vaporizer chamber 1.
The radiator 20 is assembled lengthwise from individual sheet metal plates. These sheet metal plates have an opening corresponding to the clear cross section of the radiator and are raised at this opening at least approximately perpendicular to the plate extension. The raised parts here have a shoulder and are plugged into one another one after the other so that they form the wall 22 of the radiator and at the same time keep the remaining parts of the plates, which represent the heating ribs 23, at a distance from one another.
The essential parts of the heating device, with the exception of the fuel container 5, are built under the perforated protective hood 24 on the base 25. You are in the only indicated interior J of the car body on the bottom 26, whereas the fuel container 5 could be arranged outside the car body interior J is. The hot gases leaving the radiator 20 are fed via the pipe section 27 to the engine compartment M of the vehicle, which is separated from the interior J by the wall 28.
Starting from the cold state, the heating device described works in such a way that after turning the hand lever 14 into the position illustrated in the drawing, fuel flows from the fuel container 5 into the vaporizer chamber 1 and at the same time the circuit of the heating coil 11 and the ignition resistor 15 is closed. The small volume of the vaporizer chamber, together with the filling 10, makes it possible for the fuel to evaporate very quickly and for liquid fuel to hardly escape from the nozzle 4.
However, the filling 10 offers very little resistance to the fuel vapor, so that it can flow out into the mixing tube 3 almost unhindered. If so much fuel vapor then escapes that an ignitable mixture is created in the mixing tube 3, the chamber 16 also fills very quickly with an ignitable mixture which is caused to explode by the ignition resistor 15 and the jet of fuel vapor and via the pipe section 17 Air ignites, and causes the formation of the heating flame in the radiator 20.
If the bimetal switch 18 then reaches a temperature, partly through conduction and partly through radiation from the warm air passing by, at which sufficient back-heating from the heating flame is ensured in the evaporator chamber for further evaporation of the fuel, the heating-up winding 11 and the ignition resistor 15 switched off by him.
During operation, the pipeline 9 guarantees that the vaporizer chamber 1 is continuously fed with fuel, to such an extent that a state of equilibrium is established with regard to the fuel supply and the fuel consumption.
To turn off the heating, the hand lever 14 is thrown over, whereby both the fuel supply to the evaporator chamber 1 is shut off and the circuit of the heating winding 11 and the ignition resistor 15 is interrupted. The fuel residue in the evaporation chamber 1 then evaporates, whereupon, when no more ignitable mixture is formed, the heating flame goes out and after the heating element 20 has cooled down, the bimetal switch 18 closes again.
If the heating flame does not form, for example due to a lack of fuel, or if it goes out for this reason or because of a blockage of the nozzle 4, the bimetal switch 19 responds and in this way prevents an inadmissibly long, comparatively high load on the vehicle's electrical system.
The illustrated in Fig. 3 heater 29 is wound from an at least approximately Win kelprofil having sheet metal strip. The wall 30 of the radiator is formed here at by the one, shorter, a shoulder having leg of this profile band and the only cooling rib 31 of helical shape by the other, longer leg.
In the United evaporator chamber 1 illustrated in Fig. 4, the extension 2 of the mixing tube 3 penetrates the evaporator chamber lengthways and even protrudes beyond it. The extension 2 has perforations within the evaporator chamber 1, again contains a filling 10 made of asbestos wadding, and on its protruding, end-closed part carries the heating winding 11, which lies under a cap 32.
In the pipeline 9 there could be a special shut-off element that would allow fuel to be refilled even during operation.
