Electric drill hammer. The present invention relates to an electric jackhammer drill, characterized in that it comprises an electric motor the rotary movement of which is transformed into reciprocating rectilinear movement by a cardan device, one of the elements of which is driven by the motor. is driven by a rotary movement, while another element is driven by an alternating angular movement and acts on the percussion member which causes the translation of the tool, the motor being controlled by. from the handle of the device by a switch placed on it.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of the jackhammer mounted with its perforating device; fig. 2 is a cross section of this device taken along line 1-1 of FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a cross section of the device taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 4; fig. 4 is a longitudinal section of the perforating device.
In the embodiment shown, the jackhammer is made as follows: In a housing 37 is housed an electric motor 1 intended to actuate the hammer. The motor is controlled by a device for abrupt opening and closing of its supply circuit, housed in a handle 8 fixed at the end of housing 37 and allowing the hammer to be operated. This positive device comprises a trigger 44, hidden in the handle and pivoting about an axis 2 located in the latter. The trigger 44 which a torsion spring 42 pushes constantly towards the eye of the handle, is integral with a small part 3, finished in the shape of a ball joint.
On the axis 2 also pivots a part 45 of insulating material on which is fixed a metal plate 46 capable, for a position of the part 45, to come to rest on two contacts 6 and 7 thus closing the circuit of the motor 1 The part 45 is provided with a ball 4 similar to the ball 3.
A spring 5 bears on the two ball joints 3 and 4, the centers of which are arranged. compared to. the axis?, to create a triangle whose vertex 3 passes on either side of line 2-4 according to the position of the trigger, which constitutes the means of abrupt opening and closing of the circuit.
The motor 1 is supplied by the intermediary of the brushes 9 and 10 and comprises, at the end of the shaft, a fan 11 and a pinion 12. The latter meshes with a drum pinion 13, with internal teeth, mounted. on an axis 47 supported by a box 36 following on from the box 37.
In the pinion 13 is arranged a 1: 1 housing, inclined on its axis and in which is introduced the axis of a part 15 finished in the form of a fork 16 traversed next. the axis 17 by a shaft 18. The latter carries a sleeve 19 located between the arms of the fork 16. A fixed axis 2 (ï passes through the sleeve 14 and the shaft 18 and the latter can pivot on it .
It can thus be seen that when the pinion 13 rotates around the axis 47, the axis of the part 15 describes a cone of revolution, the top of which is located at the intersection of the axis 211 and of the axis 47. Because 'the part 15 can rotate around the shaft 18, the latter rotates at a certain angle around the axis 20, alternatively in one direction and the other, and is found in an identical position on each turn of the pinion 13.
The end of the shaft 1.8 is thus driven in an alternating angular movement. It is engaged in a housing 35 fixed at the end of the housing 36 and fitted with a tube 31 provided with an opening providing passage to the shaft 18.
In the tube 31 can slide the percussion member constituted by a hammer or striker 27. At its end is fixed the tool holder device which receives the tool 39 on which the hammer must. come knocking. : 1 cc; Indeed, in the hammer is arranged a cylindrical housing in which is introduced a sphere 26 sliding on the end of the shaft 18. Grace;:
i this possibility of smooth neck on said shaft, the reciprocating angular movement of the latter gives it a rectilinear movement which is transmitted to the hammer 27 by means of two small slides 21 and 22 kept apart by springs 23 and 24 and whose role is to act as shock absorbers for each percussion of the sphere on the hammer.
A spring 25 also serves as a shock absorber for the -17 hammer at the end of the recoil.
The tool holder device is removable, it is formed by a mandrel 34 which is screwed onto the tube 31 and imprisoning a sleeve 43 and a spring 33. The spring 33 tends to constantly urge the tool 39 forward against the mandrel 34.
A spring? 9. bearing on the casing 35 and on the end of the mandrel 34 rat traps the game (read could take the latter and read tube aimed one on the other.
The operation of. these various components is as follows: The electrical circuit of motor 1 is normally open. Indeed. the hand spring 5 holds the centers of the ball joints 3 and 4 in a position such as. ball joint 3 is slightly below line 2-4, that is to say in the position shown in fi-. 1.
When the worker wants to set the tool in motion, he presses his index finger on the trigger 44, which has the effect of moving the ball joint 3 and making it cross neutral by passing through the line \ 3-4. The spring 5 which was compressed is then suddenly released and, under its action, the part 45 is suddenly moved towards the inside of the handle. The metal plate 46 therefore presses very strongly on the contacts 6 and 7 and closes the motor circuit.
By turning, the latter drives the pinion 13 which then drives the part 15 with a rotary movement and, consequently, with a reciprocating motion, the shaft 18. Through the sphere 26, the latter acts, through the 'intermediary of the slide 22, on the hammer 27 which strikes the shank of the tool 39. The latter, being previously brought back by pressing the tip of the tool on the piece to be pricked, receives a shock which tends to move forward and make him strike said coin.
The shaft 18 then drives, by the slider 23, the hammer or striker 27 in the opposite direction and the rear shock is damped by the spring 25 which tends to make the hammer rebound in the direction of the piece to be pricked while shock absorbing.
When the trigger is released, the latter is returned to the rear by the spring 42 inside the handle, the ball joint 3 returns to neutral and is placed beyond the axis 2-4; at this time, the spring 5 is abruptly released and the part 45 abruptly recalled. The plate 46 sharply separates from the contacts 6 and 7 and the sudden opening of the circuit of the motor is carried out.
The movement of the tool is either straight line or helical, depending on whether the jackhammer is used as a simple jackhammer or as a drill hammer. When the electric hammer is used as a drill hammer (see fig. 1 and 2), the following device allows the tool to turn slightly on itself and always in the same direction with each impact (rotation necessary to perform the perforation).
The tail of the tool has the shape of a prism cut on its axis 30, so that its edges are then helices, the sleeve 43 is hollowed out inside along the same surface and is held captive between the mandrel 34 and the tube 31, it can simply turn on its axis, and this in a well-determined direction which is that of the arrow of FIG. 2, because on the outer surface of the sleeve 43 there are longitudinal notches 41 in which rollers 32 are placed. The sleeve cannot then rotate in the opposite direction of the arrow, because then the rollers would leave the bottom of the notches. and would jam the sleeve 43 against the tube 31.
When the hammer 27 strikes the tail of the tool 39, the latter advances slightly. As it cannot drive the sleeve 43 in its stroke, there is a slight rotational movement of the tool and the sleeve in the direction of the arrow. When the tool goes back, for the same reasons, there is still a slight rotation of the tool and the sleeve, still in the direction of the arrow.
When using the electric hammer as a simple jackhammer (fig. 3 and 4), the shank of the tool 39 has simply the shape of a cylindrical or a straight prism with rectilinear edges, the sleeve 43 is hollowed out in the shape of a cylinder or right prism, it is hand held clamped between the tube 3.1 and the mandrel 34, the tool can then slide on its axis. A spring 3.3 also keeps the tool pressed against the mandrel 34.
It is obvious that the shape and dimensions of the apparatus can change without thereby affecting the very principle of the invention.
