Contact converter for heavy current. De invention aims primarily to improve power converters with mechanically moving contacts towards the total switch-on process every time. When switching on there is a risk that due to the voltage between the open contacts, a pre-discharge occurs shortly before the start of the contact, which can cause harmful burn-off or at least undesirable material migration to the contacts.
According to the invention, an auxiliary voltage covering at least part of the discharge voltage is additionally introduced into an auxiliary current branch connected in parallel to the contacts with at least one discharge path to be ignited by synchronous control each time shortly before the contact is closed. As a result, harmful switching fires can be largely suppressed when the contact is closed, so that the contact uniform can be used for higher operating voltages.
In the drawing, an execution example of the subject invention is provided, namely the circuit diagram of a three-phase high-voltage converter and associated auxiliary equipment. The invention can, however, also be used with single-phase arrangements and with multiphase arrangements of any number of phases.
The primary winding 11 of a transformer is connected to an alternating cable network 10 , the secondary winding 12 of which supplies high-voltage three-phase current to feed the contact converter. To the secondary winding 12 the - contact devices 17, 18 and 19 of the hugger are connected via switching chokes 13, 14, 15.
The switching throttles 13, 14, 15 have a magnetic core made of a high-quality iron type with a very high saturation induction, the magnetization characteristic of which is inclined as little as possible towards the flux axis in the unsaturated area, has a sharp kink at the transitions into the saturated areas and in the saturated areas is almost parallel to the axis of magnetic excitation.
The number of turns and core cross-section of the switching reactors are dimensioned in such a way that the core is highly saturated at the nominal value of the operating current and is only desaturated at very small instantaneous values of the current close to the current zero value, so that each time there is a low-current pause near a current zero passage , in which the current has negligibly small values for a while., so that a current interruption that takes place during the low-current break can be carried out under considerably easier conditions.
The contact devices 17, 18, 19 have a more or less large number of uninterrupted points connected in series. They consist preferably of a number of dormant con tact pieces that are bridged by moving switching bridges. The latter can be driven by a synchronous motor 16 via a common shaft 26, preferably via cranks, cams, eccentrics or the like. Via intermediate tappets, preferably in the manner of the valves of internal combustion engines. The drive elements mentioned have been omitted in the drawing for the sake of clarity.
The drive motor 16 can preferably be fed from the three-phase network 10 via a rotary transformer 30, which is used to adjust the phase position of the switching clock relative to the phase position of the AC voltage. The contact devices are also bridged by parallel current paths 27, 28, 29, which can preferably have a capacitive component and are divided into mutually equivalent sections.
Taps provided between the individual sections are connected to the corresponding contact pieces in such a way that the voltages occurring at the contact devices are distributed evenly to all interruption points. The parallel paths have: The task of delaying the rise of the recurring voltage when the contact opens. They can be tuned so that they influence the course of the magnetic flux of the switching chokes 18, 14, 15 during the blocking period in such a way that the switching chokes are always in an unsaturated state before being switched on, so that before the contact begins each time a low-power pause begins.
The same purpose can also be used for special bias windings that are placed on the magnetic core of the switching chokes, but are omitted in the drawing for the sake of clarity. These bias windings can be charged with direct or alternating current and at the same time fulfill the task of at least partially compensating for the coercive force of the switching inductors when the contact is opened,
so that the desaturation already starts at a small positive instantaneous value of the falling part of the current curve. A common line leads from the contact devices via a smoothing choke 37 to one pole of a direct current network 20, the other pole with the star point of the secondary winding 12 .The feed transformer is connected.
To facilitate the switch-on conditions, an auxiliary AC voltage of suitable frequency and phase labe example, can be taken from a special generator 40, which can either be coupled to the common Antriehsweble 26 or, as shown in the drawing, by a special synchronizer motor 39 is driven, which can advantageously be connected to the same lines on which the drive motor 1.6 is located; because it must be ensured that the auxiliary alternating voltage always has the same phase position in relation to the contact movement.
The generator 40, the excitation of which, like that of the motors 16 and 39, can be taken from any direct current network, unless permanent magnets are used to generate the field when the three-phase network 10. With 50 per./sec. is operated, for example, a sinusoidal auxiliary AC voltage of 150 periods in:
generate the second. This auxiliary AC voltage can be fed to an auxiliary circuit common to all phases, which is switched over to the contact devices of the individual phases in the cycle of the phase sequence with the aid of an additional switching device.
For this purpose, the contact groups 17, 18, 19 bridging auxiliary lines to Iden dormant contacts 21 to 26 of a double-pole switching device, whose movable contacts 31 and 34 are arranged on the drive shaft 26 and via slip rings 32, 35 and brushes 33, 36 on the auxiliary AC voltage source is connected. Instead of a mechanical switching device, grid-controlled discharge vessels can also be used as switching devices for the auxiliary AC voltage.
It is advisable to keep the high voltage potential away from the auxiliary AC voltage source 40 by interposing an insulating transformer 41, 42. The secondary side 42 of the insulating transformer can be bridged by a capacitor 38 which at least partially compensates for the disruptive inductance of the insulating transformer.
If the auxiliary AC voltage generator 40 is also arranged on the drive shaft 26, the slip rings can be omitted. The auxiliary lines can instead be permanently laid between the generator and the auxiliary contacts 31 and 34 along the shaft 26.
An insulating transformer may then be omitted, but the armature of the auxiliary alternating voltage generator is special compared to its excitation part. carefully isolate, unless a permanent magnet is used for excitation.
The mode of operation of the high-voltage contact converter is described as follows: In the position shown, the contacts of group 17 have just closed, while the contacts of group 19 are about to begin their opening movement. The middle phase contact group 18 is open. Shortly before the contacts of group 17 have closed, a small arc discharge came about between the auxiliary contacts 21, 31 and 24, 34 when they approach one another, through which a current flow was initiated.
This current cannot assume a large value because the switching inductor 13 is in the unsaturated state while the aforementioned current is flowing. Without using the invention, the arc voltage of the discharges at the auxiliary contacts 21, 31 and 24, 34 would also occur at the contacts of group 17 during the closure of the main contacts and may cause pre-sparks and thus harmful burn-off.
The said auxiliary AC voltage taken from the generator 40 prevents this. It is set so that it participates in the maintenance of the arc discharges by counteracting the arc voltage at the contacts 21, 31 and 24, 34, respectively. If the instantaneous values of the auxiliary AC voltage are approximately as large as the arc voltages, the latter are almost completely covered by the auxiliary AC voltage alone. There is then no potential difference between the auxiliary contacts 21 and 24.
As a result, there is no voltage at all at the ends of the contact group 17 either. Harmful switching fire cannot occur. After the shaft 26 has rotated 120, the above-described process is repeated on: the contact group 18 and the associated auxiliary contacts 22, 25, after another 120 'rotation of the group 19 and the associated auxiliary contacts 23, 26th
The circumferential auxiliary contacts can be designed so that they do not come into contact with the static auxiliary contacts, but rather are moved past them at a small distance.
