Description
Bimetall-Band-Thermometer.
Bimetal ribbon thermometer. Thermometers are known in which the temperature fluctuations to be measured in a unilaterally held bimetal band of different shape cause voltage differences that are transferred to a pointer connected to the free end of the band. The tapes used are usually wrapped in spirals and given a protective housing. For temperature measurement in containers and pipelines, such thermometers are mostly used in immersion tubes that are built into the measuring point.
The heat is transferred by conduction and radiation through the immersion tube via an air layer into the protective housing and via the air enclosed by this to the bimetal strip. Experience has shown that the setting time of such instruments is relatively long and the temperature display is not always perfect.
The subject of the present invention is a bimetallic strip thermometer with a conical protective housing and an associated immersion tube with counter canoe, characterized by the direct contact of the conical surface of the protective housing with the conical inner surface of the immersion tube,
purpose heat transfer by conduction from the immersion tube to the wall of the slot housing. The bimetallic strip, wound like a helical line, for example, can be fixed at one end to a bearing piece and connected to the pointer shaft guided in this bearing piece at the other end.
Bimetallic spiral, pointer shaft and bearing piece can form a single whole and, as such, be mounted on one side and adjustable in the protective housing of the thermometer. The bearing piece h: A still has the purpose of closing the air space surrounding the bi-metal band in the innermost part of the protective housing, and thus keeping the air space surrounding the bimetal band as small as possible.
The bearing piece to which the bimetal spiral with the shaft is attached can be arranged so that it can be rotated relative to the protective housing, whereby the theimometer pointer can be adjusted. For this purpose, the bearing piece is advantageously pressed by a tension spring egen its seat in the protective housing, which in turn is held in the protective housing by a screw.
For sliding heat insulation, the protective housing with the bimetallic spiral and associated parts is separated from the other parts of the thermometer by a heat-insulating spacer. The immersion tube with an inner cone can either be provided with screw thread for screwing into boiler pipelines and the like or designed as a sleeve for welding.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of an inventively constructed thermometer is shown in cross section. Perpendicular to the pointer housing 1 is insulated through the plate 2, the protective housing 3 is attached, which is inserted with its conical part to fit into the immersion tube 4 so that the surface of the protective housing rests metallically on the inner wall of the rope tube. The bearing piece 5 is pressed against the seat in the protective housing 3 with the aid of the helical spring 7.
The coil spring 7 is supported at one end against the screw screwed into the protective housing. 6 from. On this piece the helically wound bimetal strip 8 is attached, which is connected to the shaft 9 on the other end. The bearing points of the shaft 9 are located in the bearing piece 5 and in the screw 6. Ten cams are provided on the outer circumference of the bearing piece 5 and are accessible from the outside through recesses in the protective housing 3.
Since the bearing piece 5 is arranged to be adjustable, the pointer 10 can be set as desired by turning the bearing piece 5 with the aid of a screwdriver or a corresponding flat profile rod. The design of the thermometer allows an extremely simple assembly and installation of the entire system in the immersion tube with the aid of the screw 6.
