Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen quaternären Ammoniumsalzes. Gemäss der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines zum Was- serabstossendmachen von Gewebe brauchbaren, neuen, quaternären Ammoniumsalzes dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass Pyridin, wasserfreie Oxal- säure und Stearohydroxymethylamicl zusam men zur Reaktion gebracht werden.
Wenn gewünscht, kann die Reaktion auch in Gegenwart einer solchen Menge Pyridin ausgeführt werden, dass letzteres zugleich als Verdünnungsmittel wirkt, so dass die Reah- tionsmasse im flüssigen Zustande erhalten bleibt. Anderseits können auch andere Ver dünnungsmittel zum selben Zwecke verwen det werden, wie Chloroform, Benzol oder Toluol.
<I>Beispiel:</I> <B>9</B> Teile fein pulverisierte wasserfreie Oxalsäure werden in<B>100</B> Teile Pyridin von <B><I>60</I> 0</B> eingerührt. Hierauf werden<B>10</B> Teile Stearobydroxymethylamid zugesetzt und das Ganze wird unter Umrühren während vier Stunden auf<B>600 C</B> erhitzt. Die Temperatur wird hierauf auf 70-8011 <B>0</B> erhöht und das Umrühren während 12 Stunden bei dieser Temperatur fortgesetzt.
Das Reaktionsge misch wird gekühlt, mit Aceton verdünnt und der so entstandene weisse, kristallinisehe Niederschlag abfiltriert. Das auf diese Weise erhaltene Stearamidomethylpyridiniumoxalat ist ein weisser, kristallinischer Körper, wel cher in Methylalkohol oder Chloroform wenig löslich ist. Der Salz, das sich in heissem Wasser spärlich löst, gibt eine klare, schäu mende Lösung. Es ist in heissem Pyridin löslich, aus welchem Lösungsmittel es leicht kristallisiert werden kann.

If desired, the reaction can also be carried out in the presence of such an amount of pyridine that the latter also acts as a diluent, so that the reaction mass is retained in the liquid state. On the other hand, other diluents can be used for the same purpose, such as chloroform, benzene or toluene.
<I> Example: </I> <B> 9 </B> parts of finely powdered anhydrous oxalic acid become <B> <I> 60 </I> 0 </ B in <B> 100 </B> parts of pyridine > stirred in. <B> 10 </B> parts of stearobydroxymethylamide are then added and the whole is heated to <B> 600 ° C. for four hours while stirring. The temperature is then increased to 70-8011 <B> 0 </B> and stirring is continued for 12 hours at this temperature.
The reaction mixture is cooled, diluted with acetone and the resulting white, crystalline precipitate is filtered off. The stearamidomethylpyridinium oxalate obtained in this way is a white, crystalline body which is sparingly soluble in methyl alcohol or chloroform. The salt, which dissolves sparsely in hot water, gives a clear, foaming solution. It is soluble in hot pyridine, from which solvent it can be easily crystallized.
