Device for creating an artificial draft in the chimney. The present invention relates to a device for generating an artificial draft in the chimney, in which according to the invention in the chimney a nozzle acting with respect to the fire gases in the manner of an ejector is installed, which is connected to a blower delivering compressed air.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject matter of the invention is Darge, namely shows: Fig. 1 the device attached to the end plates of a soot box of a chimney in section, Fig. 2 the front end plate of the soot box in view, Fig. 3 the in Fig. 2 illustrated closing plate from the side, seen in the direction of the arrow A shown in Fig. 2,
4 shows this plate with a holding plate arranged on it, in section along the line IV-IV in FIG. 2, FIG. 5 shows the nozzle shown in FIG. 1 on a larger scale, with individual parts in a different position, FIG from Fig. 5 visible detail in plan, and Fig. 7 the individual units shown in Fig. 5 in the direction of the arrow B drawn in Fig. 5 Neten seen.
In the example shown, 1 denotes a part of a chimney and la a so-called soot box which is arranged in a niche lb of one chimney wall and is formed from a frame and two end plates 2 and 3 detachably attached to it.
On the one, inner plate 2, an air nozzle 4 is attached, consisting of a curved tube, one of which protrudes obliquely upwardly bent end into the interior of the chimney and expires in a horizon tal opening 4a. A pipe socket 5, which penetrates the outer plate 3 and is connected to a fan 6, opens into the other end of the nozzle.
The rotor 6a of this blower sits on the Urelle 7a of an electric motor 7 arranged coaxially with the housing of the blower 6 and fastened to the same. The pipe socket 5 is mounted in the hub 8a of a holding plate 8, the latter having slots 8b so that it can be in Direction of arrows C (Fig. 2) relative to the plate 3 can be moved. 8c designates a locking screw threaded into the hub 8a of the retaining plate, which is used to fasten the fan 6 and the pipe socket 5 in the retaining plate 8.
A closure flap 9 is arranged above the nozzle opening 4a and is mounted on the nozzle so as to be pivotable about an axis 9a. The closure flap 9 is dimensioned so that when the fan 6 is in operation, the flow pressure of the air on the flap 9 is sufficient to open the flap zii or. keep open. A safety flap 10 is arranged above this closure flap 9.
This is mounted on the inner end plate 2 so that it can pivot about an axis of rotation 10a and is suspended from a fusible wire 11 in an inclined position. The weight of this safety flap is chosen so that it falls down after the fusible wire 11 is destroyed and thereby presses the opening flap against the nozzle opening against the air pressure prevailing in the nozzle.
The handling and operation of the device described above is fol lowing: When firing in a fireplace connected to the chimney, the electric motor 7 is put into operation in the event of a bad draft in the chimney. Here, air is sucked in from the atmosphere by the fan coupled to the motor 6 and pushed through the nozzle 5 and the nozzle 4. The closing flap 4a is opened by the flow pressure of the air and this is blown upwards in the direction of the arrow D drawn in FIG. 1 into the chimney.
The whole ventilation device is expediently arranged as possible on the top, closest to the roof, the soot box. The one with a relatively high speed. Air blown upwards from the nozzle now also causes the air column located under the nozzle in the chimney to rise and eject in the direction of the arrow E shown in FIG. 1 in the manner of an ejector. In most cases it is sufficient to achieve a good draft in the chimney a pressure to be generated by the fan 6 of about 25 to 100 millimeters of water.
Usually, as soon as the cold or humid air has escaped from the chimney, in a short time, usually after about 15 minutes, the normal buoyancy caused by the flue gases, which are lighter than the outside air, occurs in the chimney, after which the device exceptions Operation can be set. Should by any circumstances the Ge blower remain in operation for too long and thereby generate an excessive draft in the chimney and heat it inadmissibly, the correspondingly sized fuse wire 11 melts through, with the safety flap 10 falling under the action of gravity and thereby the Closing flap 9 presses against the nozzle mouth.
The air flow from the nozzle is interrupted and the draft in the chimney is reduced to a normal level. Even when the fan is switched off, the closing flap falls into the closed position under the action of gravity and thus prevents any falling soot or the like from getting into the interior of the nozzle and clogging it over time.
After loosening the locking screw 8c, the fan 6 together with the pipe socket 5 and the motor 7 can easily be expanded and possibly assembled with other nozzles built into other chimneys. The fan and nozzle are assembled by simply inserting the pipe socket 5 into the hub 8a of the holding plate 8 and into the nozzle 4 and by tightening the locking screw 8e. Due to the displaceability of the holding plate 8 relative to the end plate 3, the centering of the hub 8a respectively. of the pipe socket 5 compared to the nozzle 4 very <RTI

The switch for starting the motor 7 can either be arranged on the motor itself, in its vicinity, or in the area of the fireplace. It is also possible, if several locally spaced fireplaces are ruled out on the chimney, to attach a switch for putting the motor into operation in the area of each individual hearth, as it is also possible in the following, the motor and the fan not immediately in front of the To arrange the nozzle, but to place it near the fireplace or elsewhere and the fan through a pipe that is expediently laid in the chimney,
to connect with the nozzle or at best with the nozzles of several chimneys and to provide the various branches leading to the nozzles with the necessary shut-off valves. Furthermore, it is of course also possible to design the whole thing in such a way that the switch or switches by the respectively from the fireplace. Fireplaces are operated. Finally, it would also be possible, where the circumstances allow it and make it appear appropriate, or where there is no electrical current, to provide a water motor or some other drive means to drive the fan.
