Avertisseur d'incendie.
Fire alarm. The object of the present invention is a fire alarm. This warning device is characterized by a metal blade wound in a spiral and fixed, by one end, to a frame and by the other, to a movable contact rotatably mounted on this frame and able to engage with another contact, these two contacts forming a switch arranged in an electrical circuit controlling an alarm device, the whole so that, when the blade in question has reached a determined temperature, it has expanded sufficiently so that the two contacts close the circuit , which activates the alarm device.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are two plan views, and FIG. 3 is a section through III-III of FIG. 1.
In this embodiment, 1 is a frame and 2 is a metal blade wound in a spiral; one end of this blade is fixed by a screw 3 to a stud 4 of the frame and the other end is fixed to a shaft 5 rotatably mounted between the frame 1 and a bridge 6; this shaft has a movable arm 7, forming a contact and being able to engage with a contact 8 fixed to the frame; these two contacts form a switch mounted in an electrical circuit, not shown, intended to control an alarm device which is not shown either; the frame, in electrical connection with the arm 7 is connected to one of the poles of the source of the circuit and the contact 8, isolated from the frame to the other pole.
The device described above can be closed in a casing which conducts heat.
One of the ends of a strip of inflammable material, for example of celluloid, which will extend through the room to be monitored, can be fixed to this casing, so that if a fire breaks out at a point in this room . removed from the housing, the latter is quickly heated by the ignition of the strip in question.
Under the influence of an abnormal heat produced by the beginning of a fire, the blade will expand, which will cause the mobile contact 7 to rotate until it comes into engagement with the frozen contact 8; at this time, the alarm device will work. The advantage of the device described is to be of very simple and inexpensive construction and to have great sensitivity.
