Injection pump for internal combustion engines with strongly changing speed. In many internal combustion engines with strong. With changing speed, especially in vehicle engines, it is important that injection starts earlier and earlier as the speed increases. For this purpose, automatic devices have already been proposed that adjust the start of injection of the respective speed by a controller that is dependent on the speed.
According to the invention, in engines with a pump in which the fuel delivered escapes through a controlled return in a first part of the Pumpen.druckhubes, the start of injection can be adapted to the speed without a special regulator by the return over a larger part of the The piston stroke remains open and is strongly throttled before it is fully completed, so that the pump piston drives more fuel back through the return line when the pump is running slowly, and so the injection pressure and thus the start of injection is reached later than when running at full speed, where the throttling effect is more pronounced .
In the drawing, four Ausfüh approximately examples of the subject invention are shown. All examples relate to pumps with a return flow controlled by the piston itself and serving as a suction channel.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the upper part of a pump; Fig. 2 shows a part of a cylinder liner in a longitudinal section perpendicular to this section; 3, 4 and 5 each show a longitudinal section through the cylinder liner, partly on a greatly enlarged scale.
According to FIGS. 1 and 2, a cylinder liner h is inserted into a housing a, in which a pump piston c runs, the lower and upper dead positions of which are indicated in the drawing by dash-dotted lines UT and 0T. During its pressure stroke it pushes back through the suction and return flow channels d and e controlled by itself from the fuel sucked in from the space f on during the previous suction stroke until it has completely closed the channels.
In the further course of the pressure stroke, the rest of the fuel charge is conveyed through a pressure valve g to the injection nozzle, not shown, until the bottom, oblique, abge cut control surface h on the piston reveals the return flow channel e. From now on, the pressure chamber z of the pump is connected to the channel e and thus also to the suction chamber f via a groove k in the piston and the recess of the piston provided under the sloping edge in the control surface h.
The fuel that is still being pumped flows back into the suction chamber until the end of the pressure stroke. The injection quantity is regulated by turning the piston, as a result of which the diagonally cut control surface opens the described return flow path later or earlier, depending on the turning. The control surface of the suction and return ducts d runs into a narrow wedge-shaped gap n on the side facing the top dead center, i.e. where it is last covered by the piston during the pressure stroke.
This causes a throttling effect, which brings about the intended, automatic adjustment of the start of injection. If the piston is in the pressure stroke shown in Fig. 1:
When the position is reached, channel e is complete and channel d is closed except for gap n. Through this gap, however, not all of the fuel displaced by the piston until it is completely covered can flow back, so that the injection begins before the piston has closed the gap n. The faster the piston pressure stroke takes place, i.e. the faster the engine runs, the less fuel there is.
The time to escape through the gap 7a, the earlier the injection pressure must be reached and the injection must begin and vice versa.
According to Fig. 3, two very fine return bores o are provided over the channels d and e, which also act as a throttle as the gap n in the first example.
The third example according to FIG. 4 differs from the first only in that, instead of the gap used there, there is a groove p, the shape of which is shown in dashed lines in FIG.
Instead of a corresponding design of the return flow channels, it is also possible to throttle the piston by means of a special design, as the fourth example according to FIG. 5 shows. The piston is very slightly tapered at the top, so that the conical surface behind the piston front edge q, which acts as a leading edge, throttles the return flow until the cylindrical piston surface that follows behind the whole r completely covers channels d and e.
