Iron alloy, especially for hot tools. C) The invention relates to an iron alloy run, which is used in particular for hot-working tools, such as dies, injection molding dies, - rolling mandrels and other tools , eiio-e in presses, - cuts, dies, furthermore for barrels -and the like more 0.
"Suitable, et, is. It is also suitable for construction parts, specifically for those that are stressed even at high temperatures, such as those used, for example, in modern engine and turbine construction, such as Valve # kl valve cones, turbine blades, etc. However, the alloy can be used for many other purposes.
Hot-working tools, for which the alloys according to the invention are particularly useful, are not intended to be understood to mean high-speed steels, of which other properties are linked, such as active hardness in particular.
Chrome-tungsten steels, chrome-nickel steels, chrome-molybdenum-nickel steels, tungsten-nickel steels and, as the best steels, chrome-tungsten-nickel steels have already been proposed for hot-working tools.
It has now been found that surprisingly good results compared to these known steels would be achieved by tungsten-cobalt Niek rods with low-chromium, that is, preferably chromium-free rods containing only the amount of impurities. The iron alloy according to the invention contains 0.05 to 0.5% carbon, 0.5 to 15% tungsten , 0.3 to 5% cobalt, 1 to 5% Niekel, but not more than 2 % chrome.
A possible low chromium content should expediently not exceed 1% . However, alloys in a weakened 3-forin design with up to 2% chromium should be protected be considered.
Small additions of molybdenum or vanadium can advantageously be added, which in some cases can partially replace the tungsten. These additions are usually applicable, for example up to 0.5 ', C tz / 0 but in some cases up to about 2 % can be added.
According to further embodiments of the invention, small additions of one or more elements, such as, for example, tantalum, titanium, zirconium, copper and silicon tin, may also be present.
It is of great importance and very surprising that the valuable properties of the alloy according to the invention even with low percentages of tungsten, cobalt and nickel, such as from 2 to 6% W, 0.5 to 2% Co, 1 to 3% Ni are already present in a predominant amount, especially when c is simultaneously present some 31-, olybdenum, preferably 0.1 to 0.6%.
A static alloy, which, for example, in addition to iron - and next to manganese and silicon in the usual small menus - 0.39% C, 2.87% W, 0 , 59% Mo, ',), 51% Ni, 1.01% Co, i.e. a total of about 7% of these components, has already shown over -,
ashing en good results. The alloy allows easy shaping of any kind. It is noticeably insensitive to temperature fluctuations, such as those that play a major role when used as a rolling mandrel.
The insensitivity of steel is also expressed in the fact that the Le, Yierulio # is not only hardened in 01, but also in t 'el water. can be cooled without being damaged. The hardening can take place due to an extraordinarily large hardening interval.
Such an alloy can be treated as follows, for example: annealing at 700 to 720 'C and let it be obtained slowly; Hardening at. 9j50 to 1000 'C, cooling- in oil. The cooling- can take place in #n #water or air .. Tempering at temperatures between 600 to 650 'C depending on the intended use. But this is only not an example of a treatment, you can also proceed differently.
With various -lusfühl-Lino-sformeii with a low carbon content, the hardness is not reduced on tempering, sometimes even o # estei, -ei4-.
C e The particular progress of these teachings lies in the fact that they also have a range of excellent properties that could not be combined with one another up to now, although numerous suggestions for warma. working tools have already been made.
While the individual features are noteworthy in the various designs. fluctuate somewhat, such as strength and elongation, in a manner known per se, depending on the carbon content. ,
They appear in their respective entirety (the simultaneous presence of relatively high heat tear strength, toughness and sensitivity to temperature fluctuations and usually no good volume stability and good machinability)
as very valuable compared to the previous state of technology.
The preferred embodiments of the inventive. Alloys have t 'ZD Zn chromium at most in the amount of contaminants.
This also applies to the examples given here. t'el Various valuable properties of the alloys decrease permanently with increasing chromium content and the combination of the existing valuable properties, which includes the great applicability and progress of these alloys, is lost.
Alloys with about 1.5 % 0 Ci- are still very valuable compared to those with about 3 110 'Cr. Chrome-tungsten-nickel alloys have already been used. with 3 to 7% chromium, in which the nickel can be partially replaced by cobalt.
In contrast, it was recognized according to the invention that both nickel and cobalt must be present in addition to tungsten and that it is also essential that the alloy is low in chromium and that this is advantageously absent at all. In view of the state of the art mentioned, however, even poorer A-as execution forms with up to 2% chromium should still be considered as protected.
Chromium is never to be understood as an essential component of the alloy and its content is always smaller than that of nickel, for example even in such leaned embodiments.
